Name Position Address December 11, 2012 Dear (News director), I am versalite, tenacious journalist with a passion for storytelling. I am very interested in the reporter position at (name of station). Working as a multimedia journalist at WHBF-TV has given me invaluable experience in all aspects of TV news, from the production, reporting, communication and the web. I would be an asset to your organization and I would love to be a part of your news team. One of the main strengths I possess as a reporter is producing creative, enterprise and exclusive stories. I am constantly looking for stories, asking questions, talking to people in the community and following up with contacts. An example of my persistance is when I covered a house fire in Sherrard, IL that killed 4 children and 1 woman, but the father of the family was able to escape. Not only did I cover the story that day, I went back to town to talk to people, on my days off I went to benefits for the victims. Eventually I met the father who escaped that fire, and thanks to the dedication and compassion I showed, he agreed to speak with me for an interview. The result was my station had the exclusive interview with that father, opening up about that night. If you are looking for a hard-worker with a positive attitude, then I am a strong candidate. I have worked 16 or 17 hour days following through with stories, Ive come in during planned vacation time to help when were short staffed, Ive filled in shooting sports, editing, producing, working every shift or whatever is needed of me. I know Ive only been in this business for a year, but I make up for it with my drive, work ethic and can-do attitude. Thank you for your consideration, my resume is included for your review. I welcome the opportunity to discuss my qualifications and look forward to speaking with you. Respectfully yours, Kylen Mills
