Experience:
Andy joined Griffith Hack in 2011 immediately after completing his PhD in the field of Chemical Engineering at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), University of Queensland. Andys educational and research background is in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering. Andys PhD studies in the field of Chemical Engineering focussed on design and fabrication of nanostructured materials for sustainable energy conversion applications including hydrogen production from water splitting using sunlight. Andys PhD studies included synthesis of nano structured catalysts and photocatlysts by utilizing transition metal oxides and by use of co-catalysts including Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene supporting structures. He has extensive research experience in the evaluation of catalytic processes and the processing of gases such as Hydrogen in gas phase reactor systems. Andy received the Deans Award for Excellence in his PhD in 2011.

Andy also received the Deans commendation for 2006 and 2007 while pursuing a Master of Engineering at University of Queensland. While pursuing his Master of Engineering at UQ, Andy also worked as a Research Scientist undertaking materials characterisation specialising in Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction and spectroscopic analysis of materials. Andy uses his knowledge in Materials Engineering and Materials Chemistry in patent matters across several technical fields ranging from traditional materials engineering and chemical technologies like nanotechnology to medical devices and Physical Chemistry. Andy has been involved in patent matters including drafting and prosecution of patent applications in Australia and key overseas jurisdictions.
