MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH

Happy New Year to all of our Beagle families! Our extended break brought many unexpected weather-related problems to our area, but I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Did any of you make a New Years resolution? Many people resolve to lose weight, quit a bad habit, eat better, or exercise more. Essentially, a resolution is a goal or a promise. We have been working on learning goals this entire year. Your childs teacher has a learning goalor multiple goalsfor each subject he/she teaches each day. When your child gets home each day, ask him/her what goals they worked on that day, as well as the activities they did to help them meet their goals. These two inquiries should start some very good conversations! I encourage you to help your child(ren) set a goal for themselves this year. No matter what your childs age, he/she can resolve to work harder at something, either at home or at school. Maybe he/she could keep his bedroom cleaner, resolve to read every day before bed, dedicate time each day for helping others, resolve to use better manners, or to solve conflicts more peacefully. No matter what the resolution, the New Year is a great time to reinforce to your child that goal setting and dedicated, consistent work towards that goal is worthwhile.
