YEAR 10 MATHEMATICS ASSIGNMENT

DESCRIPTION You have been given the task to keep track of the payroll for your company pick a name. This assignment involves the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and all relevant formulae to calculate wages, overtime, income tax, Medicare Levy, other deductions and net pay. The assignment is due by 3:05pm on Thursday, 23rd of August 2012. 1. WAGES a) Open a new spreadsheet tab Sheet 1 and rename it to Wages. Enter the following data into your spreadsheet: Cell A1 Your company name Row 2 Family Name, First name, Hours worked on weekdays, Hours worked on weekends, Hourly pay rate, Weekly regular pay, Weekly overtime pay, Weekly wage, Annual wage, Annual tax, Weekly tax, Medicare Levy, Other weekly deductions, Weekly net pay

b) Calculate the hours worked for each employee. The above rates do not include the Medicare levy of 1.5%

g) The current Medicare levy is charged at 1.5% of the taxable income (which is your annual wage). Calculate the Medicare levy for each employee. [Hint: =insert cell here*0.015/52] h) Calculate the deductions for each employee. 2. BONUSES
a) Open a new spreadsheet tab Sheet 2 and rename it to Bonuses. Copy and paste the names of employees into the new spreadsheet. [i.e. Column A, Column B] b) Create a column titled Annual Overtime hours and enter the following data.

c) Create a column titled Bonus. If an employee works more than 50 hours of overtime in a certain year, they are entitled to a $500 bonus from the employer. In cell D5 use the formula =IF(C5>50,500,0). Fill down for the cells D6 to D14.

d) Highlight the names of employees yellow if they are entitled to the annual bonus.
