h tm 4 Point Cocktail Cocktails that are composed entirely of alcohol with no mixers can be exceptionally hard to make palatable. While the martini and manhattan cocktails make pure alcohol mixology seem easy, most drinks that contain only alcohol have little appeal to casual drinkers. The 4 Point cocktail takes good bourbonand combines it with applejack, Salerno Blood Orange liqueur and maraschino liqueur to create a rich, complex and ethereal cocktail. Try this one at home or ask your favorite mixologist to mix one up for you. Remember, with cocktails that are all alcohol, stir the drink for best results. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz bourbon 1 oz applejack 1/2 oz Solerno Blood Orange liqueur 1/4 oz maraschino liqueur orange twist for garnish

Preparation: 1. In a mixing glass, combine first four ingredients. 2. Add ice. Stir vigorously for 45 seconds.

Abbey Cocktail The Abbey Cocktail makes an excellent brunch cocktail and the more sophisticated version of an Orange Blossom. It's a very simple drink to make but the orange bitters add a slight kick to

the drink, which you can tailor to your taste. Regan's Orange Bitters No. 6 is perfect combination with your favorite premium gin. And, for the juice, fresh is always better. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz orange juice 2 oz gin 2 dashes orange bitters maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with the cherry. A Bloody Good Time How you could step away from this without thinking that it is truly a bloody good drink, I don't know. First off, it has a great anejo tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico along with Disaronno, the great Italian amaretto. To that mix we add blood orange, the spice of ginger, a little sweet and sour, and top it off with a refreshing soda. It, quite simply, is the makings for 'A Bloody Good Time' and is a highball with just the right amount of complexity to keep your interest to the end no matter the occasion or season.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces Cazadores Anejo Tequila 1 ounce Disaronno amaretto liqueur 1 ounce fresh blood orange juice 2 ginger dials 1/2 ounce lemon juice 1/4 ounce simple syrup Soda Lemon wedge for garnish

Preparation: 1. In mixing glass, muddle ginger dials with lemon juice. 2. Add simple syrup, blood orange juice, Disaronno, Cazadores Anejo tequila, and ice. 3. Shake and strain into a highball glass over fresh ice. 4. Top with soda, fold and stir into cocktail. 5. Garnish with lemon wedge.

Red Ball I was asked to create an original cocktail forAbout.com that would be called the "About.com Red Ball" and this recipe was the result. It seemed in the process that everything was good except one thing was missing. The missing link was a shot of pomegranate vodka (specifically Charbay). The addition of that one ingredient in place of clear vodka made the difference I was looking for and balanced the drink out nicely.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz pomegranate vodka 1 oz coconut rum 1 oz crme de almond 1/2 oz sweet vermouth dash of lime juice maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Drop a maraschino cherry in the glass for a garnish. Absinthe Cocktail This Absinthe Cocktail is a true classic cocktail and can be found in many of the first bartending books including those by "The Professor" Jerry Thomas. I have adapted this recipe from the 1887 printing of Thomas' Bartenders Guide and it is a great way to taste all of those reintroduced absinthes that are now dotting the market. It is an almost true taste of absinthe as that is the major ingredient, though I find it interesting that anisette is also used because it doubles up the anise flavoring. The other thing you will notice is that this is a very short drink, but it is a powerful one in both taste and affect. Ingredients: 1 oz absinthe 1 oz ice water 2 dashes anisette

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Preparation: 1. Pour the absinthe, anisette and bitters into a cocktail shaker. 2. Slowly add ice-cold water, then ice. 3. Shake vigorously. 4. Strain into a cocktail glass. Absinthe Drip This recipe is for a classic absinthe cocktail. Since absinthe had been illegal for sometime, Pernod or Herbsaint were often used as substitutes, but there's nothing like the real thing. Luckily absinthe is beginning to once again see the light of the bar and has become legal to sell in more countries than it was in the better part of the 19th Century. The Absinthe Drip is a variation of the French-style of drinking the herbal liquor, the difference being the club soda and ice. Absinthe is a taste that grows on you, but it's worth the experience and traditionally this drink is served with two straws cut in half. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz absinthe or substitute 1 sugar cube Club soda

Preparation: 1. Pour absinthe into a mixing glass half filled with crushed ice. 2. Place the sugar cube on top of the ice.

3. Very slowly drip club soda on the sugar cube until it is completely dissolved. 4. Mix well. 5. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Absinthe Sour The Whiskey Sour is probably the most popular of all the sour drinks and rightfully so, it is a great cocktail. It is sour, yes, but the sweetness of some whiskeys and simple syrup offset any tartness, especially the sweeter bourbons like Maker's Mark. Fresh lemon juice is key for the best Whiskey sour and the choice of whiskey will create a different cocktail depending on style and brand. As some reviewers have pointed out, a more traditional recipe for a Whiskey Sour includes egg white. This does tend to tame the sourness of the drink and make it a bit smoother. The use of raw egg is a matter of choice and has fallen out of favor for many drinkers given the potential for salmonella. If you are going to opt for the raw egg, read these tips on using eggs in cocktails. There are a few variations below the recipe. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz whiskey 1 1/2 oz lemon juice 3/4 oz sugar syrup Maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the whiskey, lemon juice, and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled sour glass. 4. Garnish with the cherry. Accomplice Combine a fine Champagne and a great vodka (likeStoli) with strawberries and you have a fantastic drink called the Accomplice. This is a great cocktail for elite celebrations and, especially, New Year's Eve parties. I like that it's served in a cocktail glass as opposed to a Champagne flute because it allows the bubbly to swell in the wider glass. Not to mention it's much easier to rim a cocktail glass with sugar, which is a necessary finishing touch for this and works best with a brut or extra brut for that sweet-dry combination that is stunning. Ingredients: 1 oz simple syrup 2 oz Stolichnaya vodka 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice Champagne 3 strawberries superfine sugar for rimming Preparation: 1. Muddle three strawberries and simple syrup in acocktail shaker. 2. Add the vodka and lemon juice. 3. Shake well. 4. Strain into a sugar-rimmed martini glass. 5. Top with Champagne.

Adirondack There are two versions of the Orange Blossom according to The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book, one neat and one on the rocks. In the 1935 book A.S. Crockett says that the Orange Blossom No. 1 (neat) was likely created by "some young bridegroom or other who wanted something novel to use at his final stag party." His recipe for the Orange Blossom No. 2 is built in a "bar glass," for this you'll want to use an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. It also calls for 1:1 gin and orange juice so you want to keep the glass small or go with a little more juice to keep the alcohol content manageable. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 3/4 oz gin 3/4 oz sweet vermouth 3/4 oz orange juice Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice cubes. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Orange Blossom No. 2 (or Adirondack) 2 oz gin 2 oz orange juice 1. Pour the gin into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. 2. Top with orange juice.

Adjustable Rate One of the biggest headlines in the last half of 2007 was certainly the housing mortgage crisis and to "commemorate" it bartender Derek ONeill Butler of Prime One Twelve Restaurant in Miami, Florida created this tropical cocktail. At first it may not seem like much more than the average fruit highball in which the juices are the dominant flavor. But after a few, well-stirred sips the blackberry rum and tequila become noticeable and shine as a nice compliment to the tropic juices. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 part Hornitos Blanco Tequila 1 part Cruzan Blackberry Rum 1/2 part DeKuyper Tropical Pineapple Coconut Liqueur 5 parts fresh pineapple juice splash of orange juice Pineapple for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. 4. Garnish with a pineapple.

Admiral Benbow An Admiral Benbow is a refreshing lowball drink that blends the sweet flavors of Plymouth gin, lime juice and dry vermouth. It's an obscure cocktail that I've fallen in love with but its history alludes me. It could have been named for the fictional Admiral Benbow Inn that housed Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island. But then again there was a Royal Navy Admiral John Benbow who was immortalized in song after a mutiny among his captains. That was 1702 so the Treasure Island link is more believable. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 2 oz Plymouth gin 1/2 oz lime juice 1 oz dry vermouth maraschino cherry for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with several ice cubes. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass filled with ice. 4. Garnish with the maraschino cherry.

Admiral Perry The Admiral Perry is an original cocktail submitted by Blair Frodelius and was chosen as the winner of the October, 2010 Cinnamon Cocktail Contest. The judging panel had quite a bit that they enjoyed about this cocktail, most poignantly was the combination of pear, cacao, and the new Hiram Walker Original

Cinn Schnapps. It's a classically styled drink, but has a significantly modern twist. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Absolut Pear Vodka 1 oz Hiram Walker Original Cinn Schnapps 1 oz dry vermouth 1/4 teaspoon white creme de cacao Thin pear slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir with ice until chilled. 2. Strain into cocktail glass. 3. Garnish with a thin slice of pear. Aggravation An Aggravation is an easy lowball drink served on the rocks. It's a nice flavor combination of Scotch and coffee that is perfect for fall evenings. It is also sometimes called a Teacher's Pet. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz Scotch whisky 1 oz coffee liqueur Milk or cream

Preparation: 1. Pour the Scotch and coffee liqueur in an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. 2. Fill with milk or cream. 3. Shake by placing a mixing tin over the glass and giving it one or two good shakes. Air Force One Master Mixologist and author of Market-Fresh Mixology, Bridget Albert, created this Air Force One cocktail for the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama. It's a simple mixed drink that holds the beautiful blue hue of Hpnotiq liqueur, which is mixed with your favorite citrus vodka and topped with lemon-lime soda. The color and refreshing taste make this a delightful drink for any day of the year and the name ensures a perfect fit for the Fourth of July or any other patriotic holiday. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Hpnotiq Liqueur 1 oz citrus vodka Juice from a lemon wedge lemon-lime soda Lemon spiral for garnish

Preparation: 1. Fill tall glass with all ingredients and add ice. 2. Stir well. 3. Garnish with a lemon spiral. Lemon spirals look fancy, but they are actually very easy to make, and they make a nice addition to drinks and cocktails.

Start the Lemon Spiral

You will need a lemon zester like this one. Begin by washing and drying the lemons. Using the blade in the middle of the zester, start at the top of the lemon and cut in a spiral all the way around.

Twist the Lemon

Pressing the blade firmly into the lemon peel with one hand, use your other hand to slowly twist the fruit. You want to go deep enough that you grab a good chunk of the peel, but not so deep that you puncture the fruit. If you are really talented, you may be able to make it all the way down the lemon in one cut. But most likely, the peel will break off about halfway down.

Add the Lemon Spiral to a Drink

When it comes off, the peel will be slightly twisted, but you may have to do a bit of manual adjustment to get a really good spiral. Now you can drop the lemon twist right in a drink, or artfully lay it over the rim of a glass.

Expander The Brandy Alexander is a luxurious, creamy cocktail that has been popular throughout the 20th century. It is a brandy version of the gin-based Alexander cocktail and, honestly, brandy does make the better Alexander. The cream and creme de cacao are a perfect pairing for the rich taste of a decent brandy, particularly on cold winter nights. The Brandy Alexander is also a luscious after dinner drink that pairs best with chocolate desserts. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 ounce brandy 1 ounce dark creme de cacao 1 ounce cream Ground nutmeg for garnish Preparation: Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a dusting of nutmeg.

Algonquin Cocktail The Algonquin Cocktail is a great "Martini" of your favorite rye whiskey, dry vermouth and pineapple juice. It was named after the famous Algonquin hotel in New York City although when exactly it was created is unclear. The hotel, built in 1902, was known as a "dry" hotel even before Prohibition. But the how's and why's of the Algonquin Cocktail's origin are not important when you're enjoying its fantastic fruit and whiskey taste. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz rye whiskey 3/4 oz dry vermouth 3/4 oz pineapple juice

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Americano The Americano is a gentle introduction to the unusual, bitter taste of Campari. A true classic cocktail, it was first served in the 1860's at Garspare Campari's bar in Milan, Italy. The Americano was originally name the Milano-Torino because of the origins of it's ingredients, but was later renamed because of its popularity amongst American tourists during Prohibition. This cocktail with it's acquired taste, was also the first cocktail ordered by James Bond in the first novel, Casino Royale, the Vesper Martini (or the manner in which it was ordered) overshadowed the Americano in the books and movies.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz Campari 1 oz sweet vermouth Club soda Lemon twist or orange slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes. 2. Build with the Campari and vermouth. 3. Top off with club soda. 4. Garnish with the lemon twist or orange slice. Zaza Originally an un-garnished cocktail from the 1930's, the Dubonnet Cocktail is now often served with a twist of lemon (sometimes an orange peel) but has fallen into obscurity in recent years. The Dubonnet Cocktail is said to be a favorite of Queen Elizabeth II, and her mother preferred it served on the rocks. This cocktail is also known as a Zaza. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz gin 3/4 oz Dubonnet Rouge Lemon twist for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice cubes. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with the lemon twist. Zen Latte The Zen Latte is a delightful hot drink that is a mix of two favorite warmers. This one takes the beauty of Zen's green tea flavor and pairs it with the same steamed milk you use in your daily latte, making it the best of both worlds and a very relaxing winter drink. The matcha powder is a powdered green tea and can be found at most stores that sell a great variety of teas. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 parts Zen green tea liqueur 6 parts steamed milk Matcha powder for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the Zen into an Irish coffee glass or coffee mug. 2. Top with steamed milk. 3. Stir well. 4. Garnish with matcha powder.

How to make matcha powder The matcha ceremony is an elaborate art form, but with a little practice, making delicious, clump-free matcha is simple. To whisk great matcha at home, youll need: Matcha powder, preferably ceremonial grade (You can buy ceremonial-grade matcha powder from companies like Art of Tea and DoMatcha.) A matcha whisk (These are also available from many online tea retailers.) A matcha scoop or a 1/2 tsp measuring spoon A chawan (matcha bowl) or any wide, shallow bowl 1. Place two scoops or one heaping 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder into your bowl. 2. Pour three ounces hot water (just simmering is best) into the bowl. 3. Holding the bowl with your left hand and the whisk with your right hand, whisk the matcha powder into the water. Use your wrist (not your elbow or arm) to make Wshaped whisking motions. 4. At some point during whisking, run the whisk around the perimeter of the bowl to remove surface clumps. You can also gently press the whisk against the bottom of the bowl as you whisk to break up any hidden clumps. 5. It will take thirty seconds to one minute to whisk out the clumps and develop a foam on top of the matcha. 6. Once the top of the matcha is frothy, gently lift the whisk out of the center of the matcha bowl. This will leave a small,

visually appealing concentration of foam in the center of the bowl.

Zen Milk Bath The moment I saw the recipe for the Zen Milk Bath in Yuri Kato's book Japanese Cocktails I knew it was going to be something spectacular, and I have not been disappointed. The aspect of this cocktail that I find the most intriguing is that it shows that sake can be a very versatile cocktail ingredient and even works with vanilla and milk, which are not the most obvious pairings. It does work quite divinely and makes a fabulous and relaxing night cap, dessert, or tea time tipple. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz (30 ml) Zen Green Tea Liqueur 1 oz (30 ml) nigori zake (sake) 1/4 oz (7 ml) vanilla vodka 2 oz (60 ml) milk Matcha powder for garnish Preparation: 1. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Strain into a chilled martini glass. 3. Sprinkle matcha powder on top and serve.

Zesty Irishman The Zesty Irishman, on the surface, is similar to aWhiskey Sour with the exception of a couple of rather interesting twists. It was created by mixologist Anthony Caporale, who is also Drambuie brand ambassador. If you are familiar with Drambuie in drinks like theRusty Nail, you will be pleasantly surprised with its pairing with Scotch's counterpart. Though, here the liqueur not only paired with Irish whiskey, but the citrus is a distinct contrast that we typically do not think of mixing with Drambuie. It's interesting, certainly different from the norm, and gives a new perspective to the liqueur's pairing potential. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 3/4 oz Drambuie 1 oz Irish Whiskey 1/4 oz triple sec Juice of 1/2 lemon Ginger ale Lemon twist for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the whiskey, Drambuie, triple sec, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake until the tin is frosted, strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. 3. Add a splash of ginger ale and garnish with a lemon twist.

Zimaretto A Zimaretto is a refreshing mixed drink that is simply made with Amaretto and Zima. Ingredients: 2 oz Amaretto 12 oz Zima

Preparation: 1. Pour the Amaretto into a highball glass. 2. Top with Zima. Zipperhead The Zipperhead is a light vodka cocktail that features Chambord. This French liqueur is a wonderful black and red raspberry and cognac blend that is used in many cocktails. It is customary to serve this drink with a straw so that it can be mixed as you drink Ingredients: 1 oz vodka 1 oz Chambord 1 oz 7-Up Preparation: 1. Build the ingredients in a chilled old-fashioned glass with ice. Zombie This cocktail does have the potential to turn you into a zombie just as the name implies and many Zombie drinkers can attest to. It is reported to have been created by Don the Beachcomber around 1934 and it is still perfect to enjoy for a relaxing happy

hour, tropical summer drink or a haunting Halloween party cocktail. As is common in tiki cocktails, the original recipe is disputed. Below is just one variation from Dale DeGroff's The Craft of the Cocktail, find more in this article on Kaiser Penguin: Zombie Recipe Comparison. Prep Time: 4 minutes Total Time: 4 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz light rum 1 oz dark rum 1 oz 151-proof dark rum (optional) 1 oz orange curacao liqueur 1/2 oz lemon juice 1/2 oz lime juice 1 1/2 oz orange juice 1 1/2 oz passion fruit puree (or syrup) 1/4 oz grenadine 2 dashes Angostura bitters Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a highball glass with crushed ice. 4. Optionally, float the high-proof rum on top of the finished drink.

Zorbatini Make a Vodka Martini, hold the vermouth and, instead, use ouzo then you have a Zorbatini. Essentially, this is an anise-flavored Martini that is both subtle in flavor and potent. The amount of ouzo(a Greek anisette liqueur) you choose to you is a personal preference but this 1/4 oz is perfect for a gentle introduction or for those who love the boldness. The Zorbatini makes a great aperitif or a nice, relaxing sipper with friends and a few munchies. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz vodka 1/2 oz ouzo greek olive for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka and ouzo into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with a Greek olive. Yashmak Choose your favorite whiskey, add Pernod,Angostura bitters and dry vermouth to make a great Yashmak. Your homemade sugar syrup will add some sweetness to this cocktail that can be served either shaken or blended.

Ingredients: 2 oz whiskey 3/4 oz dry vermouth 1/2 oz Pernod several dashes of Angostura bitters sugar syrup to taste Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled highball glass filled with ice or a cocktail glass with no ice. Optional: Blend the ingredients with 3/4 cup of ice until smooth. Yellow Bird Similar to a Screwdriver, the Yellow Bird replaces the vodka with two types of rum. To make things a bit more interesting, a touch of the anise and vanilla liqueur Galliano is used to add another layer of flavor. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: Juice of half a lime 1 1/4 oz orange juice 1 oz light rum 1 oz dark rum 1/4 oz Galliano

Maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Squeeze the lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Add all of the remaining ingredients. 3. Shake well. 4. Strain into a collins glass with crushed ice. 5. Garnish with the cherry. Yellow Fairy Sweet and seductive, the Yellow Fairy is one of my favorite spring dessert cocktails. For this drink I've paired the botanicals of gin (I prefer Bulldog orDamrak) and the ultra-sweetness of lemoncello with a hint of absinthe. It all ends up balancing out nicely but you do want to be gentle with the absinthe as it can easily take over the entire drink. In this case (as it often is in absinthe cocktails, such as a Mile High Manhattan) less is more. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz gin 1 oz lemoncello 1/4 oz absinthe Dash of aromatic bitters Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Yellow Jacket

The Kentucky Screwdriver goes by a couple of different names: Black-eyed Susan and Yellow Jacket. The Screwdriver variations just go to show that you can adapt almost any cocktail to your favorite base liquor, this one just happens to show off Kentucky's finest bourbon. The name Black Eyed Susan is more commonly used to refer to the official drink of the Preakness. If you're looking for that cocktail recipe, it is here... Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon orange juice Preparation: 1. Pour the bourbon into a collins glass with ice. 2. Top with orange juice. Yellow Parrot This yellow brandy cocktail can be shaken or blended and makes a refreshing drink for summer evenings. The liqueurs add a unique blend of herbal flavor to the palate. Be sure to use Yellow Chartreuse, not green, or it will be a green bird, not a Yellow Bird. Ingredients: 1/2 oz brandy 1/2 oz Pernod 1/2 oz yellow Chartreuse Preparation: Shaken: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well.

3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Blended: 1. Pour the ingredients into a blender with 3/4 cup ofice. 2. Blend until smooth. 3. Pour into a chilled hurricane glass. Yellow Submarine The Yellow Submarine is an absolutely delicioustropical cocktail. The banana liqueur and white rum are key to the flavor and the banana garnish adds that finishing touch that will have you thinking of the islands. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounce vodka 1/2 ounce white rum 1/2 ounce b anana liqueur Banana slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with the banana slice. XUXU Bana Easy, refreshing and full of fruit, the XUXU Bana is an ideal summer cocktail. For the best visual effect, treat this drink like you would a Tequila Sunrise by

slowly pouring the XUXU Strawberry Liqueur on top of the banana juice. The two will eventually meld into one another. It's beautiful! Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 ounce XUXU Strawberry Liqueur 4 ounce banana juice Fresh strawberry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the banana juice into a long drink glass, add 2 cubes of ice. 2. Slowly pour 2 oz XUXU into the glass so that it does not blend with the banana juice. 3. Garnish the rim of the glass with a fresh strawberry and add two straws. Xalapa Punch If you are planning a big party and are looking for a punch recipe that stands apart from the rest, then you will want to try out this concoction. Xalapa Punch is an intriguing rum, brandy, and red wine punch that is highlighted with black tea and heated orange rinds. Prep Time: 40 minutes Total Time: 40 minutes Yield: About 40 servings Ingredients: 2 cups hot black tea 1 cup honey or sugar 1 quart amber rum

1 quart apple brandy 1 quart dry red wine Oranges and lemons Preparation: 1. In a sauce pan over low heat, combine the hot black tea and rind of two oranges (grate with carrot peeler or cheese grater). 2. Heat for 5 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. 4. Add the honey or sugar and stir until dissolved. 5. Pour into a punch bowl with ice. 6. Add the amber rum, apple brandy, and dry red wine. 7. Garnish with diced oranges and lemons. Warm Apple Pie This recipe for a Warm Apple Pie is an interesting twist on the many other hot cocktails that use warm apple cider, including the Tuaca-based Hot Apple Pie. In this case, however, the base spirit is the unusual TY KU, which brings a nice, fruity aspect to the drink that is very nice against the apple background. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz TY KU Liqueur Warm apple cider Whipped cream Cinnamon stick for garnish Preparation:

1. Pour the TY KU into an Irish coffee glass or other heatresistant glass. 2. Fill the glass with warm apple cider. 3. Top with whipped cream and grate a touch of cinnamon on the top, placing the remaining cinnamon stick in the glass. Warm 'n' Toasty Toddy Similar to the Hot Toddy, my recipe for Warm 'n' Toasty is a fruity rendition of the classic hot drink. In this drink I've skipped the tea for hot water, but it's also great with a light lavender tea. The grenadine's fruitiness sets off the bourbon's sweet and bitter qualities. Best of all, it's all warmed up so it's perfect for a lazy winter day. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon whiskey 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice 1/4 oz grenadine Hot water to fill Orange wheel for garnish Cinnamon stick for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the bourbon, lemon juice and grenadine into an Irish coffee glass.

2. Fill with hot (not boiling) water. 3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange wheel. Washington Apple The Washington Apple is a great drink. In fact, it is so popular that you can find it being served as a Martini, a shooter, or either tall or short on the rocks. The taste is appealing and it can be easy to drink too many, what with a rich Canadian whiskey background, a sweet and sour apple, and refreshing cranberry. If you go the tall route on the Washington Apple, add more cranberry juice to taste. Otherwise, in all versions the ingredients are equal - which also makes this an easy drink to remember. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey 1 oz sour apple schnapps 1 oz cranberry juice Apple slice for garnish

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or shot glass. 4. Garnish neat version with an apple slice.

Wassail I believe this Wassail recipe to be more traditional than the rum and beer version and it's the one of the two that I personally prefer. This version of the traditional holiday punch is frothy and is a nice touch to the warm drink. Wassail has been used for centuries in its various forms as a comforting which families would serve to carolers and other visitors during the Christmas season. The tradition of going house to house to visit like this is known as wassailing and groups often spent an entire day or evening making their rounds. Prep Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Yield: 12 Drinks Ingredients: 1/2 cup brandy 2 bottles dry sherry 1 cup water 1 cup sugar 3 egg yolks 6 egg whites 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp cardamom Cloves Cinnamon sticks Apple slices Preparation: 1. Place the water and spices into a saucepan. 2. Simmer for 10 minutes, without allowing it to reach a boil and stirring occasionally.

3. Add the sherry and sugar and continue to heat and stir for a few minutes. 4. Remove from heat. 5. Beat the egg white and yolks separately. 6. Stir the sherry mix and egg yolks together in a heat resistant punch bowl or wassail bowl. 7. Add the brandy. 8. Whisk in the egg whites until foamy. 9. Garnish the punch bowl with apple or other fruit slices. Apples have long been a favorite cocktail flavor. Whether it is hot apple cider, chilled apple juice or one of the tasty apple brandies, the flavor of the apple makes a great foundation for many mixed drinks. You will find that apple mixes well with a variety of flavors from the obvious cinnamon and caramel to the notso-obvious mango and rosemary Waterloo Sunset The Waterloo Sunset is a delightful twist on a few cocktails. First you have the interesting base of gin and elderflower liqueur (St. Germain being the liqueur of choice) in a Champagne cocktail that mimics anElderflower Cocktail. Then, there is the element of the "sunrise" that is most commonly found in a Tequila Sunrise. In this case, however, the "rise" is attributed to raspberry liqueur instead of grenadine, with Chambord being the most convenient and highest quality choice. It is a stunning cocktail for celebrating any occasion.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 parts Beefeater 24 Gin 1 part Elderflower Liqueur 1/4 part Raspberry Liqueur Top with Brut Champagne Preparation: 1. Stir Beefeater 24 and elderflower liqueur with ice. 2. Strain into glass. 3. Layer Champagne and add raspberry liqueur using a barspoon. Watermelon Cucumber Cooler There are some flavor pairings that are just natural and as lovely in their aroma as they are in taste. Watermelon and cucumber are one of those and this cocktail displays that marriage made in heaven perfectly. Aviation, the gin used here, may be the only gin that could pull this cocktail off to such perfection. It is more of a floral and citrus gin, with juniper hanging out lightly in the background, and that is an ideal situation for the watermeloncucumber combination. Watermelon is one of the easiest fruit to juice, so it will not take long to get what you need for the drink. The easiest way is to simply muddle a few chunks and strain for the juice. Also, don't pass by that pinch of salt, it is essential and without it this drink

would be like a Bloody Mary without the black pepper: slightly bland, but tolerable. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces Aviation American Gin 2 slices cucumber chunks 1 1/2 ounces freshly pressed watermelon juice (or muddle 3-1" chunks) 1/2 oz simple syrup 3/4 oz freshly pressed lime juice Pinch salt 1 1/2 ounces soda water Cucumber slice for garnish

Preparation: 1. Press watermelon to make juice (squeeze the watermelon in a juicer or muddle in amixing glass). Strain and reserve 1 ounces of the juice. 2. Place cucumber in mixing glass and muddle. 3. Add remaining ingredients through salt. 4. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. 5. Fine strain into a highball glass filled with ice. 6. Top with soda water. 7. Garnish with a cucumber slice on rim. Watermelon Margarita Nothing says summer more than fresh watermelon and an icecold Margarita and in this cocktail the two come together. For this Watermelon Margarita you will want to remove all of the seeds in the fruit and it tends to work best if you give the watermelon a quick blend before adding the other ingredients to

the blender. Also, if you want to get a little "wild" you could turn this into a Melon Margarita by cutting some of the watermelon and adding canteloupe, muskmelon or your favorite melon variety, it is the ultimate summer cocktail any way you do it. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz tequila 1 oz triple sec 1/2 oz lime juice 1/2 cup seeded watermelon 1 cup ice watermelon wedge for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a blender. 2. Blend until smooth. 3. Pour contents into a chilled margarita glass. 4. Garnish with a watermelon wedge. Wedding Belle Every Wedding Belle needs a special cocktail and this one is perfect for your wedding. Gin and Dubonnet Rouge are the foundation of this extra special cocktail that is enhanced with cherry and orange. Your guests will love this more traditional drink with it's infinite palate.

Ingredients: 3/4 oz gin 3/4 oz Dubonnet Rouge 1/2 oz cherry brandy 1/2 oz orange juice

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass

Weep No More I have to thank a reader for pointing out this forgotten favorite and all the time it was in Just Cocktails, one of the most charming bartending booksin my collection. The Weep-NoMore hangs out in the "Favorite Sons" chapter which leads me to believe it was a local favorite somewhere, probably between 1900-1939. What it is is a classically designed cocktail of brandy and Dubonnet, which were two favorites of the time. Add a dash of maraschino and a bit of lime and I have to say you'll be "weeping no more." Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz Dubonnet Rouge 1 1/2 oz brandy 1/4 tsp maraschino liqueur juice of 1/2 lime Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Whipped Sunset The Whipped Sunset is a fun drink that shows off one of the new dessertflavored vodkas. The flavor is Smirnoff's Whipped Cream and it is the base for nectarous base for this tasty mix of fruits. Similar in fashion to the Tequila Sunrise, this drink uses grenadine to create a layered effect that is as visually stunning as the drink is pleasing to the taste buds. What is most interesting about the Whipped Sunset is how the whipped cream and pineapple flavors work with each other and are bound in a sweet and sour way with the similarly contrasting sour mix and grenadine. One note I have regarding this is that a heaping garnish of whipped cream may be a little much for some people. If you prefer, begin with a small dollop or forgo it all together. Also, you may want to play with flavored whipped creams for the garnish as is suggested by Kyle Branche in Whip That Groove. I would suggest a floral or herbal addition to compliment the fruitiness of the drink. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz. Smirnoff Whipped Cream Flavored Vodka 3 oz. sour mix 2 oz. pineapple juice 1/2 oz. grenadine Whipped cream (garnish)

Preparation: 1. Mix all ingredients, except for grenadine, in a cocktail shaker with ice and serve in a glass. 2. Top with grenadine. 3. Garnish with whipped cream. Whiskey Cobbler The cobbler is a classic cocktail, the most famous variation of which is the Sherry Cobbler. The Brandy Cobbler and the Whiskey Cobbler are also old-time favorites, they just pack more of a punch than any of the wine versions. I find it funny that in his 1862 How to Mix Drinks, Jerry Thomas suggests a whopping four ounces of whiskey in the Whiskey Cobbler. That is far too intoxicating for the average drinker, so we tend to take it down to 2 or 3 ounces in modern mixes. Brandy and whiskey both make a great cobbler, andgin and rum are two other options when it comes to the base spirit. Feel free to adjust the amount of syrup to taste and use whatever fruits are in season at the moment, though a cherry and a slice each of lemon and orange are great anytime. Another note is that some recipes add club soda to this mix. This is a fine option, though not traditional. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 3 ounces brandy or whiskey 1 ounce simple syrup Club soda to fill (optional) Seasonal fruit (or orange and lemon slices with a cherry) for garnish

Preparation: 1. Build the ingredients in a wine or old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. 2. Stir. 3. Add fruit garnishes (skewered or piled on top of the ice) and serve with a straw. Whiskey Daisy The Daisy is a classic style of cocktail that dates to the late 1800's. It is really a family of drinks that is basically a base spirit, simple syrup (or traditionallygum syrup and alternatively orgeat syrup), curacao or maraschino, lemon juice and soda water. The recipe below is for the Brandy Daisy and below that are the ways to adapt it for the various base spirits. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz brandy 2 dashes rum 2-3 dashes curacao liqueur 3-4 dashes simple syrup Juice of 1/2 lemon Soda water Preparation: Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled withice.

Shake well. Strain into a large cocktail glass. Top with soda water.

Other Daisies: Note: The rum in the Brandy Daisy is dropped for the others. Gin Daisy - use gin (traditionally a "Holland" gin, i.e. genever), orgeat for the syrup, and maraschino for curacao Rum Daisy - use rum and either maraschino or curacao Whiskey Fizz The fizz family of cocktails use soda and sugar for the "fizz" feel and sound and only differ from one another by the base spirit and the occasional added flavors. The Imperial Fizz, also known as the Whiskey Fizz, is a classic and a wonderful mixed drink that deserves to be made with only the best whiskies (typically a blended whiskey). Club soda can be used to fill the glass, but it's best with real soda fresh out of a soda siphon. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz blended whiskey 1 oz lemon juice 1/2 tsp superfin e sugar 4 oz soda

Preparation: 1. Pour the whiskey, lemon juice and sugar into acocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. 4. Fill with the soda. 5. Stir well. Whiskey Punch Jerry Thomas, the father of modern bartending, wrote this recipe for the first bartenders guide published, How to Mix Drinks. While a lot has changed since this book first appeared in 1862, the recipe for a good, extremely simple whiskey punch remains the same. Try this when the weather starts to get cool and you feel like something simple yet warming. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz whiskey (Irish whiskey or blended Scotch whiskyrecommended) 1 sugar cube (or more to taste) Hot water to fill 1 piece of lemon (wedge or wheel) Preparation: 1. In a mug or coffee cup, pour the boiling water over the sugar cube.

2. Stir to dissolve. 3. Add whisky. 4. Add a small piece of lemon, serve. Whiskey Smash The whiskey smash is one of the older cocktails in American history, appearing in Jerry Thomas' first published book on bartending in 1887. Unfortunately, this drink has been overlooked for some time. Essentially a cross between a whiskey sour and amint julep, the whiskey smash is perfect for the summer as it is quick, easy and absolutely refreshing. Just lemon, mint, simple syrup and whiskey, even the least experienced home bartender can make a great whiskey smash. For a sweeter smash, try Makers Mark or the newer Makers 46, or if you'd prefer something a bit spicier, Old Forester Signature should work quite nicely. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon whiskey 1 oz simple syrup (1 to 1 ratio) 1/4 lemon, cut up into 2-3 pieces 3-4 full sprigs of spearmint Preparation: 1. In a mixing glass, add mint and lemon. Muddle thoroughly to release juices and oils. 2. Add simple syrup and whiskey. 3. Add ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. 4. Strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice. 5. Garnish with a mint sprig. 6. Serve

White Carnation There is an interesting side note about this somewhat popular mixed drink. Until it was replaced in 1998 by Dale DeGroff's variation of it, The Belmont Breeze, the White Carnation was the official drink of the Belmont Stakes. Both drinks are worthy of the status associated with the last leg of horse racing'sTriple Crown. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 ounce vodka 1/2 ounce peach schnapps 2 ounce orange juice Soda water Splash of cream Orange slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka, schnapps, and orange juice into a mixing glass filled with ice. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. 4. Top with soda water and a splash of cream. 5. Garnish with an orange slice.

White Chocolatini The White Chocolatini is an outstanding dessert drinkthat is similar to the Chocolate Martini and the myriad of other chocolate-flavored Martinis. This one is rich and creamy with a beautiful mix of vanilla and white chocolate. I suggest you use Godiva White Chocolate liqueur because it is the best available. A friend suggested that this drink would pair nicely with pumpkin pie. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounce vanilla vodka 1 ounce Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur 2 ounce cream White chocolate shavings for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka, Godiva and cream into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a well-chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with white chocolate shavings.

White Christmas A White Christmas is a nice alternative to mix up for guests who are not extremely fond of Eggnog. It's a nice introduction to the distinct taste that is disguised by the flavors of chocolate liqueur and Southern Comfort. With this cocktail it's best to use a well-chilled eggnog and, if you want you can also add a few ice cubes to cool and water it down just a little. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 4 oz eggnog 1/2 oz white chocolate liqueur 1 oz Southern Comfort Edible gold flakes or chocolate flakes for garnish Preparation: 1. Build the ingredients in to snifter glass and stir lightly. 2. Sprinkle gold or chocolate flakes on top. White Lady Also known as a White Lady or the Chelsea Sidecar, the Delilah is one of those classic, somewhat forgotten cocktails. This drink is in the Sidecar family, replacing the brandy (or bourbon) with gin, making it a kind of hybrid of that popular drink and a classic Martiniesque cocktail.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces gin 3/4 ounce Cointreau 3/4 ounce lemon juice Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Wine Spritzer A Wine Spritzer is a classic wine drink that adds a little fizziness and life to your favorite white wine. Any white wine will work perfectly but Reisling and Pinot Grigio are especially good. Add a little "girl color" for girl's night out, bridal showers or spa parties with Folinari Pink Pinot Grigio. Guys, you can also wow your special lady with this drink. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 4 oz white wine club soda or mineral water Lime wedge for garnish

Preparation: 1. Fill a white wine glass or highball glass with ice. 2. Pour in the wine. 3. Top with club soda or mineral water. 4. Garnish with a lime wedge. Winter This is another great Champagne cocktail and its light blue color adds a fun splash to whatever occasion you may be celebrating. Get creative with your glassware for this cocktail, I prefer a white wine glass or old-fashioned glass but it is also stunning in a Champagne glass. Finding a blue maraschino cherry may be difficult but a red one looks just as good. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz SKYY Orange vodka 1/2 oz blue curaao orange liqueur 1 oz Champagne Blue maraschino cherry for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka and blue curaao into a mixing glass with ice. 2. Stir well.

3. Strain into a Champagne glass. 4. Top with the Champagne. 5. Garnish with a blue maraschino cherry. Winter Cocktail The Winter Cocktail is a classic recipe from the first part of the 1900's that I've adapted for modern spirits. Originally it would use ginger brandy, which is relatively scarce now, but the new Canton ginger liqueur is a perfect substitute and if you cannot find pimento dram another allspice liqueur will do. The Winter Cocktail is a wonderfully warming drink that is one of those gems lost to time but worth the reintroduction. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz rum Juice of 1/2 lime or lemon 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp ginger liqueur 1 tsp pimento dram 2 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters Preparation: 1. Pour the rum, juice, sugar, and liqueurs into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a cocktail glass. 4. Add dashes of bitters on top.

Wolf Bite This shooter is one of those fun, layered drinks that can make quite a splash if you serve up a round at your Halloween party. The Wolf Bite's stunning mix of neon green with a splash of blood red is what turns this into a gruesome shot. Though, the taste is not quite as gruesome it is one that may catch a few party goers by surprise, mostly due to the absinthe. That anise flavor can find some surprising taste matches and in this a mix of melon, pineapple, and grenadine is complimentary though it may not be to everyone's tastes, but this is a shot and I'm sure many of us have had much worse. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 1 oz LUCID Absinthe 1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur 1 oz lemon-lime soda 1.5 oz pineapple juice Drizzle of grenadine Preparation: 1. In a cocktail shaker, add LUCID Absinthe, Midori melon liqueur, pineapple juice, and ice. 2. Shake vigorously and strain into 2 ounce shot glass. 3. Splash lemon-lime soda on top and a drizzle of grenadine.

Woo Woo Woo Woo is another great peach and cranberry cocktail with a fun name that can be served in a cocktail glass or over ice in a highball. The cocktail can be transformed into a party punch by combining the ingredients in a quantity to fill a punch bowl and mixing it well before setting out. It can also be made into a shooter by mixing 1 ounce of each of the spirits. Consider the Woo Woo in any form a popular cocktail, one that every aspiring bartender should know. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces vodka 1 1/2 ounces peach schnapps 3 ounces cranberry juice Lime wedge for garnish Preparation: 1. Place the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or highball filled with fresh ice. 4. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Valentine's Day Cocktail This Valentine's Day Cocktail comes to us fromMakoto, an innovative Japanese restaurant in Bal Harbour, Florida, and it will be served there forValentine's Day between Feb 14th-17th, 2013. If you miss that, you can make this fun drink at home. What I really like about this cocktail is that it is a unique mix of flavors that begins with a very fine tequila. Personally, I would go with Cazadores Reposado, though their blanco would be a very good fit as well. To go with the tequila, this mix includes the herbal flavors of Chartreuse and the juice of a single slice of blood orange. What makes this drink go over to the truly impressive side is the hint of spice from the muddled pepper that gently infuses the agave nectar. It is one spectacular cocktail when all is said and done. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 3/4 ounces Cazadores Tequila 1 ounce Yellow Chartreuse 1/2 ounce lemon juice 1/2 oz agave nectar 2 dashes orange bitters Serrano pepper slice 2 blood orange wheels (one for garnish)

Preparation: 1. In a mixing glass, muddle a slice of serrano pepper with agave nectar. 2. Add one blood orange slice and muddle again. 3. Add the remaining ingredients and shake well. 4. Strain into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass. 5. Garnish with a blood orange wheel.

Vanilla Rose Lavender and rosemary are two herbs that are fantastic together, especially in drinks. In this cocktail I've added an underlying, velvety tone to the two flavors by muddling a vanilla bean with lavender simple syrup and shaking that with rosemary-infused vodka and dry vermouth. Rosemary-infused vodka is very easy to make using one of these two recipes: Rosemary-Infused Vodka (video) or LavenderRosemary Infused Vodka(skipping the lavender if you want). Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz rosemary-infused vodka 3/4 oz dry vermouth Lavender simple syrup Half of a vanilla bean Lemon twist for garnish

Preparation: 1. Chop a half of a vanilla bean in small pieces width-wise and place it in a mixing glass. 2. Add the lavender syrup and muddle, crushing the vanilla bean. 3. Fill the glass with ice, add vodka and vermouth. 4. Shake vigorously. 5. Strain and serve either neat in a cocktail glass or on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass. 6. Garnish with a lemon twist. Vanilla Vixen The Vanilla Vixen is an interesting mix of flavors. All of the fruitiness of citrus, melon, and lime is pleasantly off-set by the musky vanilla of SKYY's vodka. I like this cocktail because it shows that flavors which we may not normally pair together can work to create a spectacular mix. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz SKYY Vanilla Vodka 2 oz SKYY Citrus Vodka 1 oz Midori melon liqueur 1/2 oz lime juice Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass with ice.

VeeV Treetini The VeeV Treetini was developed at the Stingaree in San Diego and is an interesting, very flavorful cocktail. It begins with VeeV Acai Spirit, which is distilled from acai berries with prickly pear and vitamin-B thrown in as a bonus. Add to that flavor mango juice, elderflower and orange and the drink is nothing short of delicious. For the elderflower, St. Germain will work wonderfully. Ingredients: 2 oz VeeV Acai Spirit 1 oz mango juice splash of elderflower cordial muddled orange orange slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Muddle an orange slice in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. 2. Add other ingredients and shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with an orange slice.

Vegan Eggnog Eggnog without eggs? Nothing a little tofu and soymilk can't handle. This eggless "eggnog" is not too thick and will please even those who say they don't like soymilk. Make this vegan, eggless eggnog mix ahead of time, then blend with the ice cubes just before serving. Eggnog for the Occasion Prep Time: 45 minutes Total Time: 45 minutes Yield: 10 servings Ingredients: 21 oz extra-firm silken tofu 2 cups soymilk 2/3 cup turbinado sugar, light brown sugar, or sucanat (or use 1/2 cup honey or 1 cup alternate liquid sweetener) 1/4 tsp salt 1 cup cold water 1 cup rum or brandy 4 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 20 ice cubes Nutmeg Preparation: 1. Place the crumbled tofu and soymilk in a blender with the sugar and salt. 2. Blend until very smooth. 3. Scrape this into a large bowl or pitcher, and whisk in the water, rum or brandy, and vanilla. 4. Mix well, cover, and refrigerate until serving time. 5. To serve, blend half of the mixture in the blender with 10 of the ice cubes until frothy. 6. Repeat with the other half. 7. Serve in glasses with nutmeg sprinkled on top.

Vertigo The Vertigo is a great, refreshing drink created by Duggan McDonnell to feature Averna. This sometimes forgotten, herbal liqueur shines in this mix, highlighted by light, sparkling citrus. Because the Averna is layered on top, the drink makes a transformation as you drink and adding more intrigue to the experience. Ingredients: 1/2 oz lemon juice Ginger ale 2 oz Averna liqueur lime wedge for garnish Preparation: 1. Stir lemon juice and ginger ale over ice in a highball glass. 2. Float Averna on top. 3. Garnish with a lime wedge. Very Berry Cosmo The Very Berry Cosmo is one of my favorite ways to enjoy Van Gogh AcaiBlueberry Vodka, possibly the best blueberry vodka on the market to date. In comparison with this cocktail, the originalCosmopolitan is rather bland (although still a nice drink), but I am impressed with the mix of natural blueberry and black raspberries (from Chambord) in this version. It is truly "very berry" and the two spirits combine for a very dark

purple drink that is ideal anytime you want a drink to have a dark and mysterious feel (ie. Halloween). Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Van Gogh Acai-Blueberry Vodka 1/2 oz Chambord 1/2 oz triple sec 1/2 oz cranberry juice Fresh blueberries for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with a few fresh blueberries. Victoria's Secret Victoria's Secret really has no secret at all, then again maybe the secret is the drink itself because it was a rather hard recipe to locate. This light pink cocktail is a delicate mix of citrus and strawberries that is fitting for any romantic occasion or even a ladies only cocktail party. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz crme de fraises 1 oz citrus vodka 1 oz lemon juice

Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a small amount of ice if desired. Vieux Carre The Vieux Carre (pronounced voh care-eh) is a classic cocktail straight from New Orleans. It was Walter Bergeron who created this cocktail at the Hotel Monteleone in the 1930's, naming it after the French meaning "old square" which referred to the French Quarter. This is still one of the specialties of the establishment and sipping one at the spinning Carousel Bar is a great experience. The Vieux Carre is a complex cocktail that doesn't look quite right on paper but is stunning when properly mixed. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 3/4 oz rye whiskey 3/4 oz Cognac 3/4 oz sweet vermouth Dash Peychaud's bitters Dash Angostura aromatic bitters 1/2 tsp Benedictine liqueur Cherry for garnish

Preparation: 1. Combine the ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. 4. Garnish with a cherry.

UK Sour The UK Sour is a drink that shows off the beauty of mixing with Scotch. It was developed by New York City Mixologist Damon Boelte of Prime Meats and features a smooth, very mixable whisky in Highland Park's 12 year old expression. To that, Boelte adds cinnamon, apricot, and a touch of red wine. It is an easy drink to mix up and a soothing winter sipper. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces Highland Park 12 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1/2 ounce lemon juice 1/2 ounce cinnamon syrup 1/4 ounce Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot Liqueur Float of red wine

Preparation: 1. Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake and strain into a rocks glass. 3. Float with red wine.

Union Square The Union Square is one of the new cocktails from New Amsterdam Gin that celebrate the spirit's name by honoring some landmarks and burroughs of modern day New York City. This one in particular is one of my favorites of the lot because it pairs fresh strawberries with basil and agave nectar for a very fresh, lively taste. Yet, one of the best aspects is that New Amsterdam is one of the best budget gins available, so you get fresh and quality on the cheap. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz New Amsterdam Gin 2 strawberries Sprig of basil 1/2 oz fresh lime juice 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice 1 oz agave nectar 1/2 strawberry for garnish Preparation: 1. Muddle strawberries with the basil until fully mashed in a cocktail shaker. 2. Add all other ingredients. 3. Add ice and shake vigorously. 4. Strain into a martini glass. 5. Garnish with half a strawberry. US of A Rocks

The US of A Rocks is an interesting mix and a sort of enhanced Hairy Navel. It was created for Barack Obama's inauguration festivities and served at a few of the Washington DC bars during that week. What the US of A Rocks does is mix Skyy's Passion Fruit Vodka with peach schnapps, orange juice and lemon juice. The result is a refreshing mix with a delightful mixture of fruits. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Skyy Infusions Passion Fruit Vodka 1/2 oz peach schnapps 2 oz orange juice 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 oz simple syrup peach slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Shake all ingredients with ice. 2. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. 3. Garnish with a peach slice.

UV Liberty There are three things that I love about this cocktail: it is easy, it tastes great, and it is fun to look at. It is not a fancy drink, but, as you can see in the picture, the presentation alone is spectacular. Oh, how we love blue cocktails, and this one is too much fun to pass up, especially for summer occasions like July 4th. The drink is very easy, requiring only three ingredients. UV Blue is a favorite vodka for many, not only because of its color, but for its fun raspberry flavor. That is paired with a sherbert that enhances the raspberry, and the soda is there for a little sparkle. The drink is built in a glass over ice and I've included the method below for getting that great layering effect in the picture. Present it like that, but serve it with a straw so the drinker can mix after enjoying the visual. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 part UV Blue Vodka 1 part raspberry sherbert 1 part lemon-lime soda

Preparation: 1. Place the raspberry sherbert in an old-fashioned glass half-filled with ice. 2. Add soda, then UV Blue to get that great layered effect.

Tamarind & Tequila I first fell in love with the combination of tamarind and tequila when I sampled a Tamarind Margarita at the Sauza distillery in Tequila, Mexico. This is a flavor pairing made in drink heaven and this mixed drink is a very easy way to enjoy the taste. Essentially, we're making a spiked tamarind soda. The earthy flavors of both main ingredients really shine through in this simple adaptation. Other tamarind products can be used, though I find that the nectar is best when stirring it into drinks (more on tamarind below the recipe). Also, I like to go on the sweeter side of ginger ales and use one such as Verners. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila 1 1/2 ounces tamarind nectar 1/2 ounce simple syrup Ginger ale Preparation: 1. Pour the tequila, nectar, and syrup into a highball glass filled with ice. 2. Stir well. 3. Top with ginger ale.

Tanqueray Almond This is the perfect elegant holiday cocktail for the fancy affairs of the season. Served in a snifter, the Tanqueray Almond is an aromatic cocktail that features the lovely Tanqueray London Dry Gin and an almond liqueur (amaretto works wonderfully) with a dash of sour mix and bitters to liven it up. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz Tanqueray London Dry Gin 1/2 oz almond liqueur Splash of bitters Splash of sour mix Several maraschino cherries for garnish Preparation: 1. Tarra Christi The Tarra Christi is a very interesting cocktail created by Junior Merino for Christiania Vodka. This is one of those that shows what you can do if you experiment with combinations of fresh fruit and herbs that you may not normally think of. It combines lignonberry syrup (Darbo makes a great one), cucumber, tarragon and lime, all of which are muddled before shaking with vodka. As you read through the ingredients the 3/6 lime may seem weird because it is a 1/2 a lime, but cutting it into smaller pieces is easier to muddle. Ingredients: 2 1/2 oz Christiania Vodka 1 oz lingonberry syrup 2 cucumber wheels 5 tarragon leaves 3/6 of a lime Preparation: 1. Muddle the lingonberry syrup, cucumber, tarragon and lime. 2. Add the vodka and ice. 3. Shake well. 4. Strain into an old-fashioned glass with ice.

Teacher's Pet An Aggravation is an easy lowball drink served on the rocks. It's a nice flavor combination of Scotch and coffee that is perfect for fall evenings. It is also sometimes called a Teacher's Pet. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz Scotch whisky 1 oz coffee liqueur Milk or cream Preparation: 1. Pour the Scotch and coffee liqueur in an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. 2. Fill with milk or cream. 3. Shake by placing a mixing tin over the glass and giving it one or two good shakes. Tempest This fun highball features a herbal digestif from Hungary. Zwack has been gaining in popularity for a few years, primarily as a shot alternative toJagermeister, but it is in cocktails like this that the spirit really shines. The drink is a simple one, which is the best way to mix Zwack. The only ingredient that will take some time is the ginger syrup, but this is a useful ingredient that you may want to have around anyway and it really is easy to make. That and

the Zwack have this interesting compliment of sweet and spice and the lime and bitters of The Tempest seem to bring all of the flavors into unison. This is a tall drink you may want to serve after dinner because, being a digestif, Zwack is a is designed to aid digestion. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces Zwack Herbal Liqueur 3/4 ounce lime juice 1/2 ounce ginger syrup Dash of bitters 1 ounce club soda Orange slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour all ingredients, except the soda, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled highball glass filled with fresh ice. 4. Top with club soda. 5. Garnish with an orange slice. Tequila Fuego Traditional Mexican flavors highlight your favorite premium tequila in this spicy shot. Serves one. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz premium tequila 1 teaspoon hot chile sauce

1 teaspoon lime juice 1 dash onion powder 1 lime wedge kosher salt 1 jalapeno ring

Tezn Grenada If you find a Tequila Sunrise to your liking, you're almost sure to like a Grenada as well. The only difference between the too is that the Sunrise uses orange juice and the Grenada has grapefruit juice. Both are excellent with either a blanco or reposadotequila. Ingredients: 1 oz Tequila Tezn grapefruit juice splash of grenadine

Preparation: 1. Pour the tequila into a highball glass filled with ice. 2. Fill with grapefruit juice. 3. Top with grenadine

Thai Welcome Drink The Sabai Sabai is also known as a Thai Welcome Drink and features the Thai spirit, Mekhong. You can also think of this as a Mekhong Collins served neat, similar to a John Collins. The basil should be a nice touch against the sweet and sour. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 shots Mekhong 1 1/2 shots fresh squeezed lemon juice 3/4 shots simple syrup Finger pinch of sweet Thai basil Club soda Preparation: 1. Pour Mekhong and the rest of the ingredients except club soda into a mixing glass. 2. Add ice and shake vigorously for 7-8 seconds. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Top off with club soda.

Thanksgiving Cider Thanksgiving day dinner is complex enough, so why not have a simple, refreshing drink to go along with the day. The Thanksgiving Cider is a great candidate because it has a pumpkin pie-flavored base via Pinnacle's new vodka for 2012. It is topped off with apple cider, then a splash of soda for a little sparkle. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 part Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka 3 parts apple cider Splash of club soda Lemon wedge for garnish Preparation: 1. Build the ingredients in the order listed inside an icefilled highball glass. 2. Garnish with a lemon wedge. There Will Be Rum There Will Be Rum was created to celebrate the 2008 Academy Award nomination of the film There Will Be Blood. The base of the cocktail is rather simple, Malibu rum, ruby red grapefruit juice and grenadine, but it is the Champagne that turns this drink into one worthy of watching the celebrities on the Red Carpet. Ingredients: 1 oz Malibu Rum

1 oz ruby red grapefruit juice dash of grenadine syrup chilled G.H. Mumm Champagne strawberry slice for garnish

Preparation: 1. Shake the rum, grapefruit juice and grenadine in acocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Strain into a Champagne glass. 3. Fill up with Champagne. 4. Garnish with a strawberry slice on the rim.

Tickled Pink The Tickled Pink cocktail is a perfect Champagne drink for any romantic occasion and will wow yourValentine year round. This bubbly drink is a fruity mixture of your favorite Champagne and X-Rated Fusion Liqueur and is one of the easiest drinks to make. Ingredients: Champagne 1 oz X-Rated Fusion Liqueur Preparation: 1. Fill a Champagne flute 2/3 full of Champagne. 2. Top with X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. Tymello Caipirinha The Tymello Caipirinha is a personal variation of the Brazilian classic cocktail, the Caipirinha. Here I've cut the cachaca, added TY KU to make up for it and skipped the lime, choosing to muddle pumello instead. If you're not familiar with the pumello, it is like a large grapefruit, only sweeter and usually has less juice. You can usually find it in the produce section

between November and May and it is one of those great winter reminders (for those of us in the north) that warm days and fresh fruit do exist. Ingredients: 1 oz TY KU liqueur 1 oz cachaca 4-5 3/4" chunks of pumello 2 tsp fine sugar Preparation: 1. Place the pumello and sugar into an old-fashioned glass. 2. Muddle 3. Fill the glass with ice. 4. Add the cachaa and TY KU and stir well. Twilight Dove I created the Twilight Dove when asked to recommend drinks for a group of teenage girls'"Twilight" movie party when New Moon was released on DVD. This purple drink seems perfect because it has the dark hue that mimics the tone of the movie and the name of the drink symbolizes both the love story of the movie and the innocence of the drink. Plus, the flavor ended up being appealing to my young audience - sort of a play off the Grape Nehi. If you cannot find lavender soda (DRY makes a great one) ginger ale will work, but I encourage you to keep an eye out for the soda because it makes a world of difference. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes

Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 1 oz cranberry juice 3 oz grape juice 1 tsp agave nectar Lavender soda Preparation: 1. Pour the juices and nectar into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Top with lavender soda.

Sweet Heat Just as the name implies, this cocktail marries sweet and heat. It is the creation of Alex Straus of Suite 700 at the Hotel Shangri-La in Los Angeles and features SKYY Vodka's new flavor, ginger. This seems like a bold move, what with the habanero and ginger paired in a martini-style drink, but it is quite delicious because it does have a balance of the sweet and spicy. As with all spicy cocktails, I encourage you to ease into the use of pepper here and remember that there should be a balance of flavors, which I'm sure you will find if you follow the recipe. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Drink

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz SKYY Infusions Ginger Vodka 1/2 oz Small, De-seeded Habanero Pepper Slice 3/4 oz Agave Syrup 3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice Candied Ginger Preparation: 1. Gently muddle pepper slice in a cocktail shaker. 2. Add the rest of the ingredients, with the exception of candied ginger, with ice. 3. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with candied ginger on rim of glass.

Sweet Meat Renowned Virginia cocktailian Todd Thrasher has created this cocktail around Basil Hayden's bourbonas an homage to the sweet fruit candies that were once prevalent throughout the southern United States. While this isn't the quickest cocktail to produce, if you are looking for a unique way to celebrate Independence Day, this may be the drink for you. Redolent of honey, peaches and pecans, this drink is both tasty and complex. Try one and let me know what you think. Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 40 minutes Total Time: 50 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Basil Hayden's bourbon 1 1/2 oz Pecan Peach water (see instructions below) 1 dash peach bitters lemon twist, garnish

Preparation: 1. In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients with ice. 2. Stir for 30 seconds. 3. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a large lemon twist

Pecan Peach water Ingredients 1 quart of pecan pieces 2 peaches roughly chopped 2 quarts water 1/2 quart honey Instructions 1. On a baking sheet, spread pecans evenly and toast in a 300 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes or until oils begin to come out of the pecans. 2. Bring water to a boil on a stovetop. 3. Reduce to a simmer and add honey and peaches. 4. Add pecan pieces to the water & honey mixture and allow to infuse for 30 minutes. 5. Remove from heat and let cool. 6. Strain first through a chinois then through a coffee filter to remove sediment and solids. Run for the Roses This Run for the Roses cocktail is a delightful mixed drink that Grey Goose revealed to celebrate the135th Kentucky Derby. It is filled with flavors of the South including orange and peach with a traditional Southern iced tea to bring it all together. I think the rose petal garnish is a very nice touch and you have to love any drink with a Chambord float. As intended, this could be used as a great alternative to the Derby's traditional Mint Julep.

Recipe makes 2 drinks. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 2 Cocktails Ingredients: 3 parts Grey Goose L'Orange flavored vodka 2 parts peach brandy 2 parts Southern sweet iced tea 2 parts fresh lime juice 2 rose petals for garnish Chambord for floating Preparation: 1. Add first four ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake vigorously until the outside of shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat. 3. Strain into two rocks glasses filled with crushed ice. 4. Pour Chambord so that it floats on the top of the drink. 5. Garnish drink with rose petals. Ramos Fizz Also known as a Ramos Fizz, the New Orleans Fizz was created in the late 1800's by Henry C. Ramos in New Orleans. The cocktail became so popular that by the 1915 Mardi Gras celebration Ramos' 35 "shaker boys" could not keep up with demand. This classic cocktail is one to add to your list of drinks to know but

remember to shake it really well to make sure the egg is completely mixed. In fact, your best fizz comes from shaking until it hurts. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz gin 1/2 oz lime juice 1/2 oz lemon juice 1 1/4 oz simple syrup 2 oz milk, half & half, or cream 1 small egg white 2 dashes fleurs d'orange (orange flower water) Club soda Preparation: 1. Place all of the ingredients except the club soda into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake vigorously (more than normal to ensure the egg and cream are well mixed). 3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. 4. Top with club soda. Raspberita This recipe for a raspberry-flavored Margaritafeatures a wonderful liqueur, Fruj Raspberry. You will find that the raspberry flavors of this cocktail are rather authentic and true to fresh, hand-picked raspberries. However, for a little extra fruit flavoring you may also want to muddle a few fresh raspberries with the simple syrup before shaking up the rest of the mix. Then use one or two more raspberries for a garnish.

Ingredients: 1 oz Fruj Raspberry Liqueur 1 1/2 oz. Sauza Hornitos Tequila 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice 1/2 oz. simple syrup Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Pour into a chilled margarita glass. Raspberry Bellini The Raspberry Bellini is a nice little twist on theChampagne Cocktail and the Bellini - okay there's quite a difference but it's another great drink from Junior Merino. In this drink cachaca, the Brazilian rum, is the base and is perfectly flavored with fresh raspberries. I've tried both dry and sweet Champagnes and both finish the drink off wonderfully, despite each creating a different result. Ingredients: 2 oz Leblon Cachaca 6 raspberries dash of lime juice 2 tsp superfine sugar top with Champagne

Preparation: 1. Muddle the raspberries, sugar and lime juice in acocktail shaker.

2. 3. 4. 5.

Fill with ice and add cachaca. Shake vigorously. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with Champagne.

Raven The Raven is a dark and mysterious cocktail that I've adapted from other recipes. I like this one because it contains ingredients that are more common in bars than those found in other Ravens. The key to this drink is the layer which is rather easy to obtain in this mix as the blue shaken mix is much lighter than the Chambord and they rarely break the layers unless stirred. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 oz vodka 1 oz rum 1 oz blue curacao 1/2 oz Chambord Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka, rum and blue curacao into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. 3. Slowly pour the Chambord over the back of a bar spoon so it floats on top.

Razzie Jazzie One of my challenges with Hiram Walker Original Cinn Schnapps was to create a summertime drink with this liqueur that tastes like a breakfast cinnamon roll. The Razzie Jazzie was the result and it's surprisingly refreshing. The cinnamon and jasmine are very pleasant and mild together and while I tried regular lemonade, the drink was missing something and the raspberry lemonade was the key, taking the bitter out of the lemonade. Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 1 part ABSOLUT vodka 1 part Hiram Walker Original Cinn Schnapps 2 parts chilled jasmine tea 2 parts raspberry lemonade 1 barspoon simple syrup Fresh mint for garnish Lemon slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka, schnapps, and syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake well. 2. Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice cubes. 3. Add equal parts iced jasmine tea and raspberry lemonade. 4. Stir well and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lemon slice.

Re-VeeV-er Blueberries and VeeV Acai Spirit are a wonderful mix and the ReVeeV-er is a great example. This is a very simple punch recipe that makes a decent sized pitcher that is ideal for serving a few friends and makes a nice summer brunch compliment. A variation of this is to begin with muddling 5 mint sprigs with the simple syrup, then adding the other ingredients and topping it off with club soda. Prep Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 10 minutes Yield: 1 Pitcher Ingredients: 1/2 bottle VeeV Acai Spirit 10 oz blueberry puree (see this cheesecake recipefor tips) 6 oz fresh lime juice 3 oz simple syrup fresh or frozen (wild) blueberries for garnish Preparation: 1. Fill a pitcher 3/4 way with ice. 2. Add all ingredients. 3. Stir well.

Red Beer Red Beer (or Red Eye) is a no brainer if you think about it: beer and tomato juice. I often hear people refer to this as a Bloody Mary; a clear misconception, but a common one. Any beer can be used in this drink, although I would advice using a lighter one that is inexpensive (save the good beer for drinking alone). You can also dress up the flavor in the same way you would a Bloody Mary, by using hot sauce, pepper, celery salt, etc. Prep Time: 2 minutes Total Time: 2 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz tomato juice 14 oz beer Salt to taste Preparation: 1. Pour the tomato juice into a beer mug. 2. Fill with beer. 3. Add salt to taste.

Red Lotus In the Red Lotus cocktail the distinct flavor of lychee liqueur is accented with the lighter taste of cranberry. It's an interesting play of flavors that is both intensely sweet and delicately refreshing. I like to garnish a Red Lotus with three pitted lychees skewered on a cocktail pick. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz vodka 1 1/2 oz Lichido Liqueur 1 oz cranberry juice Preparation: 1. Pour the vodka, Lichido and cranberry juice into acocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Rhyme & Reason Sean Kenyon of Steubens in Denver, Colorado put together this delightful autumn cocktail that features a great cachaca, Boca Loca. The Rhyme & Reason is mostly made up of ingredients that we would think of as more tropical, but it is the cinnamoninfused simple syrup that gives it the cool weather taste. To make this simple syrup is very easy and you can use the methods of this cardamom simple syrup recipe to make it. Once

you have a batch made up you can use it as a substitute for plain syrup to add that autumn spin on almost any of your other favorite cocktails. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz Boca Loca Cachaa 1/2 oz Aperol 3/4 oz cinnamon simple syrup 1/2 oz fresh lime juice 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice lime wheel for garnish Preparation: 1. Shake all of the ingredients together with ice in a mixing glass. 2. Strain over fresh ice in a collins glass. 3. Garnish with a lime wheel. Rose Cocktails taking on the name 'Rose' have taken many forms over the years. A brandy base of some sort tends to be the common factor in many of the Rose recipes. One reference in my library is in the Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book, which refers to a drink of Grand Marnier and dry gin, stirred. What is sometimes called the French version is typically seen with cherry brandy like the recipe below and theEnglish Rose (more popular in bartending guides) employs the apricot variety. Still, some recipes skip the gin altogether. There is yet another Rose, which the IBA(International Bartenders Association) lists under 'Contemporary Classics' in its official cocktails list. That recipe, which is distinctive because of the strawberry syrup is below this first recipe.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz gin 1/2 oz dry vermouth 1/2 oz cherry brandy or Kirsch Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Rose Cocktail Recipe 1/2 ounce Kirsch 1 1/2 ounce dry vermouth 3 dashes strawberry syrup Packers Punch With Superbowl XLV looking to be the greatest Superbowl ever played and featuring two of the National Football League's most iconic teams in the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, whiskey fans will have a lot to cheer about on February 6th. Makers Mark has created this Packers Punch as a quick, easy recipe to share with friends and family during the big game. Give it a try and root your team to victory this year! This punch will yield 8-10 servings, so its easy to make ahead so that you can devote more time to watching the game.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 10 minutes Yield: 8-10 servings Ingredients: 12 oz Makers Mark Bourbon Whiskey 4 oz triple sec 32 ounces lemonade 16 oz lemon-lime soda 1 apple, sliced thinly Preparation: 1. Combine all ingredients in a punchbowl. 2. Add ice, stir to incorporate ingredients. 3. Serve. Paradise The Paradise is one of the lesser known classic cocktails that has long been a favorite aperitif. Where the Martini is dry the Paradise is sweet and fruity and a nice precursor to summer dinners. If you can use fresh squeezed orange juice to compliment the gin. And, for the gin a London dry like Martin Miller's is perfect. This is the neat version of the drink, but aParadise shooter is also pretty popular. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz gin 1 oz apricot brandy 2 oz orange juice Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a well-chilled cocktail glass.

Paulista The Paulista is a delightful blend of lavender and blueberries with a great cachaa for a base. It was created by Humberto Marques, who focuses his cocktails on fresh and premium ingredients. Marques tends bar at the prestigious Oloroso in Edinburgh, Scotland. He also put together an informative analysis of Herbs & Spices in Cocktail Mixology. You can either make your own lavender-infused simple syrup or use one of the pre-bottled brands like Sonoma. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 50ml Beija- Flor Velha Cachaca 12 blueberries 12.5 ml lavender syrup 12.5 ml blueberry liqueur 25 ml lime juice lavender sugar for rimming Preparation: 1. Muddle the blueberries with lavender syrup and blueberry liqueur. 2. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake over ice. 3. Strain into a martini glass rimmed with lavender sugar.

Peach Cobbler This Peach Cobbler is as delightful as it is easy. The sweet, creamy mix is comprised of Ciroc Peach Vodka, a hazelnut liqueur, and heavy cream, though you will find that as the ice melts in the glass it gets even better, taking some of the heaviness out of the drink. The rim of brown sugar and graham crackers is sort of like the icing on the cake and can be left off or done on only half of the rim, which allows the drinker to choose more sweetness or not. There are a handful of hazelnut liqueurs available on the market, with Frangelico being the most popular. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 3/4 ounce Ciroc Peach Vodka 3/4 ounce hazelnut liqueur 3/4 ounce heavy cream Brown sugar and crushed graham cracker for rimming Preparation: 1. Rim an old-fashioned glass with brown sugar and crushed graham crackers. 2. Pour the cocktail ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 3. Shake well. 4. Strain over fresh ice in the prepared glass.

Peach Punch Hal Wolin, of The Cocktail Guru, created this delightful cocktail that is simple, elegant, and tantalizing. The cocktail features New Amsterdam's new peach-flavored vodka, a sprightly and reasonably priced vodka that works wonders with other light fruits. The drink would be rather boring, however, if it were not for that little punch for elderflower. St. Germain would be the liqueur of choice in this instance, and its light profile compliments and enhances the fruits. This recipe would be an ideal candidate for serving as a punch for a party, shower, or even in a pitcher for brunch. Read more about transforming the recipe... Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 ounces New Amsterdam Peach Vodka 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice 1/2 ounce fresh orange juice 1/2 ounce elderflower liqueur Lemon wedge or peach slice for garnish Preparation: 1. Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with a lemon or peach slice (when they are in season).

Pimm's Cup The Pimm's Cup is really just one of the preferred ways to drink a particular distilled spirit, and so the drink took on the brand name. That liqueur is Pimm's No. 1, a gin-based spirit with the flavor of fruit and spice and adding a mixer as subtle as lemonade enhances its character and turns it into a refreshing summer drink that has long been a favorite in the U.K. (read more about the history of Pimm's and find a traditional recipe). Ginger ale or lemon-lime soda are occasionally used to replace the lemonade and at other times club soda is added to the original recipe. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 2 oz Pimm's No. 1 3 oz lemonade Lemon twist for garnish Cucumber slice or peel for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the Pimm's into a collins glass with ice cubes. 2. Add the lemonade and (if desired) a splash of club soda or lemon-lime soda. 3. Garnish with the lemon twist and cucumber.

Variations: Pimm's Rangoon: Substitute ginger ale for the soda. Pimm's Royal: Substitute Champagne for the soda. Pia Colada Almost everyone has heard of the Pia Colada (thanks in part to the 1979 Rupert Holmes song"Escape (The Pia Colada song)") and almost just as many people have probably tried one. It is one of the most popular tropical cocktails and it is definitely one of the creamiest. This shaken version is a more recent adaptation of the original Frozen Pia Colada from the 1950's. Personally, I prefer the frozen version, but this is a nice option if a blender is not handy. Prep Time: 4 minutes Total Time: 4 minutes Yield: 1 Drink Ingredients: 2 oz pineapple juice 2 oz light rum 1 1/2 oz cream of coconut Pineapple wedge for garnish Maraschino cherry for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Pour into a chilled cocktail or collins glass. 4. Garnish with the pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry.

Pink Gin Pink Gin is also known as Gin & Bitters and it's quite simply those two ingredients: gin and bitter s. This drink was originally created by the Royal Navy to make Angostura bitters, which they used as a medical treatment for their sailors, more palatable. You may also hear the term "Gin Pahit" in many 19th century sailing stories such as those by W. Somerset Maugham. This is the virtually the same drink, only the name has been lost in time. The word "pahit" is Malay for "bitters." What ever you want to call it, it is a fabulous aperitif Martini. Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz gin 3-4 dashes Angostura bitters Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Stir well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Pink Lady The Pink Lady is a classic cocktail that has a light blush color contributed by the dashes of grenadine. It was one of the first "girly drinks" and a favorite of the high society ladies of the 30's. The key to this drink (and any shaken with egg) is to shake it longer than you would with most cocktails to ensure that

everything is mixed well. The egg also makes a great foamy top of the pink liquid, creating an intimate looking finished cocktail. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minut es Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces gin 3/4 ounce applejack 1/4 ounce lemon juice 1-2 dashes grenadine 1 egg white Maraschino cherry for garnish Preparation: 1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 2. Shake vigorously. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Garnish with the cherry Maraschino Cherries as a Garnish: From Manhattans to Pina Coladas, maraschino cherries are one of the most popular garnishes for cocktails. They are easy to add to the drink and that little red ball adds a finishing touch with just a splash of class that can dress up most drink, no matter the flavor. If you are looking for a garnish with a true cherry flavor standard maraschinos are not the way to go. Instead, use another fresh cherry or go with one of the

"natural" maraschinos. These are best for making "flags" with an orange, pineapple, or other slice of fruit. Also, the different colored maraschino cherries (blue, green) are fun, though the flavor can be a little off from what you may expect. This is especially apparent with green maraschinos, which are rather minty. Unless the cocktail calls for it specifically, always serve a cherry with the stem intact so the drinker can easily pop it in their mouth if they choose. The modern maraschino, due to its artificial sweeteners and coloring agents, are more candy than cherry and, while they do not add much flavor to a drink, drinkers often enjoy the sweet treat at the end of their cocktail. Maraschino liqueur preserved maraschino cherries are still commercially available, though limited availability and a price that matches is an inhibitor for many bartenders. Pisco Sour I fell in love with the Pisco Sour in a Peruvian restaurant where many other pisco drinks adorned the menu. This cocktail is refreshing and one of the most popular drinks in Peru and Chile, where pisco is typically produced. Pisco is an unaged brandy but it has unique characteristics and this simple sour drink is a great introduction to it. If drinking raw egg concerns you feel free to use an egg substitute, it is not quite the same drink in the end but is close enough to count. Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail

Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounce pisco 3/4 ounce lemon ju ice 1 ounce simple syrup egg white 3 dashes Angostura bitters Preparation: 1. Pour the pisco, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Add Angostura bitters to taste.
