All praises are due to Allah, the Lord of the universe; and we send prayers and blessings to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him , his family, his companions, and all those who follow in his footsteps until the Last Day. I thank Allah for the opportunity to publish Hajj: Umrah: Ziyarah in English and Bengali. I pray that He accepts this little effort from me, and includes it among my good deeds done solely for His sake. The pilgrimage of Hajj and Umrah must be performed according to the way of Prophet Muhammad , for he said, Take from me your rites of Hajj. Therefore, it is incumbent on everyone who approaches the House of Allah for Hajj or Umrah to learn the way it was performed by the Prophet , through accurate guidebooks and through asking scholars about any uncertainties one may have. So I request, my dear brother and sisters, whoever intends to perform Hajj or Umrah, do not travel until you have learned how the Prophet has done so. InshaAllah, we pray that this book will enable the understanding of performing Hajj, Umrah and Ziyarah to be simple. This book is based on the Nobel Quran and our beloved Prophets sunnah. I would also like to express my appreciation to all the brothers and sisters, who have helped me publish and distribute Hajj: Umrah: Ziyarah. In particular, I must express my thanks to Abu Sufyan, Head Imam of Sunnah Mosque in Montreal, for his continued support and interest. I would also like to mention all the brothers and sisters who have helped me since 2008 to organize the Hajj: Umrah: Ziyarah training program in different mosques over North America. I ask Allah to accept their efforts and to grant them Paradise in the Hereafter. Finally, if you find any error in this book, please do inform us so we will be able to make the corrections in future editions. May Allah accept your Hajj & Umrah (Ameen). Verily, the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah), full of blessing, and a guidance for Al-Alamin (mankind and jinn). In it are mankind manifest signs, (for example) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim; whosoever enters it, he attains security. (Al-Imran 3:96-97) This is Baitullah: the House of Allah. Its sanctity and antiquity is older than history itself. History goes to say that the Kaba was ordained by Allah to be built in the shape of a House in Heaven, called Baitul Maamoor. Allah, in His infinite Mercy, ordained a similar place on earth, and Prophet Adam was the first to build this place. Scholars and historians have said that the Kaba has been reconstructed between five and 12 times. Prophet Adam did the very first construction. Allah (SWT: Glory be to Him) says in the Quran that this is the first house that was built for humanity to worship Allah. After this, Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail rebuilt the Kaba.
The measurements of the Kabas Ibrahimic foundation are as follows: The eastern wall was 48 feet and 6 inches, the Hateem sidewall was 33 feet, the side between the black stone and the Yemeni corner was 30 feet, and the Western side was 46.5 feet Following this, there were several constructions before Prophet Muhammads(PBH) time.
Page 2
Prophet Muhammad (PBH) participated in one of its reconstructions before he even became a Prophet. After an immense flood, the Kaba was severely damaged and its walls were cracked. It needed immediate rebuilding. This responsibility was divided among the Qureishs four tribes. Prophet Muhammad aided in this reconstruction. Once the walls were erected, it became time to place the Black Stone, (Hajar ul Aswad) on the eastern wall of the Kaba. The current height of the Kaba is 39 feet, 6 inches, and its total size equates to 627 square feet. The room inside of the Kaba measures 13 x 9 meters. Its walls are a single meter wide. The floor inside measures 2.2 meters higher than the space where Tawaf is performed. The ceiling and roof are two levels made out of wood. They were reconstructed with teak, which was capped with stainless steel. The walls are all made of stone; the stones inside are unpolished, while the ones outside are polished
Hajj
Hajj (Arabic: Ha pilgrimage) is an inward spiritual journey that is ritualized through a physical journey to the sacred city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Constituting the fifth pillar of Islam, it is by far the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. It is prescribed upon Muslims as a ritual obligation that is to be competed once in a lifetime, provided that they are able-bodied and have the financial means to afford the trip. Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslims, from every step of life, as they answer the ancient call of the Prophet Ibrahim, flocking in the millions, in total servitude to Allah. Arabic.. And (remember) when we showed Ibrahim the site of the (Sacred) House (the Kaba at Makkah) (saying): Associate not anything (in worship) with me, [La ilaha illajjah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)], and sanctify My House for those who circumambulate it, and those who stand up (for prayer), and those who bow (submit themselves with humility and obedience to Allah), and perform prostration (in prayer); [2:26] Arabic And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj). [2:27]
Page 3
Allahs third commandment to Prophet Ibrahim (A.W.S) proclaimed Hajj to mankind. ...... Announce the pilgrimage to mankind and call them to perform pilgrimage to this House which we have commanded you to build. It was said that Ibrahim (A.W.S) responded: O Lord, how can I convey this to people when my voice will not reach them. Allah then said: Call them and I will send this message to all over. So Ibrahim (A.W.S.) stood up on Maqame Ibrahim and Allah heightened it. Then Ibrahim (A.W.S.) said, O mankind! Your Lord has established a House, so come on pilgrimage to it. It also said that the mountains lowered themselves so that his voice would reach all the regions of the earth, and those who were still in their mothers wombs and their fathers loins would hear the call. The response came from everyone in the cities, deserts, and countryside. Those whom Allah has decreed will make the pilgrimage, until the Day of Resurrection. Hajj and Umrah are duties to be performed once in lifetime: The Prophet said: The performance of Hajj once (in life) is a duty and if one does it more than once it is a voluntary act.
Page 4
Narrated Abu Huraira (Radiya Allahu`anha): The Prophet(PBH) said: Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah only and does not commit any act lewdness and obscenity and does not do evil or sins, he will return from his Hajj (innocent) as on the day he was born. [Mukhtasar Sahih al-Bukahri, hadith773] Narrated Ibn Umar (Radiya Allahu`anha): He was asked about the Umrah before Hajj. (Ibn Umar) replied, There is no harm in it. (Ikrima said) Ibn Umar also said, The Prophet (PBH) had performed Umrah before performing Hajj.[Bukhari] Both Hajj and Umrah are duties to be performed once in life, as it is indicated by the hadith, The Prophet (PBH) said The performance of Hajj once (in life) is a duty and if one does it more than once, it is a voluntary act. Aisha (R.A.A.) reported that Allahs Messenger Prophet (PBH) said: There is no day when Allah sets free more servants from Hell Fire than the Day of Arafah. He draws near, and then praises them to the angels, saying: What do they seek? [Muslim] Narrated Ibn Abbas (Radiya Allahu`anha): A menstruating woman was allowed to leave Makkah if she had done Tawaf-al-Ifada. Ibn Umar (Radiya Allahu`anha) said that she should not depart. Then later he said that the Prophet (PBH) had allowed them (menstruating women) to depart. [Bukhari]

Write/update ones will, regarding property or any asset. Choose the company of the righteous. Learn as much as possible about Hajj and Umrah. Learn the rulings of Salat as-Safar (travelers prayer). Learn how to pray Salat al-Janaazah
Note: Al-Masjid-al-Haram (Makkah) and Masjid Al Nabawi (Madina) perform Salat al-Janaazah after all most every prayer.
TAMATTU: During the Hajj session, a pilgrim enters into the state of Ihram twice. He or she first enters
QIRAAN: In this type of Hajj, a pilgrim enters the state of Ihram just once, and performs Umrah and Hajj while in that state. The pilgrim will say Allahumma Labbayk Umrah and Hajj. The pilgrim will perform tawaf al-qudum and sye, which serves as the sye for both Umrah and Hajj. After sye, the pilgrims do not cut their hair and remain in the state of Ihram until the 8th of Dul-Hajj, when the Hajj rites begin. Then he/she must complete all the duties of Hajj except the sye, after Tawaf al-Ifadah. IFRAD: The pilgrim enters the stare of Ihram with the intention of performing only Hajj Allahumma
Labbaik Hajj. The pilgrim will perform tawaf al-qudum and sy,e for Hajj, remaining in Ihram, until he/she completed the rites of Hajj at Mina, Arafa, Muzdalifa and Mina. Ifrad Hajj is for the residents of Makkah only and does not include performing Umrah, nor is it required to sacrifice an animal. Note: Tamattu and Qiran Hajj require sacrifice (Hady) a sheep or a goat or share in a camel or cow as one of seven (1/7). If he or she cannot do so, then pilgrim must fast three days during Hajj and seven days when he/she returns home.
Ihram
Ihram is the first of the rites of Hajj and Umrah. For men, only two pieces of plain white, unsown cloths are worn; one for the upper portion of the body and another for the lower portion. No sewn clothes are permitted such as a t-shirts, turbans, trousers, underwear, socks or shoes. Wearing white cloths is Sunnah. For women, ordinary Muslim dresses are required, they must make sure their faces are not covered (Niqaab) or touched by any covering, or wear gloves. [Bukhari] Preparation for Ihram: For men: trim the moustache. Clip nails, remove underarm hair, and pubic hair. Take a shower for Ihram; it is a Sunnah for men and women. Perfume (without alcohol) The Prophet used to undress in order to take a bath and apply perfume. It is also recorded in the Hadith collection of Bukhari and Muslim, on the authority of Aisha (R.A.A.) that she used to put perfume on the Prophet before he wore his garments of Ihram.
Page 6
One must wear the garments of Ihram and make the intention in their heart for performing Hajj or Umrah. While this is done, ones face should be towards the Kaba. (Bukhari and Muslim). If one is performing Hajj or Umrah on behalf of someone else, he/she should make that intention at the time of Ihram and should say, Labbayk for so and so Pray two rakahs Salatul Sunnah. After Salah, begin recitation of Talbiyah, for men Talbiyah should be recited a loud voice and woman should make Talbiyah in a low voice. Talbiyah will continue until enter Al-Masjid-al-Haram. During Hajj, pilgrims from the moment of Ihram begin recitation of Talbiyah until the stoning the Jamara al-Aqabah on the 10th of Dhul hijjah. TALBIYAH
Labbaik- Allahummalabbaik. Labbaika laa shareeka laka labbaik. Innal-hamda wan- nimata laka walmulk. Laa shareeka lak. I am here [answering your call] O Allah, I am here. I am here, You have no partner, I am here. Verily, all praise, grace and dominion are Yours, and You have no partner. To recite Talbiyah is Wajib [Minhaz Muslim by Abubokar Al Jazaeri]

You should not marry, seek proposals for yourself or propose to others, as well as marital intercourse and anything that stimulates desires. The Prophet said, One in Ihram must not marry, be wedded or propose (Muslim) All matters leading to conjugal intimacy, such as kissing, touching, or talking with ones wife/husband about intercourse, or related matters are prohibited during the state of Ihram.
Note: It is permissible to change ones clothes and to wash them, as well as to wash ones hair and body,
and there is no harm if some hair inadvertently falls off during the washing. It is also permissible to wear sandals, watches, hearing aids, a speech aid, glasses or contact lenses, belt or girdle that protects ones money or documents.

Ar-Ramal: To walk at a brisk pace, the first three circumambulation around the Kaba. Hadith: Narrated Abdullah bin Umar R.A., The Prophet did Ramal during the first three rounds (of Tawaf ), and walked in the remaining four, in both Hajj and Umrah (Bukhari).
Rabbana aatina fiddunya hasanath wa fil aakhirati hasanah wa qina adhaban naar (Quran-2:201).
O Allah! Grant us the good in this world and in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Al-Bukhari)
Page 11
Note: Ar-Ramol not for Nafel Tawaf. Kissing the Black Stone is a Sunnah, while hurting a pilgrim in the process is a great sin. Touching, kissing and wiping the hands over all corners of the Kaba or its walls, door, covering cloth, or Maqam Ibrahim is not lawful, as it is from the innovations in religion (bidah), which was not done by the Prophet . A menstruating woman does not make Tawaf until her menses is complete. When it is time for the obligatory Salat, you must stop your Tawaf, join the Salat in your place and then resume your Tawaf from where you left. If this results in you forgetting whether you stopped at, then say the 3rd or 4th circuits, then start from 3rd. If you need to go to the washroom you may interrupt your Tawaf and make wudhu before returning to resume your Tawaf. You resume your Tawaf from where you left. However, some scholars say that you need to start over from the beginning.
Note: Zamzam water drinks in a standing position & face towards the Kaba (Al- Bukhari)

The devotional act of walking seven times between Safa and Marwah. This act retraces the footsteps of Hajar, wife of Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh), during her desperate search for water for her infant son Ismail (pbuh) after they were left in the desert by Prophet Ibrahim in response to a Divine vision. As-Safa: Say begins from As-Safa. Describing the way the Prophet used to perform pilgrimage, Jaabir (R.A.) said that when the Messenger approached mount As-Safa, he recited:
Inna-s safaa wal marwata min shaaairi-l llaahi faman hajja-l baita aw i`tamara falaa junaaha alaihi an yattawwafa bihimaa wa man tatawwaa khairan fa inna-l llaaha shaakirun aleem.
As-Safa and A-l Marwah (two mountains) are of the Symbols of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or Umrah (pilgrimage) of the Kaba to perform the going (Tawaf ) between them (As-Safa and Al- Marwah). And whoever does well voluntarily, and then verily, Allah is the All-Recognizer, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah and Muslim) Then he stands on As-Safa facing the Kaba and says: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (Allah is great, Allah is great, Allah is great). Then He would say the following three times making a supplication after each time:
La ilaha ill-Allahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, Lahul mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer. La ilaha ill-Allahu wahduhu, anjaza wa dahu wa nasara abdahu wa hazamal-ahzaba wahdah.
Page 13
There is no true God but Allah. His One, having no partner. And to Him belong the kingdom and all praises. There is no true God but Allah. He fulfilled His promise and supported his servant and defeated the [enemy] allies alone. (Timidhee and Abu Daawud 3/124). Supplicating in between with anything he wishes, and if he does less than that, there is no fault. He raises his hands only when supplicating, and does not point with them when saying, Allahu Akbar
Then you descend from the Safa and begin walking in the direction of Marwa. You may supplicate with any duaa that comes to mind for yourself, your family, and the Muslims in general. You walk until you reach the green sign post (see diagram). When reaching that post, men only should jog until come to the second green marker, and then proceed to walk up to the Marwa. This completes one lap.
Al- Marwah:
Upon reaching al-Marwah, face the Kaba and supplicate as you did at as-Safa, with any supplication. The same is to be done from Marwa until one reaches Safa. It completes two laps. Continues until finish seven laps, ending at al-Marwah.
Page 14
Note:
There is no harm upon him/her for completing the say on a wheelchair if a pilgrim is illness or week. If a woman begins menstruation after completing Tawaf, she can complete her say because the area of say is not a part of al-Masjid al-Haram.
Note: One should strive to pray as many voluntary prayers as possible during permissible times. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said, One prayer in Al-Masjid-al-Haram is equivalent to 100,000 prayers in any other mosque in the world. (Bukhari and Muslim)
Note: One of the best Ibadat while in Makkah, after completing the Umrah, is Tawaf. One can do as many Tawaf as one wishes. It is better to avoid performing multiple Umrahs before Hajj, as this may result in excessive fatigue and possibly illness.
Ihram: Entering the state of Ihram with an intention to perform Hajj Stay at Arafah: Tawaf Al Ifada. Spend the night at Muzdalafia. Throwing stones (Ramy al-Jamarah). Sacrifice an animal Halq: Shaving a mans head, trimming a womans hair. Sye: Pacing between Safa & Marwah seven times, equivalent to 3 rounds. Sleeping in Mina. Tawaf al wada or Farewell Tawaf.
The rites of Hajj begin on this day, which is called the day of Tarwiyah. Ihram rules of Hajj Tamattu: will be the same as Umrah. The only exception is Ihram from Makkah at your hotel. Niyyah for Tamattu Hajj:Labbayka Allahumma Hajjaa O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj. Make it easy for me and accept it from me. Then make the niyyah for Hajj and enter into the state of Ihram for the sake of Allah alone, the Most High. Pray two Rakah Salah and continue Talbiyah.
Those of Qiran are already in Ihram. Continue the Talbiyah until you throw the pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqabah, on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah. The pilgrim must go to Mina on 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, anytime after Fajr prayer but before Zuhr. (Mina is a desert location approximately three miles from Makkah where several Hajj rites are performed). You will pray Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr in their times with qasr (shortening Dhur, Asr and Isha to 2 Rakah). Spending this night in Mina is a Sunnah. For some scholars its a Wajib.
The Prophets practice should be followed. After the sermon, the pilgrim should pray Dhuhr and Asr together, in accordance with the Prophets practice, and Qasar (shortened) 2 rakahs of each prayers, instead of 4 rakahs, with a single Adhan and two Iqamahs (Muslim). No other prayer is performed before or afterwards.
The best of supplications is the supplication on the day of Arafah and the best (supplication)that I and the Messengers preceding me have said: Arabicpage 247 Kitabul Hind English La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, yuhee wa yumeetu, wa Hawa ala kulli shaiin Qadeer. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah. He is Alone, having no partner. To Him belong the kingdom and all praise. He causes life and death and He has power over everything.
The pilgrim stays in Arafah until sunset. It is recommended to spend the entire time reading the Quran, reciting the Talbiyah, offering supplications, and repenting to Allah: O Allah! Forgive my sins, help me repent to you, and grant me all that I beseech of you. Whenever I turn, let me see goodness. Allah be praised! All Praise is due to Allah! There is no deity except Allah! And Allah is The Most Great. Make Duaa for all your Muslim brothers and sisters and ask to Allah guide all of humanity. The Prophet said: There is no day on which Allah frees more of His servants from Fire than the Day of Arafah. He draws near and then praises them before the angles, saying: What do they seek? In the late afternoon, just before sunset, the pilgrim may stand outside the tent facing the Qiblah, and raise his/her hands in supplication to Allah. There are no prescribed prayers for Wuquf (standing) Arafah. During these sacred moments, the pilgrim is alone with Allah, praying to have his/her sins and lifelong shortcomings forgiven. Communication with Allah in any language is acceptable. No Nafl or any other prayers are performed, either before or after the obligatory prayers. When the sun has set, you leave Arafah for Muzdalifah.
Page 17
Make sure do not cover your head while you sleep in state of Ihram
After Fajr prayer, it is desirable for pilgrims in Muzdalifa to face the Qiblah, praise Allah, and supplicate as much as possible. Pilgrims should move towards Mina before sunrise, when the sky has become bright. When they come to the river valley of MuHassir (between Mina and Muzdalifah) they should try to cross as fast as is possible for them.
Page 18
Note: Due to the large crowd going to Mina, the pilgrim must remain calm, avoid pushing people, and
Tawaf al Ifadah
Tawaf al Ifadah is amongst the pillars of Hajj without which Hajj is incomplete. After stoning the large pillar on Eid morning, the pilgrim must go to Makkah (10th of Dul-Hijjah) to make Tawaf al-Ifadah (seven circuts of tawaf, in the same way as the Tawaf of arrival, except that there is no Idtiba (uncovering right shoulder)) Pray two Rakah behind Maqaam Ibrahim. If it is not possible, pray anywhere in the Masjid-al-Haram. You may drink Zamzam water after praying, while standing and facing the Kaba Then perform Say between the Safa and Marwa, as before you did, if your Hajj is Tamattu or if you did not perform Say after tawaf al-qudum in Qiran or Ifrad.
Once you have completed tawaf al ifadah, you are freed from any restrictions of the Ihram, including marital intercourse.
Page 19
Sleeping in Mina
Return to Mina to spend the night that proceeds the three days of tashreeq. Hadith: Narrated Ibn Umar RAA Al-Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib RAA asked the permission of Allahs Messenger to let him stay in Makkah during the night of Mina, in order to provide the pilgrims with water to drink, so the Prophet permitted him. [Bukhari] Arabic And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days-there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there in no sin upon him for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be returned. 2:203 Confirmation require
Stone the three Jamarat each with seven pebbles in each of those days (7x3=21) Takbir (Allahu Akbar) with each stone. After the first and the second Jamarat, move forward to the side and stand facing the Qiblah. Make duaa in this direction while raising your hands. After the stoning of the third or large pillar (Jamratulaqabah), you should stop and supplicate. There is no harm in leaving Mina before sunset on 12th of Dhul-Hijjah, after you perform the Ramy.
(The three Jamarat each with seven pebbles (7x3=21) Takbir Allahu Akbar with each stone.) Then you should leave Mina before sunset.
Note: If you stay at Mina on 12th of Dhul-Hijjah night, you have to do the same on 13th of Dhul-Hijjiah
(no say required). One can do as many Tawaf as one wishes. The Prophet used to carry zamzam water with him in water skins and containers, and he used to pour it upon the sick, and give it to them to drink.
Note: After returning from Minah, one of the best Ibadat while in Makkah, after completing Hajj, is Tawaf
When you enter the Prophets Mosque, you should put right foot first in the mosque (which is basically for all mosques) and recite the following supplication: Bismillahi wassalaatu wassalaamu ala Rasoolillahi, audhu billahil Azeemi wa biwajhi hil Kareemi, wa Sultaanihil qadeemi, minash-ahaitanir rajeemi, Allahummaftah li abwaaba rahmatika. By the name of Allah and peace and blessings be upon Allahs Messenger. I seek refuge with Allah, the All-Great and with His Noble Face and His most ancient rule and authority, against the accursed Satan. O Allah! Open for me the gates of Your Mercy. Then, pray two Rakahs of salutation to the mosque after entering and ask Allah for blessings with the best things in this world and the Hereafter. If you can pray these two Rakahs of prayer within Rawdhat-ul-Jannah (Garden of Paradise) it would be much better. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said: One of the gardens of Jannah lies between my home and my pulpit. After the two Rakahs have been prayed, go to the Prophet (S.A.W.) and stand facing Him, say with all respect, As-Salam-u-alaika, yaha Rasul-Allah ha, Wah Rahmattullahi wa barakaathuh. As-Salam-u-alaika O Messenger of Allah. May Allahs Mercy and Blessing be upon you. It is recorded in the Hadith collection of Abu Dawud on the authority of Abu Hurairah(R.A.A) that the prophet (S.A.W.) said: when someone offers to me Salam, Allah restores my soul to my body until I answer his salaam. The visitors can also say in his greeting, Arabic Ziyaarah page 5..
Page 21
O Prophet of Allah! May peace be upon you, best of Allahs creation! May peace be upon you, Chief of Messengers and Leader of the Pious! May peace be upon you! I bear witness that you have delivered the Message and discharged the Duty, and advised the Ummah and striven in the way of Allah to the fullest extent. Then move a little to the right to stand the grave of Abu Bakar (R.A.), may Allah be pleased with him. Greet him and ask Allah to bestow His Mercy, Forgiveness and Pleasure on him. Again move a little to the right to stand before the grave of Umar (R.A.), may Allah be pleased with him, and greet him and ask Allah to bestow His Mercy, Forgiveness and Pleasure on him.
