LAST WEEKS HIGHLIGHTS vs. Bridgeport (1/10): Goaltender Martin Jones earned his 10th win of the season in his first game back as the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Right wings Sean Backman, Brandon Kozun, and Scott Sabourin joined center Linden Vey on the scoreboard for the Monarchs. Right wing Joe Diamond scored the lone goal for the Sound Tigers. Jones (10-2-2) earned his 10th win of the season making 31 saves on 32 shots. Sound Tigers netminder Kenny Reiter (7-6-2) took his sixth loss of the season, stopping 31-of-33 shots. Manchester was 1-for-6 on the power play. Bridgeport went 1-for-5 with the man advantage. @ Albany (1/11): Center Scott Timmins collected three points as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Albany Devils, 5-2, at Times Union Center on Saturday night. Right wing Brian ONeill and center Nick Shore scored for the Monarchs. Center Kelly Zajac, left wing Joe Whitney, and defenseman Brandon Burlon joined Timmons on the scoreboard for the Devils. Monarchs netminder J.F. Berube (14-10-2) took his 10th loss of the season making 16 saves on 20 shots. Devils netminder Keith Kincaid (14-6-1) earned his 14th win of the season, stopping 21-of23 shots. Manchester was 1-for-4 on the power play. Albany also went 1-for-4 with the man advantage. @ Providence (1/12): Goaltender Martin Jones stopped 32 shots to backstop the Manchester Monarchs to a 2-1 victory over the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Sunday evening. Defenseman Vincent LoVerde and right wing Zach OBrien scored for the Monarchs. Defenseman Zach Trotman scored the lone goal for the Bruins. Jones (11-2-2) earned his 11th win of the season making 32 saves on 33 shots. Bruins goaltender Niklas Svedberg (14-7-3) took his seventh loss of the season, stopping 19-of-21 shots. MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES The Manchester Monarchs (25-10-2-4) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 56 points. The Providence Bruins (20-13-1-5) sit in second place in the division with 46 points. The St. Johns IceCaps (19-15-1-2) are in third place in the division with 41 points. The Worcester Sharks (17-15-2-1) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 37 points. The Portland Pirates (15-14-1-5) sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 36 points. Manchester leads the American Hockey League with 56 points in 41 games. The Monarchs 10 point lead in the Atlantic Division is the largest divisional lead in the Eastern Conference and tied for the largest overall in the AHL. The Monarchs are ranked 27th in the AHL on the power play with 22 goals on 160 attempts. Manchester is ranked 17th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 146-of-178 times. Manchester lost their first game in regulation on the road on a Saturday this year with a 5-2 loss against the Albany Devils on Saturday. The Monarchs have an overall record of 12-2-0-1 on Saturdays. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones and right wing Linden Vey have been named to the roster for the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Assante Wealth Management, to be played at the Mile One Centre in St. Johns, Newfoundland on February 11-12, 2014. This will be Jones second AHL All-Star appearance. It is Veys first time being named to the AHL All-Star roster. Former Monarchs and current Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown and goaltender Jonathan Quick have been named to the 2014 U.S. Olympic Mens Hockey Roster, which was revealed January 1. Both Brown and Quick were on the silver-medal winning 2010 U.S. Olympic Hockey team. Former Monarchs and current Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was named to the 2014 Russian Olympic Mens Hockey Roster on January 7. This will be Voynovs first time representing Russia in the Olympics. Center Jordan Weal (8-23=31) leads the Monarchs with 23 assists and 31 points. Weal is tied for sixth place in the AHL with 23 assists. Weal is also tied for 15th in the AHL with 31 points. Right wing Brandon Kozun (10-19=29) ranks second on the Monarchs with 19 assists and 29 points. Vey (6-16=22) is ranked fifth on the Monarchs with 22 points. Vey has recorded eight points (3-8=11) in 10 games since his return from Los Angeles. After recording two assists this weekend, Vey became the Monarchs ninth all-time leader with 85 assists from 2011 - present. Vey also collected five assists in 14 games with the Kings from November 1 and December 19, 2013.

Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-13=18) and forward Nick Shore (7-11=18) are tied for sixth place on the Monarchs with 18 points each. Bodnarchuk leads the Monarchs and the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-27. Shore has collected six points (3-3=6) in his last five games. Right wing Scott Sabourin (10-7=17) is ranked eighth on the Monarchs with 17 points. Sabourin is tied with Kozun for third place on the team with 10 goals each. Right wing Brian ONeill (9-6=15) and left wing Andy Andreoff (6-9=15) are tied for ninth place on the Monarchs with 15 points each. ONeill is ranked third in the AHL in shooting percentage, scoring nine goals on 32 shots (28.1%). ONeill and Deslauriers lead the Monarchs and are tied for 11th place in the AHL with three game-winning goals. Andreoff leads the Monarchs and is tied for 14th in the AHL with 94 penalty minutes. Right wing Tyler Toffoli (7-5=12), defenseman Derek Forbort (1-11=12), and defenseman Vincent LoVerde (1-11=12) are tied for 11th on the Monarchs roster with 12 points each. Toffoli has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 32 games with the Kings. He was recalled on November 1, 2013. LoVerde ranks second on the Monarchs and in the AHL with a plus-24 rating. Jones made his National Hockey League debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout. Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7. The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Kings 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10. In 11 games with the Kings, Jones collected a record of 8-3-0, a .950 save percentage, a 1.41 goals-against-average, and three shutouts. Jones eight wins tied the NHL record for consecutive winning games to start an NHL career with netminder Bob Froese who won his first eight games with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1982-83 season. Jones is the first goaltender in NHL history to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning the first eight appearances of his career. Jones is the third goaltender in NHL history to record three shutouts in his first six starts. Goaltender Flat Walsh accomplished the feat with the New York Americans during the 1928-29 season and netminder Frank Brimsek did it with the Boston Bruins during the 1938-39 season. Jones is 2-0-0 in two games since returning to the Monarchs. Jones has an overall record of 11-2-2 with a 2.08 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage, and one shutout in 15 games this season. Jones leads all AHL goaltenders with a .933 save percentage. His 2.08 goals-against average is tied for first in the league. Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories: Games played 151 first place Wins 79 first place Losses 56 first place Ties/Shootout Losses 9 tied for second place Goals-against-average 2.43 eighth place Save percentage .922 tied for sixth place Shutouts 11 third place Saves 4,103 first place Goaltender Jean-Francios Berube registered a 14-8-2 record in 24 consecutive starts after Jones recall to the Kings. Berube set a franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender with 20 games on December 29. His current record-setting streak sits at 24 consecutive games. He surpassed the feat of 19 games set by netminders Travis Scott from February 19 March 22, 2003, and Jason LaBarbera from November 19 December 29, 2006. Berube has collected a 14-10-2 record with a 2.65 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage in 26 games with the Monarchs this season. Monarchs Promotions Los Angeles Kings Night The Monarchs will be honoring the Los Angeles Kings and all the former Monarchs currently playing there when they host the Portland Pirates on Saturday, January 25. The Monarchs players will be wearing a specialty Kings-inspired jersey that was voted on by the fans and will be available in an auction. The first 2,000 fans will also receive a special Kings bank, courtesy of St. Marys Bank.
