. In the modern world with a rapid advancement in technology, computers and advanced communication systems play a predominant role. Man and material management seem to be driven into a state of oblivion. Industrial engineering is the backbone of all the engineering fields. Undergraduate study has exposed me to various machining techniques and industrial processes, which has created an insatiable desire to pursue my graduate study in the field of Industrial engineering. About me: I did my schooling in Ebene er Marcus Matriculation !igher "econdary "chool where I developed a good aptitude with a keen interest to learn new concepts. I cultivated an extensive liking to mathematics and science acquiring a good knowledge of the fundamentals of these sub#ects. $his was the solid base for me where I launched myself into a science stream. My under graduate course: %t this #uncture I was ready to do an undergraduate course in engineering. Dr.M.G.R Engineering o!!ege" Anna Uni#ersity" with good instructing medium and facilities was my choice. Mechanical engineering dealing with a variety of courses has an unlimited scope and application in any industry. $his was the reason for my decision to pursue a &achelor of engineering in Mechanical engineering. $his has enabled me to attain an in' depth and strong ground ship in the fundamental and technical concepts. In these four years I have been exposed to various concepts in manufacturing and industrial field. $his fascinated me and I was driven to explore the intricacies in this field. "o I wish to build on this mission and lead an organi ation that is efficient, self'reliant and adheres to the ob#ectives of industrial growth for public sector industries. My interest was furthered when after my second year of undergraduate course, as I Underwent in plant training at M(s "U)*%+%M &+%,E -I)I)." -$*., /$0" group1 one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of various types of brake linings, which has acquired 2*emming award.3 !ere I was able to study keenly the various aspects of a large manufacturing unit right from handling of the raw material to quality control of the finished product. I found myself specifically captivated by the effectiveness and importance of concepts such as 4rocess 5ptimi ation, "cheduling, Economic analysis, "equencing, etc., when applied to a real time scenario such as this. I exposed myself to various concepts like $4M, $6M and 78"8 concepts during my training. I have also presented a paper on $%EAN MANUFA TUR&NG' in )ational level $echnical "ymposium held at ,arunya Institute 5f $echnology, 9oimbatore.

I have gained confidence and experience in industries by doing mini pro#ect in $I *iamond chain -td. $he pro#ect title is (Ana!ysis o) Distortion and S*rin+age ,attern o) Meta!s and A!!oys a)ter *eat treatment.-- Extensive study on distortion and shrinkage pattern as carried out during the course through analysis in the heat treatment laboratory. $he results helped in obtaining the *esign Input 4arameters, which served as a valuable input data for future design and development of new chains and also reduces to a greater extent the rework on heavy pitch chain components. My educational and Industrial experience have allowed me to learn and apply various concepts that focuses on 4roduction planning, 6uality control and 5perations research. I did my final year pro#ect on (,roducti#ity im,ro#ement in com,ounding section( during my under graduation at M(s $0"'"undaram &rake -inings. $he main ob#ective of the pro#ect is to reduce the cleaning time and manual work content to improve the production in compounding section. $his is achieved by implementing $.ai/ens' to reduce the process time. $his pro#ect also involves the separation of man from machine to reduce the manual work content through low cost automation. My goa!: My immediate goal is to serve an industry as an industrial engineer, so that I can be well equipped with latest technologies. $hrough this experience I hope to understand the features of %merican industrial system, which is the best industrial system in the world. 5ver years I hope to gain enough expertise and exposure, so that I can reali e my long' term goal of serving as a consultant to public sector industries around India. 0*y N1&T2 I understand that this Uni#ersity offers exiting and unique opportunities for research and learning.
