TEACHING EXCELLENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM- 2014

The Embassy of the United States in Guatemala announces the opening of the TEA program for secondary school teachers of English, English as a Foreign Language, social studies, math, and science who are able to demonstrate English language proficiency. The TEA program is offered for a total of two si !wee" professional de#elopment programs $one program in the spring of %&'(, the other in the fall of %&'(). Teachers will be placed in cohorts of about %& teachers at eight U.S. uni#ersities that will be selected through a competiti#e process. The program will consist of academic seminars focusing on new teaching methodologies, curriculum de#elopment, lesson planning, teaching strategies, and instructional technology training. The program will also include a practicum at a U.S. secondary school where participants wor" closely with U.S. teachers and teach and present to U.S. students. *ultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be pro#ided to participants throughout the program. After returning home, teachers who successfully complete the program will be eligible for small grant awards for essential teaching materials, follow!on training for other teachers, collaborati#e pro+ects between participating American schools and their home schools, and other acti#ities that build on the e change e perience. Applicants must reside in the country of citi1enship at the time of application Applicants with recent participation in similar programs of si months or more in the U.S. or other 2estern countries should be gi#en lower priority 3lease note that this is a program for practicing teachers 4inistry of Education officials, full!time principals or educational administrators, full!time teacher trainers, uni#ersity faculty, pri#ate English Language tutors, and teachers from schools primarily ser#ing e patriates are not eligible. 5ependents are not permitted to accompany participants in this si !wee" program 6ncomplete applications will not be considered.
