Right-click on a Quick Properties panel side bar, or pick the Options button on the Quick Properties panel to access options for adjusting the display and function of the Quick Properties panel. See Figure 14A-1A. The Quick Properties tab of the Drafting Settings dialog box, shown in Figure 14A-1B, includes many of the same settings, as well as additional features. NOTE
You can also display the Drafting Settings dialog box by picking Settings from the Options menu, typing DSETTINGS or DS, or right-clicking on an appropriate status bar toggle button and selecting Settings.

Press [Esc] or pick the Close button in the upper-right corner of the panel or select Close from the Options menu to hide the Quick Properties panel. Closing the Quick Properties panel does not disable the tool. If you choose not to use the Quick Properties panel, disable the panel by picking the Quick Properties button on the status bar, selecting Disable from the Options menu, right-clicking and deselecting Quick Properties on the shortcut menu, or typing [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[P]. You can also disable the panel by deselecting the Quick Properties On (Ctrl+Shift+P) check box in the Quick Properties tab of the Drafting Settings dialog box. The Location Mode cascading submenu of the Options menu allows you to select where the Quick Properties panel appears when you select an object. By default, the Cursor location mode is active, and the panel appears above and to the right of the cursor. You can also set the Cursor location mode by picking the Cursor-dependent radio button in the Quick Properties tab of the Drafting Settings dialog box. Select the Cursor-dependent radio button to enable additional options in the Palette Location area of the Quick Properties tab. Pick a position from the Quadrant drop-down list to dene where the Quick Properties panel appears in reference to the crosshairs. You can also set the distance, in pixels, from the crosshairs to the panel. A lower number displays the panel closer to the crosshairs, and a higher number displays the panel further away. The default value is 50, the minimum distance is 0, and the maximum distance is 400. The second location mode option is Static, which you can select from the Location Mode cascading submenu of the Options menu or by picking the Static radio button in the Quick Properties tab. In Static mode, the panel remains in the same location where it previously appeared, regardless of the location of the selected object or the crosshairs. You can move the panel in Cursor or Static location mode, but it will snap back to the cursor if Cursor mode is active and you pick a new object.

The Auto-Collapse option of the Options menu is active by default and collapses the list of properties if more than three properties are present. You can toggle this feature on and off using the Collapse palette automatically check box in the Palette behavior area of the Quick Properties tab of the Drafting Settings dialog box. The Palette behavior area provides a Minimum number of rows text box that controls the number of property rows displayed when the panel is in the collapsed form.
