Governor Wensley was sworn in as the 25th Governor of Queensland in front of 480 selected
guests on July 29, 2008. The swearing in ceremony cost tax payers $80,000.
Premier Anna Bligh at the time defended the cost, saying the ceremony was important
because "this is an important role in a democracy. It’s not a lavish affair but I think it is
important that a formal ceremony be undertaken" she said.
Ms Bligh further enthused "Penelope Wensley is a distinguished Queenslander and ... will
also bring a great warmth and compassion to the role of governor"...
However, Governor Wensley has shown no compassion and no humanity towards Ms Nash
and her long suffering son. In fact she has point blank refused to acknowledge them and
respond to their correspondence and phone calls without explanation.
To date the allegations by Ms Nash and her son that their courtroom audiotapes and
transcripts were repeatedly edited in order to pervert the course of justice, remain
unacknowledged as government apparently refuses to take a position one way or another vis-
a-vis these serious allegations.
"Equal treatment before the law is a pillar of democratic societies. When courts are corrupted
by greed or political expediency, the scales of justice are tipped, and ordinary people suffer.
Judicial corruption means the voice of the innocent goes unheard, while the guilty act with
impunity" Huguette Labelle, Chair of Transparency International.
On 20 August 2009, Queensland Independent MP, Dorothy Pratt, asked Attorney General,
Cameron Dick why he has not responded to the documented and corroborated judicial
corruption complaint and why he has not answered Ms Nash’s correspondence and phone
calls. His answer is due in Parliament on 18 September.
Due to lack of press freedom, this matter has not been reported in Australia.
