DESIGN AND INSTALLATION The system consists of continuous lengths of track (generally arranged in parallel format) which are fed from the distribution board via track feed boxes and can be installed in floor voids as low as 48 mm. Track lengths fit together using integral track connectors for quick assembly with access to power via tap-offs from the shuttered outlets.
12
Tap-off units plug into shuttered socket outlets and lock on to track body. Remove by compressing side clips and pulling out.
Integral fixing brackets fixed to track 2 on 1.2 m track 2 on 2.4 m track 3 on 3.6 m track
Lengths of track fit together by simply plugging the integral track connector into the end of the previous fitted track length.
EXTENDED RANGE Available in five versions to meet all power requirements in today's modern offices... standard, low noise / clean earth, dual circuit, three phase and auxiliary earth.

BS 6396 : 2008 Electrical Systems in Office Furniture and Office Screens BS 7671 : 2008 Requirements for Electrical Installation (IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition) Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 Health and Safety Legislation
Below is a brief outline of the main criteria within the standards : BS 6396 : 2008 was published with regard to the use of electrical equipment within general office furniture and screens. This standard sets out in its scope the use and testing of electrical socket outlets and associated wiring when used together with a 13 A BS 1363 fused plug and makes provision for the routing of cables through furniture A note on individual socket fusing - BS 6396 Compliance : The standard requires individual socket fusing (as per the table below) Total number of sockets 2, 3 or 4 5 or 6 Individually fused at 5A 315 A

BS 7671 : 2008 (17th Edition). The Health and Safety Executive states that installations which conform to the standards laid down in BS 7671 : 2008 are regarded by the HSE as likely to achieve conformity with the relevant parts of The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 Special note should be taken of Regulation 543.7 within BS 7671 : 2008 earthing requirements for the installation of equipment having high protective conductor currents Regulation 543.7 has particular importance when there is a requirement for a quantity of information technology equipment being supplied from a final circuit in a location where the protective current exceeds 10 mA in normal use. Due to current in the protective conductor arising from the use of IT equipment, there is a requirement to provide a mechanically protected 4 mm2 conductor (543.7.1.3(ii)). Rotasoc achieves this when wired in accordance with the installation sheets by providing mechanically protected 5 mm2 earth conductors within the product NOTE : Rotating sockets are for direction use only, not continuous rotation

Approved by ASTA to BS 5733 : 1995 incorporating amendment No. 1 and corrigendum No. 1 Conforms to the relevant parts of BS 1363 part 2 Manufactured within an approved ISO 9001 : 2008 facility Quality assurance certificate No. 10270 Electrical test data Rated current Rated voltage Frequency up to 32 A 250 V ~ 50/60 Hz
Health & Safety Legislation Below is a brief outline of the main criteria within the standards : BS 6396 : 2008 was published with regard to the use of electrical equipment within general office furniture and screens. This standard sets out in its scope the use and testing of electrical socket outlets and associated wiring when used together with a 13 A BS 1363 fused plug for mains supply and makes provision for the routing of cables through furniture For compliance with this standard, socket outlet configurations 2 or 4 outlets should be individually fused at 5 A and 6 outlets individually fused at 315 A A note on individual socket fusing BS 6396 Compliance :
Conductor resistance at 20C 2 socket module 4 socket module Volt drop Live and neutral 2 socket module 4 socket module Protection module In-feeds : 16 A +15 mm2 32 A +4 mm2 Interconnections : 16 A/32 A +15 mm2 +4 mm2 28 m V/A 56 m V/A 40 m V/A

The standard requires individual socket fusing (as per the table below) Total number of sockets 2 or 4 sockets 5 or 6 sockets Individually fused at 5A 315 A
BS 7671 : 2008 (17th Edition). The Health and Safety Executive states that installations which conform to the standards laid down in BS 7671 : 2008 are regarded by the HSE as likely to achieve conformity with the relevant parts of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 Special note should be taken of regulation 5437 within BS 7671 : 2008 - Earthing requirements for the installation of equipment having high protective conductor currents Regulation 5437 has particular importance when there is a requirement for a quantity of information technology equipment being supplied from a final circuit in a location where the sum of their protective currents exceeds 10 mA in normal use. Due to current in the protective conductor arising from the use of IT equipment, there is a requirement to provide mechanically protected 4 mm2 conductor (543713(ii)). Intersoc achieves this when wired in accordance with the installation sheets by providing mechanically protected 5 mm2 protective conductors within the product

LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEMS Lightrak employs the tried and tested KNX (European Installation Bus) protocol. It provides power distribution for lighting, fan coil units and other small power needs, whilst also offering signal bus distribution by means of its integral twisted pair communications control circuit. The system is suitable for both dimmable (1-10 V analogue and DSI) and non-dimmable applications. By employing the KNX protocol, Lightrak can be integrated seamlessly with other KNX building controls. High speed installation... control units clip on to busbar Simple plug-in connection for power and control

Electrak buscom trunking can be used with Electraks cost effective lighting control system, Lightrak KNX, or any other systems using control protocols such as KNX, Lonworks, DALI, etc. Electraks overhead trunking couples high quality engineering with rigidity of design, and provides power for a variety of applications including lighting, heating and ventilation. The robust easy fix modular system permits loads to be suspended directly from the trunking using Electraks various fixing brackets Push fit connection keeps installation costs to a minimum Track lengths simply push fit together

technical information
Technical specification
Each line coupler can support 64 bus devices (lighting control units and multi-gang switch interface units) A maximum of 15 line couplers may be linked with a main bus line together to form an area; therefore an area can support up to 960 devices The system may be further expanded with the addition of a backbone bus line which would allow the linking together of 15 main bus lines via 15 line couplers, therefore any single system could support 14 400 devices By utilising additional line couplers this total can exceed 64 000 devices (for additional details, if required, please contact us on +44 (0) 845 600 6266) Within any bus line the following cable lengths are permitted : Power supply unit to bus device 350 m maximum Bus device to bus device 700 m maximum Total bus line length 1 000 m maximum Minimum distance between 2 power supply units on one line is 200 m(1)

Durability Electrak power distribution systems are well designed and extremely robust. They can be expected to stand up to all normal site conditions. Electrak has been short circuit strength tested by ASTA Earth fault loop impedance BS 7671 : 2008 IEE Wiring Regulations require accurate determination of the total earth loop impedance, which must be sufficiently low to allow the protective device to operate within the specified time, which for socket outlets is 04 seconds The values relevant to Electrak for calculating the earth fault loop impedance are shown in the electrical test data table, see opposite Busbar trunking rating in ambient temperatures Average ambient air temperature Rating factor (K1) 25C 11 30C 105 35C 1 40C 095 45C 090 50C 085
For ambient temperatures other than 35C apply the multiplier factor K1 to the rated current
