Overview
The Humanity in Action Fellowship programs will run simultaneously from May 31 - June 30, 201 4. Programs are followed by the Humanity in Action International Conference, which will be held in Istanbul. Intensiv e and demanding, the Humanity in Action Fellowship brings together international groups of emerging minority rights leaders to ex plore div ersity issues, national histories of discrimination and resistance, as well as ex amples of issues affecting different minority groups today . Each program is highly interdisciplinary , and features daily lectures and discussions with renowned academics, journalists, politicians and activ ists. There is also a significant number of site v isits to gov ernment agencies, non-profit and community organizations, museums and memorials. The programs seek to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and highlight different models of action to remedy injustice. Since the point of departure in most Humanity in Action programs is the Holocaust and related issues of resistance and remembrance, Humanity in Action v alues the participation of Bosnian Fellows who bring an important perspectiv e giv en Bosnias recent history of v iolence, war and post-war challenges. Fellows from Bosnia and Herzegov ina are ex pected to participate in the BiH Senior Fellows Association once the Humanity in Action Fellowship programs endand to sustain their engagement in the issues addressed during the fellowship. T he deadline for applications is February 16, 2014.
Eligibility
Bosnian-and-Herzegov inian univ ersity students and recent graduates are welcome to apply , especially those committed to the promotion of human and minority rights, tolerance and intercultural understanding. Y ou are eligible to apply if: Y ou are a Bosnian and Herzegov inian univ ersity student (in y our second semester of studies at least) or a recent graduate (no earlier than 201 2) Y ou are proficient in English and BHS Y ou are knowledgeable about ongoing social, political and transitional trends in the country (and issues related to European Union accession). Y ou hav e interest in human and minority rights and the willingness to start or continue activ e civ ic participation by taking part in Humanity in Action activ ities in Bosnia and Herzegov ina Y ou possess strong communication skills Please note that short-term ex change students and doctoral students are not eligible to apply . Humanity in Action seeks applicants who are mature, proactiv e, self-reliant, ex perienced in grassroots activ ism and comfortable in intensiv e group activ ity and interaction. All majors and academic disciplines are encouraged to apply . Candidates who make it to the second round of the selection process will be informed about the date, time, and place for the interv iews v ia email.

Admission to the Humanity in Action Fellowship programs is ex tremely competitiv e.

Costs
Humanity in Action cov ers the costs of accommodation, transportation, meals and participation in program activ ities and prov ides a small amount of pocket money for the participants.
Program Details
Although the European Programs in Berlin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen all promote team research and debate on human rights and social justice in democratic societies, the focus of the programs differs slightly . Please see ex amples of past Humanity in Action programs to learn more about the content of the programs in Berlin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
