Information and Brainstorming session


Date: Saturday 9nd June, 2012 Time: 10am - 2pm Location: Innovation Space, COSTECH, Sayansi-building, Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam.

Background
We want bring together journalists, new media practitioners and developers together to learn about the ANIC challenge and brainstorm for ideas on how to use technology and media together.

Schedule of the day

10:00 - 12:00 Short presentations from a variety of media practitioners in Tanzania, for example Sukhdev Chatbar, EAC Media Consultant Tanzania Media Fund will present their new grant promoting the use of new media, and which targets journalists integrating digital tools and strategies in their work. Peter Bon, blogger at Swahili Street, www.swahilistreet.wordpress.com Pernille Baerendtsen, Communicator & Photographer, blogger at Dunia Duara, www.duniaduara.dk, Eric Kabendera, Freelance investigative journalist and other Tanzanian journalists. 12:00 - 12:30 Lunch 12.30 - 14:00 Guided brainstorming session Facilitated by KINU and TANZICT

The objectives of the event


To generate strong applications from Tanzania not just because of the prize, but because Tanzanian journalism needs a boost in regards of digital tools and new media. To inspire and enhance concrete knowledge and tools for how to produce digital ideas improving the way news is collected and disseminated. To facilitate the concept that good ideas improve if shared, and that data driven journalism needs cooperation across traditional lines of work areas. To enhance Tanzanian media quality in the long term.
