Annual Paulist Appeal TODAY, Jan. 26th
Paulist seminarian Steve Petroff will be preaching for
our annual Paulist Appeal today, January 26th. The
financial support from this appeal goes towards
educating our seminarians, caring for our senior
Paulists, and supporting our vocation efforts and
Evangelization and Reconciliation ministries. Thank you for your
financial support, your prayers, and your participation in our
Paulist mission! To give online, visit: www.paulist.org/apa.

EIM BASIC (3-hour) WORKSHOP AT UCC Feb. 4th
All clergy and paid staff, and all volunteers working
with youth and vulnerable adults, at any parish or
diocesan location, are required to complete an
Application for Ministry AND are required to attend
an EIM (Ethics and Integrity in Ministry) Workshop.

If you are a volunteer working with youth or
vulnerable adults in your ministry, AND if you have not taken the
3-Hour Basic Workshop already, then this is an opportunity to
meet this requirement here at your home parish!

The Workshop will be offered on Wednesday, February 4th, from
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. To register, please visit the Diocese of Austin
webpage at: austindiocese.org.
BE SOMEONES FRIEND
Come join a group of volunteers who make people
happy! On Sunday mornings we carpool to our sister
community at the Austin State Supported Living
Center (a residential facility for people who are
mentally handicapped). We accompany residents to a
Catholic prayer service we hold in the Chapel. Many of these folks
are in wheelchairs and could not come to church without us. For
more information, sign up at the front counter; call Kathy Hackett
at (512) 928-1776; or email AustinLivingCenter@utcatholic.org.

Achieving energy savings is at the top of the business
managers list of New Years resolutions. The UCC
is pleased to be partnering with Ideal Impact, an
energy consulting organization based in Dallas that is
committed to returning monies spent on energy bills
to Christian ministry. Idea Impact is helping us craft a ministry-
specific energy schedule using their scheduling software, and much
more! In fact, if we dont save, we dont spend a dime! To learn
more about energy stewardship, contact me at:
meghan@utcatholic.org.

Stay tuned for parish reports concerning the Centers financial
performance in the first half of FY2014. We are happy to report a
positive performance and an increasing commitment of our
community and donors to monthly giving. You make our ministry
thrive!

Diocese of Austin Pastoral Plan
The Diocese of Austin is beginning the process to develop a new
Pastoral Plan, an important document that guides the mission and
direction of the Diocese for the next five years and responds to
pastoral needs. To better understand those pastoral needs, the
planning team is hosting a series of listening sessions throughout the
Diocese. These sessions are open to everyone, and it is their hope
that you will take part in this important process. The following
listening sessions will be in English:

Feb. 5, 7 to 9 pm, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Austin
Feb. 6, 7 to 9 pm, Reicher Catholic High School, Waco

We encourage any interested UCC community members to attend
these upcoming sessions. If you decide to attend, please advise one
of our pastoral staff members so that we know that the UCC has
been represented at these gatherings!
Catholic 101 Sundays, 10:15 am
This group will meet every Sunday at 10:15am in the Our Lady of
Guadalupe Room at St. Austin. Drop-ins are welcome for this
beginner/refresher Adult Faith Formation series! For more info,
email Michael Flahive at mflahive@staustin.org.
Boy Scout troop Assistance needed
If you are a former scout and would like to assist the
new Troop at St. Austin Parish, please contact Ben
Johnson at bensemail@austin.rr.com. An
announcement requesting volunteers will also be
made after Masses Sunday, February 9th at the UCC.
