This second activity is called Making an orchard. With that, we want to introduce the idea of contracts for students . The contract consists on signing a !a!er in which the students can choose which areas and level they want to work in that day. We think that "aking an orchard can #e a good "ethod to "ake our students understand what is to res!ect the environ"ent. They "ust res!ect the !lants #ut also "ake the others $class"ates, !arents, teachers,...% res!ect their orchard. That's why the orchard is located in the !layground, #ecause they have to aware of it not only in the session ti"e, #ut also in their free ti"e, showing interest in the environ"ent and in their own work and #earing in "ind that the !layground is a !lace where a lot of !eo!le can har" their work. Also, they will need to avoid disres!ectful #ehaviours towards their orchard. They have to #e res!onsi#le if they want to achieve the o#&ectives. Methods The activity consists on creating an orchard in the school !layground. 'tudents will have to !lant different vegeta#les $( ty!es% and take care of the". )irst of all, students will have to sign a contract that teachers will give the". *n this contract each student will chose the area $vegeta#le% he+she wants to work in, and the level $high level, "ediu" level or easy level% he+she feels "ore co"forta#le. ,nce they have chosen the levels, teachers will tell the" which tasks they have to do, in
conse-uence of the level they have chosen. These are the areas which their levels inside, and the tasks to #e done in each level. 'tudents will have to do the tasks that the level they have chosen, and the teachers will #e the ones who will control that the contract is #eing achieved. With that, the teachers show the i"!ortance of the contract, as students undertake with it. *ndeed, the teachers will also sign a si"#olic contract in order to reflect their co""it"ent to the task and the i"!ortance of it. ,#&ectives.
Material needed. We need so"e tools in order to "ake the orachard, such as rakes, waterings, shovels, seeds,
land, fertili5ers, gardener gloves.. 6lass distri#ution )or this activity, all the grou! will go 1 ti"es !er week for looking after the orchard.
