The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) is one of the UKs leading providers of specialist art and design education. UCA was formed through the union of The Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College (SIAD) and the Kent Institute of Art & Design (KIAD) and has campuses in ve towns close to London Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester. With a proud history spanning 150 years, UCA has produced a successful alumni of designers, artists, communicators, graphic designers, fashion designers and Oscar-winning animators. UCA Canterbury

Our campus is a short walk from the city centre and provides studios, workshops and lecture theatres for nearly 1,000 students studying specialist areas of ne art, architecture and interiors.
UCA Canterbury is home to the Canterbury School of Architecture which is the only architecture school in the country to maintain its roots within a specialist art and design institution. This distinctive environment allows close collaboration between aspiring architects, designers and ne artists and encourages a culture of experimentation and innovation.

Living in and getting around Canterbury Canterbury has lots to offer students from an eclectic mix of ancient architecture, busy bookshops and comfortable cafs, to vibrant nightlife, art galleries and great shopping. London can be reached in just under 60 minutes by train, and, the Eurostar from nearby Ashford International, links to Paris in just two hours. UCA Epsom

1.

UCA Epsom is renowned as a major centre for fashion management and marketing, design management and graphic design. Our courses prepare you for your career through professional projects and work placements and have excellent links with industry.
Resources at UCA Epsom include the multi-million pound Library & Learning Centre stocked with relevant, specialist materials and the Anglo-Japanese Textile Centre, which has produced world-class exhibitions on cultural identity and practice. In addition UCA Epsom offers a media store, inspired teaching areas and gallery spaces.

Living in and getting around Epsom Epsom is a safe, friendly and cosmopolitan town close to London, located on the edge of the beautiful Surrey hills. Epsom is a multi-cultural, metropolitan centre with excellent shopping, a theatre and cinema, bars and cafs. UCA Epsom is a 10 minute walk from the train station with trains to London taking only 35 minutes.

UCA Farnham

Located in the centre of Farnham, the UCA campus is a hub of creativity. Over 2,000 students study a wide range of creative arts subject areas including ne art, photography, textiles, crafts, lm, graphics, journalism and advertising.
To support the above study areas UCA Farnham has extensive facilities with specialist workshops for textiles, ceramics, glass and jewellery; ne art and lm studios; lm and sound editing suites; journalism newsrooms; photography studios and darkrooms.

Living in and getting around Farnham Farnham is a charming and lively town, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It has many student friendly pubs offering music nights and good food. There are also lots of restaurants to suit every taste and a range of shops and boutiques. Farnham has a strong artistic heritage and the town has a number of galleries and arts centres offering a wide range of artistic entertainment. UCA Maidstone

UCA Maidstone provides a supportive community for artists, designers and media practitioners with fully integrated teaching and research facilities and studios.
The specialist workshop facilities for animation, lm, printmaking and photography are open to all our students at UCA Maidstone. You are encouraged to work with students from other subject areas and undertake experimental work as well as specialist study in your own area.

Living in and getting around Maidstone Maidstone is a friendly town with plenty of shops, cafs, bars and clubs. The thriving town centre is surrounded by glorious Kent countryside and there are lots of attractions for students offering a mix of history, culture, leisure and entertainment. UCA Rochester offers a wide range of subjects, including fashion, photography and three dimensional design. The academic focus at UCA Rochester is on building experience and preparation for the highly competitive creative arts professions.
UCA Rochester offers a state-of-the-art centre for pattern cutting (Gerber suite), a Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) studio and new textiles facilities offering the latest technology in digital printing. The Hasselblad research centre is also based here providing access to advanced digital photography equipment. Our staff and students are dedicated to producing innovative work which provokes enquiry, inspires creativity and challenges existing modes of practice and thought.

Living in Rochester Rochester has a rich history and literary heritage with a medieval cathedral and castle. New developments on the banks of the river Medway are bringing extensive cultural facilities to the city, including a theatre, conference centre, cinemas and cafs. The city offers a wide choice of restaurants and bars and an exciting arts and music scene. Central London is only 40 minutes away from Rochester by train. As a specialist arts university our extensive facilities have been developed to support the needs of each and every student.

Library & Learning Centres In addition to subject-specic facilities you also have access to the Library & Learning Centres (LLCs) on each campus. Each LLC has a dedicated subject support team to help you to use the facilities and services. Support and advice We provide specialist support and advice for all international students and a welcome programme as part of your induction. You can get advice on: dealing with nances and health care; getting to know the campus and the local area; settling into your new home and making new friends. For further information please go to www.ucreative.ac.uk/support Multi-faith services Multi-faith services are accessible to all students at each of our campuses, as part of the Universitys overall welfare provision. The service provides: people time and space to reect informally upon the wider aspects of life at their place of work and study recreational and social activities across the campuses information about the activities of the main faith groups in the local area.

English language support Once on your course you have the option to attend English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes to improve your English language and academic skills and to get help with assessments and written work. www.ucreative.ac.uk/ international/english Students Union UCA Students Union (UCASU) exists to represent students. Its job is to promote, defend and extend the rights of UCA students; empowering the student voice. The Union is run by students, for students. There are ve full-time elected ofcers, one representing each campus. The ofcers have all recently graduated from UCA and were voted into ofce by their fellow students. The Careers Service welcomes all international students studying at UCA and can provide you with help for up to three years after you graduate. We provide careers information, advice and guidance helping you make the transition to employment, self employment or further study whether you hope to stay in the UK or work elsewhere in the world. As an international student you are guaranteed xed tuition fees. This means that your tuition fee will remain at the same level that you paid on the rst year of your course for each year that you continue to study at UCA. Living costs In addition to your tuition fees you also need to budget for your general living costs. You should allow for basic living costs such as accommodation and bills, food, study costs, clothing, entertainment and other miscellaneous expenses. The costs for UCA accommodation include your heating, electricity and water, however if you are moving into private accommodation you also need to allow extra money to cover these bills. If your course needs lots of additional materials such as fabrics or lm, you also need to allow for this. We offer a range of accommodation at each campus to suit your needs and budget. Once you have formally accepted an offer of a place on a course at UCA, you will receive an application pack to apply for your accommodation. University accommodation is guaranteed for all new international students who apply before the main allocation of rooms which is carried out in mid-June. International accommodation applications received after mid-June are still given priority but it is not possible to guarantee that spaces will be available. The majority of accommodation on offer at UCA is self-catered, single study bedrooms with the option of shared or en-suite facilities.

Location Our University accommodation is located either on or within walking distance of our campuses, and are all in safe and friendly environments. Students not placed in UCA accommodation are given help and advice to nd private accommodation in the local area. The Students Union offers a wide range of services including clubs and societies, training, opportunities for you to volunteer, advice on your course and social events. You can get involved in a range of sports and activities and each campus has close links with local sports clubs and centres to give you more choice and access to facilities. There are a limited number of UCA Creative Scholarships available for students entering onto undergraduate or postgraduate courses at UCA. These scholarships have been developed with the generous support of UCA alumni, Governors and friends and are designed to support students in a variety of subjects. Eligibility criteria for each scholarships varies, from meeting basic nancial criteria, to a proven excellence or creative potential. You can apply for any of the available scholarships providing that you meet the eligibility criteria for each scholarship. If you are applying for a pre-degree or postgraduate course you must apply directly to UCA. We accept applications throughout the year and although there is no formal deadline we encourage you to apply by March in your year of entry to allow enough time to allocate you accommodation if required. If you are applying for an undergraduate course then you must apply to UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). Please note that the deadline for entry to undergraduate courses through UCAS is 15 January, however we can usually consider applications received by UCAS after this date.

Entry requirements The entry requirements for international students are the same as for UK applicants. If you do not have the qualications as outlined, we accept equivalent national or local qualications. Please see www.ucreative.ac.uk/international for more details. English Language If English is not your rst language we will require evidence of your language skills before you enrol on your course. We accept IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent qualications. Our minimum English language requirements are: For pre-degree courses - BTEC Diploma in Art & Design, or the BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design (year 1) IELTS 5.5 /TOEFL 500 (CBT 173) or equivalent. Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, or BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design (year 2) IELTS 6.0 /TOEFL 550 (CBT 213) or equivalent. For undergraduate and postgraduate courses IELTS 6.0 /TOEFL 550 (CBT 213) or equivalent. For the MBA course IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 for all components) /TOEFL 570 (CBT 230) or equivalent. For Journalism courses IELTS 7.0 / TOEFL 600 (CBT 250) or equivalent. For students who need to increase their level of English before their main course of study we offer a presessional English language course.
