Im sure that youve heard both sides of the argument on gay marriage whether or not it is moral or immoral.

Gay marriage is completely moral. Just because someone likes the same sex does not mean they are any less of a person. Gay people should be allowed to celebrate their years of commitment just as straight couples do. Just because someone is homosexual does not mean that they should have any less rights than a heterosexual. Homosexuals should be able to get married because it is a basic right that all people should have. There was a story of a man named Shane, he and his partner Tom had been together for six years. They owned a house and business together. When tragedy stuck Shane was left with nothing after Toms death. After Toms death Toms mother flew to where they lived and took Tom from Shane. Shane wasnt allowed to go to the funeral or keep the house that he and Tom purchased together. This is why gay marriage is important to have. If tragedy strikes there are certain laws that would keep this from happening and keep many lives from being torn apart. This is not the only time something like this has happened. It happens all the time and there is nothing anyone can do about it because there are no laws preventing it. This is why it is important for marriage to be legal for both homosexual and heterosexual couples. The argument that homosexual marriage defies God is invalid. Reason being, not everyone shares the same religious values or beliefs in the same God(s). Marriage is a matter of the states choice, not the churches. The United States of America is in fact NOT a theocracy and shouldnt be treated as such when it comes to the marriage of homosexuals. Many years ago interracial marriage was illegal. People thought that two people of different race should not be allowed to be together. Now in US we have couples of different races and they have not affected same race couples in the slightest. The same would happen for homosexual couples. It would not affect heterosexual couples in the slightest of ways. Some people argue that homosexuals shouldnt be allowed to marry because they cannot procreate. If that were the only reason that homosexuals could not marry some heterosexuals wouldnt be able to marry as well. Infertility is not a reason to band ones marriage. Besides this, if gay marriage were legalized there would be more successful adoptions. Because homosexuals cannot have children they would adopt to compensate.

Its not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who arent like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasnt changed at all; women are still property, blacks still cant marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. 5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed. 6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldnt be allowed to marry because our orphanages arent full yet, and the world needs more children. 7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. Thats why we have only one religion in America. 9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. Thats why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children. 10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we havent adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Im always shocked that gay marriage is such a big deal. You have to realize how precious human life is, when there are tsunamis and mudslides, when there are armies and terrorists - at any moment, you could be gone, and potentially in the most brutal fashion. And then you have to realize that love is truly one of the most extraordinary things you can experience in your life. To begrudge someone else their love of another person because of gender seems to be absolutely absurd. Its based in fear, fear of the other, fear of what is not like you. But when you are able to see lives on a day-to-day basis, rather than reducing it to politics, then it humanizes a whole community of people that were otherwise invisible.
