COURSE DESCRIPTION
Thisonlinemicroeconomicscourseisanintroductiontomacroeconomicanalysisofthe economyasawhole,includingthedeterminationofnationalincome,thepricelevel, interestrates,themoneysupply,andthebalanceofpayments.Theprinciplesofmonetary andfiscalpolicyarealsoexamined.ECON111/3.0andECON112/3.0aretogether equivalenttoECON110/6.0.

COURSE INTRODUCTION
TherearetwomainbranchesinEconomics:MicroeconomicsandMacroeconomics. EconomicscoursesarecommonlydividedintotwosectionstodealwithMicroand Macroseparately.Microeconomics(thesubjectofthiscourse)byitsnamesuggeststhatit isprimarilyconcernedwiththesmallereconomicagentstheconsumer,theproducer,the buyer,theseller,inputs,outputs,etc.Macroeconomics,ontheotherhand,isprimarily concernedwiththelargereconomicagentsgovernments,taxes,nationalincome,inflation, monetaryandfiscalpolicy.WhetheryoutakeMicroorMacroasyourfirstcoursein economicswillnothinderyourunderstandingofthematerial.However,itisgenerally acceptedthatifonehasastrongunderstandingofthemicroconcepts,onewillhavea strongerappreciationandawarenessofmacroeconomics;becausemacroeconomicsisina sense,thesummationofmicroeconomics.
