By Thomas J. Greenbaum As the IBM Company strives to create industrial business machines for success in the outer world, the Inner Peace Machine (IPM) Company creates machines for success within humans' inner realm. Success in the outer realm is not guaranteed nor does it necessarily result in peace. The IPM company believes that success within the human heart is ultimately guaranteed by a higher power and that inner peace is synonymous with that success. The creation of inner peace machines involves the harmonious integration of technologies developed using both physical scientific (rational) and metaphysical spiritual (intuitive) knowledge. The inner peace machine is a handmade artifact incorporating a variety of components including microprocessors, LED lighting, servos, sensors, and motors, as well as hand fused glass, natural crystals, stone, woodworking, metalworking and textiles. An inner peace machine is handmade with artistic skill, love and mindfulness. In today's modern world, technology has come to mean just about anything under the Sun. Prior to the 20th century the word technology was very seldom heard used at all. The early meaning of technology referred to a person's art, skill and craftsmanship. Later, during the onset of the industrial revolution, technology also referred to a person's skill in an industrial factory setting. Eventually the use of the word technology has extended to artifacts resulting from scientific and industrial processes even if humans are not directly involved in their creation. The origin of the word technology comes from 'texure' meaning web and texture. The root of 'texure' is 'tex' meaning weave. For millennium humans have observed the texture of the universe and have skillfully woven artifacts employing inspiration from their intuitive awareness of how the universe is structured. The importance of these patterns and textures was well understood and recorded in diagrams which are generally referred to as sacred geometry. Mystics, geometers and philosophers of the past have diagramed sacred geometric constructs such as mandala, the Golden Spiral, the Tree of Life, Metatrons Cube, yantra, the Celtic Cross and labyrinths that represent the cosmos metaphysically. Other esoteric diagrams such as diagrams of the chakras, nadis and meridians represent microcosmic energy patterns that exist within humans. Modern science has also documented a great many geometric patterns using instrumentation to observe energy events and other phenomenon. The patterns recorded by science, although rationally developed using mathematical algorithms and computer technology often share

common geometric structures with those discovered by mystics employing intuitive skills and inner vision. This is not a coincidence. Rational and intuitive knowledge, self-awareness and awareness of other are linked through universal consciousness. Science tells us that only a very small fraction of catalogued phenomenon and energies are directly observable by the human senses. We cannot directly see subatomic particles. We cannot directly hear the radio frequencies of cell phone carrier ways. We cannot touch the information traveling through the world-wide-web. We cannot feel the gravitational pull of supermassive black holes at the center of our galaxy. We are informed about such phenomenon through the use of instrumentation which magnifies and extends our five senses. It is our faith in science and the instruments of science that leads us to believe these phenomenon and energies exist in reality. We are amazed, entertained, comforted and sometimes healed by the scientific creations that are capable of manipulating these unseen energies. However, up until now, our journey for inner peace does not appear to be significantly aided by these devices. While our faith in the unseen outer energies of science is growing, our faith in the unseen inner energies of the spiritual disciplines is waning. Yet it is the inner energies and inner disciplines which offer the greatest benefit in regard to our journey towards inner peace. It is time to revitalize the old meaning of technology. We need to apply our skills with crystals, wood, metal, stone and fabric combined with our understanding of modern scientific devices and methods to develop a new class of handcrafted artifacts called inner peace machines. These new inner peace machines will benefit humans development of inner peace in a way that uses the best known methods of intuitive and scientific knowledge. The inner peace machine will serve as an autonomous Shaman to heal our metaphysical ailments, remove obstacles to our spiritual development and ultimately advance our mind-body-spirit towards enlightenment.
