Meet St. Cloud Regional's new CEO
St. Cloud Regional Medical Center announces the appointment of Kim Bassett as its chief executive officer. Kim brings more than 22 years of practical and hospital-based administration and nursing experience. She joined Health Management Associates in 1990 and was named chief nursing officer at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West in 1995. She then served as CEO at Fishermens Hospital in Marathon, Fla., for more than five years before coming to St. Cloud in 2011. She served as the administrator over both Fishermens and St. Cloud Kim Bassett. Regional for more than six months, and is now able to be fully committed to St. Cloud. Kim is a great leader and we are very fortunate to have her on our team, said Gary Newsome, Health Management President & CEO. Bassett was one of five leaders who received the coveted title CEO of the Year in 2010 by Health Management Associates. She completed her Masters in Business with a specialization in Health Administration from the University of Miami in 2003. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri in 1991. She has been an RN for 23 years and is a Florida licensed Healthcare Risk Manager. "Kim is a great leader and I am happy to have her guiding the team at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center," said Mike Fencel, President, North Florida Division, Health Management Associates. "I am confident that Kim has the vision, energy and desire to help advance St. Cloud Regional Medical Center to achieve all of its quality, satisfaction and strategic goals."
