For this reason the case of Ion Rimaru was not revealed for the public media until the aggressor was caught by the Romanian law-enforcement. Ion Rimaru was born on 12th of October 1946, in Romania, in the city Corabia, Olt county. He was a serial killer that terrorized Bucharest in 1971. At the time of his arrest, Rmaru was in the course of repeating his third year. Although he entered a university, one of his professors described him as shy and semi-literate, with a very poor vocabulary and an extremely narrow set of interests. His roommates reported that he behaved strangely, so they avoided him. When he became enraged, he would puncture himself; he was found to have over 20 cuts on his arms and legs. From adolescence, Rimaru had an uncontrollable libido. For instance, a university classmate reported that one night, at the dormitory, Rimaru did not sleep at all, but instead prowled outside a room where he knew a girl had come to visit a classmate .In 1967 he was diagnosed with esophageal spasm, reactive nervous syndrome and mental problems. After he was arrested, Rimaru didnt cooperate, remaining completely silent, staring expressionlessly into space. The investigators introduced an undercover police officer into his cell to talk to him and find some more information. After two months of interrogations, Rimaru admitted to 23 very serious crimes, 17 more than the ones he was arrested for. All the crimes came out only when he or his father confirmed. On the one hand, he tried to justify his actions by telling the authorities that he was not responsible for all the crimes and he had a mental illness. In the end, Rmaru was sentenced to death. This decision made everyone in the courtroom to start to applaud. Rimaru was taken to Jilava prison on 23rd of October 1971. He had to be dragged to the place of execution. Until he was dead, he kept trying to escape, but unfortunately for him he didnt succeed. The three officers charged with shooting him tied him to a post in the prison yard. When he was asked what his last wish is, Ion said to call his father because he is the guilty one. He is the one who made him a criminal.
