Source A- Speech by Harry Truman on the Korean War, 1950

The Communists in the Kremlin are engaged in a monstrous conspiracy to stamp out freedom all over
the world. If they were to succeed, the United States would be numbered among their principal victims.
It must be clear to everyone that the United States cannot and will not sit idly by and await foreign
conquest. The only question is: When is the best time to meet the threat and how?

Source B-Quoted by Kim II Sung

It is wrong to try to avoid the struggle against imperialism under the pretext that independence and
revolution are important, but that peace is still more precious.

Source C-An illustration of the domino theory as it had been predicted in Asia

Source D- Speech by Dwight D. Eisenhower on his Domino Theory

Finally, you have broader considerations that might follow what you would call the "falling domino"
principle. You have a row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first one, and what will happen to the
last one is the certainty that it will go over very quickly. So you could have a beginning of a disintegration
that would have the most profound influences.

Source E- From a Chinese Newspaper, October 1950

We cannot stand fully by when the American imperialist, a notorious enemy, is now expanding its war of
aggression against our neighbor and is attempting to spread the flames of war to the borders of our
country.

Source F- Said by Douglas MacArthur, 1952 farewell address to Congress

We could hold in Korea by constant maneuver and in an approximate area where our supply line
advantages were in balance with the supply line disadvantages of the enemy, but we could hope at best
for only an indecisive campaign with its terrible and constant attrition upon our forces if the enemy
utilized its full military potential….But once war is forced upon us, there is no other alternative than to
apply every available means to bring it to a swift end.
