1.2 General Cautions


The following cautions are considered to be generic for all phone models and will not be repeated in the Disassembly, Replacements and Reassembly sections: SWITCH OFF THE PHONE AND REMOVE ANY MEMORY STICK BEFORE THE START OF THE DISASSEMBLY! KEEP ALL CONTACT SURFACES CLEAN! BE CAREFUL WHEN USING TOOLS LIKE THE DENTIST HOOK, TWEEZERS, OPENING TOOLS, GUITAR PICK ETC. TO AVOID SCRATCHES OR DAMAGES TO THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR PARTS OF THE PHONE! BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE ANY CONTACT SPRINGS! REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE PROTECTION FOILS ON NEW PARTS SUCH AS THE FRONT COVER AND LCD! NEVER TOUCH THE DISPLAY GLASS! USE AIR BLOW EQUIPMENT TO KEEP THE FRONT WINDOW AND DISPLAY MODULE DUST FREE!

1.3 Adhesives
Use a dentist hook and/or the tweezers to remove old adhesives. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol before attaching new adhesives.

2.1.1 Battery Cover Assembly & Battery

Insert and press the Front Opening Tool down to release the Battery Cover Assembly,

and remove the Battery Cover Assembly.

Insert and press the Front Opening Tool down to release the Battery,

and remove the Battery.

2.1.2 Screw Cover Coated

Slide the Sliding Lens Cover to its end position.

Use the Dentist Hook to remove one of the Screw Cover Coated,

and do the same on the opposite side. THE TWO SCREW COVER COATED MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

2.1.3 Co-Brand Label

Use the Dentist Hook to release and remove the Co-Brand Label. THE CO-BRAND LABEL MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

2.1.4 Antenna Cover Assembly

Use torx bit no. 6 to remove these two 1,6 x 6,1 screws. THE TWO 1,6 X 6,1 SCREWS MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the PH00 bit to remove this Flat Head Screw,

and the second one on the opposite side. THE TWO SCREWS MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Insert the Guitar Pick as shown in picture to unlatch the Antenna Cover Assembly at this side,

Antenna Cover Assembly continued

and do the same on the opposite side.

Use a Dentist Hook to release the Antenna Cover Assembly at both ends on this side,

and do the same on the opposite side.

Antenna Cover Assembly continued

Remove the Antenna Cover Assembly.

NOTE!!! The below information regarding the Antenna Cover Assembly is ONLY for units that are produced before 09w10.

Remove the current gasket and mesh using a scalpel or similar tool. Be careful not to damage the sealing surface on the Antenna Cover.

The protrusion in the plastic shows the placement area for the gasket.

Assemble the new gasket (1203-5255:2) and mesh on the Antenna Cover. Be careful not to cover the holes with the gasket.

Press the gasket hard for 3 seconds to make sure the adhesive is activated.

Assemble the grounding gasket (1210-8839:2) using a tweezers.

The gasket should be aligned against the screw boss and metal edge (red).

Assemble a grounding gasket also on the opposite side of the Antenna Cover by repeat the above assemble steps.

2.1.5 Speakerbox Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect the BtB connector.

Use the Front Opening Tool to release the Speakerbox Assembly on this side,

and on the opposite side.

Remove the Speakerbox Assembly.

PBA incl. Card Reader Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to release the PBA here.

Raise the PBA as far as it goes and disconnect the Keyboard FPC Assembly BtB connector using the Front Opening Tool.

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect the LCD FPC connector.

Turn the PBA upside/down and unlock the ZIF connector by opening the lock with the Front Opening Tool.

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to pull the FPC out of the ZIF connector.

Remove the PBA.

2.1.7 Card Reader Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect this BtB connector which is located on the PBA.

Use the Front Opening Tool to separate the Card Reader Assembly from the PBA.

Remove the Card Reader Assembly.

2.1.8Sliding Lens Cover

There are four Plastic Slider Snap as indicated by the arrows in the picture.

Use the Dentist Hook and push all four Plastic Slider Snap down to unsnap them.

Use the Dentist Hook to release them and to have them removed. THE FOUR PLASTIC SLIDER SNAP MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the Front Opening Tool to unsnap the Sliding Lens Cover on this side,

Use the Flex film Assembly Tool to separate the Dome Foil from the Keyboard FPC Assembly,

2.1.12 Keyboard FPC Assembly

Use an ESD Tweezer to separate the Gasket for Keyboard BtB from the Keyboard FPC Assembly. THE GASKET FOR KEYBOARD BTB MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the ESD Tweezers to remove the Foil Adhesive Double Side 0.0 mm Adhesive Keyboard Flex. THE FOIL ADHESIVE DOUBLE SIDE 0.0 MM ADHESIVE KEYBOARD FLEX MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the Front Opening Tool, or the ESD Tweezers, to unlock the ZIF connector.

Use a Front Opening Tool, or the ESD Tweezers, to release the Keyboard FPC Assembly from the Frame Assy.

Keyboard FPC Assembly continued

Pull the Keyboard FPC Assembly, in the direction of the arrow, to disconnect the ZIF connector.

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to release the Keyboard FPC Assembly.

Remove the Keyboard FPC Assembly. THE KEYBOARD FPC ASSEMBLY MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

3.16 Top Front Outer Panel Assy


REMOVAL
Slide the lens cover to its open position (1). Insert the Dentist Hook underneath the Top Front Outer Panel Assy (2) and then have the panel removed by using the tweezers or your fingers. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE SCRATCHES ON THE FRAME ASSY WITH THE DENTIST HOOK.

INSTALLATION
Position the new Top Front Outer Panel Assy so that it fits perfectly in the cavity of the Frame Assy and then press with your fingers to have it securely attached.

3.17 Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy


REMOVAL
Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Release the Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy from the Frame Assy at one of the top corners using your fingers or the Dentist Hook and then carefully pull to have the panel removed.

INSTALLATION
Position the new Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy so that it fits perfectly in the cavity of the Frame Assy and then press with your fingers to have it securely attached. Follow the 4.1.4 4.1.5 & 4.1.7 - 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.18 Ear Speaker


REMOVAL
Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Insert the Dentist Hook underneath the Ear Speaker to loosen it from the Frame Assy and remove the Ear Speaker using the tweezers.

INSTALLATION
Use the tweezers to position the new Ear Speaker in the Frame Assy and then press with the tweezers, without touching the contacts, to have it securely attached. Follow the 4.1.4 4.1.5 & 4.1.7 - 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.19 5MP Camera & Cushion


REMOVAL
Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Turn the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy upside/down and disconnect the BtB connector by using the Front Open Tool.

Insert the Front Open Tool between the two FPC parts,

and separate them.

Release the 5MP Camera by bending the metal holder.

5MP Camera & Cushion continued

THE 5MP CAMERA IS ATTACHED WITH GLUE! Insert the Front Opening Tool (1) underneath the 5MP Camera to raise it up (2).

Release and raise the FPC part (1) to make room for the removal of the 5MP Camera. Gently pull (2), using the Flex Film Assembly Tool, to have the 5MP Camera released and removed.

Optional Instruction In case the Cushion for the QCIF VGA Camera needs to be exchanged, that can be done at this stage: Remove the old Cushion. Insert a new Cushion as shown in picture.

5MP Camera continued Insert the new 5MP Cameras BtB connector underneath the FPC (1) and slide it gently until the connector appears as shown in picture (2). Gently press (3) the 5MP Camera to the bottom of the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy.

Bend the metal holder back to its original position to secure the position of the 5MP Camera.

Connect these BtB connectors,

3.20 Qcif VGA Camera & Camera Gasket

REMOVAL
Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Turn the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy upside/down.

Insert the Camera Tool into the Camera Socket (1) as far as it goes in order to release the Qcif VGA Camera from the Camera Socket. Remove the Camera Tool (2) and remove the Camera by lifting straight up (3) using your fingers or the tweezers.

INSTALLATION
Place the Camera into the Socket so that the Cameras guiding peg (1) coincides with the cavity (2) of the Socket. Press with your finger, without touching the lens, and make sure that the Camera has reached the bottom of the Socket.

INSTALLATION
Position the new Shield Can Lid BB 1over the Shield Can Fence and press gently with your fingers until it is properly attached on all sides.
