    Ready for transplanting. Carrying the seedlings of an heirloom rice variety Balatinow for transplanting, a young farmer of the Kankanaey tribe, in the Cordillera region in northern Philippines, walks along the bund of the rice terraces. The rice terraces were hand-carved out of the mountain slopes by his ancestors 2,000 years ago.
