Message from the Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was established in 1990, as per Act 31, 1990 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as a Teaching-cumAffiliated university. The University has been named after Prof. P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the Tamil poet literate and renowned late 19th century writer, who authored the famous verses of the drama MANONMANIAM. The University caters to the needs of three southern districts in Tamil Nadu viz. Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari. Dr. M. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, formally inaugurated the University on 7th September, 1990. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). About eighty thousand students study in the various university departments and its eighty affiliated colleges, which include one constituent and government college. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is among the pioneering institutions that offer the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS). The courses and research programs offered by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University have been carefully chosen after considering the contemporary needs of the region.

Admission Procedures

Eligibility Criteria:
For the Diploma programs, candidates who have passed the 10+2 exam in any stream, 10+3 passed or undergraduates from any degree course are eligible for enrollment. On submission of their application forms, they will obtain provisional admission. For their admission to be regularized, such candidates are required to produce their passing certificates within 3 months of the enrollment dates.

List of Enclosures to be submitted along with the Application Form:

1. Demand Draft of Rs. 500 drawn in favor of Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, payable at TIRUNELVELI. Alternatively, payment of Rs. 500 in cash can be made at any On Site Academic Campus of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, as the application and prospectus fee will also be included along with the form. 2. Attested (by a Gazetted Officer or a person holding an equivalent rank or the Principal/Head of an Institution) photocopies of the original mark-sheet of Intermediate/Higher Secondary Education/(10+2)/10+3 Diploma.

Candidates should submit completed application forms along with the copies of other relevant certificates to their Arena center. The respective Arena center will then verify the forms and send them to the following address:

How to Apply:
Application to the courses offered by the University should be made in the prescribed application form. Instructions must be carefully read and strictly followed. Candidates should furnish ATTESTED (by a gazetted officer or a person holding equivalent rank) photocopies of their original mark-sheet. A demand draft of Rs. 500/- must be drawn from any Nationalised / Scheduled Banks in favor of Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, payable at TIRUNELVELI. Alternatively, payment of Rs. 500/- in cash can be made at any On Site Academic Campus of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, as the application and prospectus fee will also be included along with the form. An incomplete application form and failure to append the stipulated documents may result in rejection of admission. Any document sent separately or after submission of the application will not be considered. Candidates must carry the relevant Original Certificates and the prescribed fees with them. The application forms will then undergo a final verification after which they will be forwarded to the University for Confirmation of admission.
