Increased Fire Safety

100% fire safety record High fire point (>300C) K-class classification Suitable for indoor and outdoor installation FM Global approved transformer fluid Established resistance to ignition Reduced protection costs Potentially lower insurance premiums

Greater Environmental Protection

Readily / fully biodegradable Non-water hazardous Non-toxic and not harmful to aquatic life Will not evaporate into the environment Not detrimental to degradation of activated sludge in biological treatment plants RoHS compliant

High Performance and Low Maintenance

Robust and stable at high temperatures over long periods Suitable for use in hybrid and aramid designs Allows for compact transformer design Superior oxygen stability Flexible used in breathing and sealed systems Excellent lubrication properties Self healing Lower no-load losses than cast resin transformers No corrosive sulphur No sludge formation

Superior Moisture Tolerance

Absorbs large amounts of moisture with no reduction of breakdown voltage (up to 600ppm) Allows moisture to migrate from cellulose into the fluid Potentially keeps the cellulose drier and slows the rate of ageing Very high saturation limit making precipitation of free water virtually impossible Reduces the risk of bubble formation

Originally developed in the 1970s, MIDEL 7131 is today used in thousands of new transformers to increase safety. Over the same period, MIDEL 7131 has gained an excellent reputation as a cost effective retrofill fluid for the replacement of flammable mineral oil. Retrofilling distribution transformers is a straightforward process because MIDEL 7131 is fully miscible with mineral oil and suitable for breathing systems. Users retrofill for a number of reasons including environmental protection, fire safety, and to bring wet transformers back into operation.Furthermore, insurance companies are recommending MIDEL 7131 retrofills to reduce risks to safety.
