CIEBS - A Brief Introduction
The Centre for Indo-European Business Studies (CIEBS) is a collaboration between ESB Business School, Reutlingen, Germany and S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai, India with the aim of enhancing understanding and cooperation between India and Europe. It was established on 19th November 2009 and is co-funded by the European Commission. CIEBS is the irst Centre for Indo-European Business in India. It also is the irst center of its kind initially funded by the European Union. It is member of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.

The MBA (IM) Program

The program is a brainchild of CIEBS. It consists of 8 months at SPJIMR, Mumbai and 6 months at ESB Business School, Germany. At the end of the 14-month program the participants are awarded a MBA in International Management from ESB Business School.

A German Delegation comprising of Mr. Gnther H. Oettinger, former Minister President of the State of Baden-Wrttemberg and present EU Energy Commissioner; Mr. Hans Schoof, Head of Operations, EC Delegation in India; Scientiic Delegation; Dignitaries and Members of Parliament from Germany visited SPJIMR in the year 2009 to inaugurate the CIEBS, and in recognition of the collaboration between SPJIMR and ESB Business School.

The two semesters at SPJIMR are taught by SPJIMR and ESB Business School faculty members and various other renowned international professors. On successful completion of these two terms, students are awarded a Post Graduate Certiicate in International Management (PGCIM) from SPJIMR. The pedagogy followed at SPJIMR ensures that the knowledge gained is translated into practice by means of extensive simulations and ield work sessions. ESB Business School, Reutlingen, one of the top international Business Schools in Germany, accepts the credits acquired from PGCIM for direct admission to the second year of their MBA Program. The semester at Reutlingen is composed of classroom training based on electives chosen by participants and a Masters Thesis as a part of the academic curriculum.

MBA in International Managment

Masters Thesis

Participants are required to undergo a Master's Thesis, which is part of the academic curriculum in the inal term at ESB Business School. Doing a Master's Thesis allows participants to gain greater knowledge in their chosen ields of expertise in a real business context. Challenging business issues such as country entry strategies, product launch and research, pressing organizational management issues and competitor analysis are the type of projects undertaken by participants. The topics identiied by organizations (primarily companies with Indo-EU operations) are addressed in the Master's Thesis by means of extensive academic research. Some of the challenging projects undertaken by the participants

include country entry strategies, competitor analysis, product research and launch and organizational management issues. During this period, participants are also responsible for understanding the organization and its culture to develop interesting insights into the problem. A participant is allocated two mentors, one from the organization from where the thesis is being pursued and another, a professor with relevant expertise from ESB Business School.

Responsible for procurement of raw materials and disbursement of nished products to the WDs by various modes of logistics such as by road, rakes and sea movement. Responsible for production planning and inventory requirements of production facilities with a capacity of 500 MT/day, ISO22000 & HACCP certied. Responsible for ensuring that all statutory requirements like PFA, SWMA and BIS are followed with the nished product and maintaining product scores above 90 in PQRS.
