Lesson Plan I.

Objectives Expressive To value how important it is to know beings for what they really are and not only how they appear. To appreciate the beauty of each individual. To realize that being different is not a hindrance to be successful. Be contented and being happy with yourself inside and out. To show love and concern to people with disabilities.

Procedure A. Pre - reading 1. Unlocking of difficulties Teacher uses each word in a sentence. Pupils choose the meaning from the definition.

Title Talk (Show the book cover) By looking at the cover and reading the title, what do you think the story will be about? Who do you think is the main character in the story? Where do you think the story happened? What do you think will be the ending of the story? 2. Motivation: What do you have that other people dont have? What is in the other animals you want to change?

B. During Reading The teacher will read the narration part while some of the pupils will role play the characters in the story.

C. Post Reading 1. Engagement Activities The pupils will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given a task. Group 1 A Timeline What are the important events that happen in the story? Make a timeline showing the flow of important scenarios.

Group 2 Telephone Conversation 1. What will you say to your child every time he is being criticized and laugh at by other animals? If you are the duckling, what will you say to your mother? 2. What you would say to the ugly duckling after he left, and what do you think Ugly duckling would say to his mother. Mother duck Ugly duckling

Group 3 Journal Entry Pretend that you are the ugly duckling. Make a journal entry of how you feel every time other animals will criticize or laugh at you.

2. Initial Discussion How would you describe the farm? How would you describe the ducklings physical appearance? What is the main reason why the duckling was sad? What did the duckling feels every time the animals laughed at him? 3. Post Discussion Why does ugly duckling leave the farm? How would you feel if you are the duckling and many animals will laughed at you? What made the duckling happy for the very first time? Do you think it is right that he left the farm? Why?

Group 1 will show the class a timeline containing the most important events in the story How does the mother duck describe her last egg? How does the mother duck feel about her ducklings? What are the things that the animals usually do and say to the duckling especially if his mother was not around? Did the duckling left the farm? Why? What happen when the duckling met other animals and the wolf? What happen when the spring time arrived? Is the story has happy ending or not?

Group 2 will present to us 2 Telephone Conversation of Mother Duck and the duckling. What will you say to your child every time he is being criticized and laugh at by other animals? If you are the duckling, what will you say to your mother?

What you would say to the ugly duckling after he left, and what do you think Ugly duckling would say to his mother.

Group 3 will present to us a journal entry of the duckling. What will you feel every time other animals will laugh at you because you are different? What you would do every time they laugh at you? If you were given a chance to talk to the duckling, what would you tell him? What good and inspirational advice can you give him? As the spring time arrived, what did the duckling became? How do you think the duckling feels when he saw the changes taking place? What kind of father he became?

2. Enrichment Activity The duckling in the story has its own unique quality that makes him special. The duckling learn that he should value is real self instead of the physical appearance. List down the things that make you unique and special and list down the things that you can do to show your love and care to other people with disabilities.

What did you noticed with the way the sequence was written? Where did it start? B. Teaching/Modeling Adjectives are words that modify or describe nouns or pronouns. Adjectives can be recognized by their place in a sentence and through their form. Adjectives are used to tell the size, shape, condition, age, color and origin of a noun. It also tells ones opinion of a person, place, or thing.

C. Guided Practice Identify the Adjective used in each sentence. 1. Once upon a time there was a duck that was very happy. 2. The mother duck saw the huge egg hatched. 3. The wolf despised him and said he would not even eat him because hes ugly. 4-5. He had come to a garden full of attractive flowers and beautiful swans. D. Independent Practice Write the adjective used on our adjective wheel. I have a dog. His name is Floppy. He has a thick, shiny, white fur. He is very playful. I know that he is very happy because he wags his tail.
