A management professor once said that for successful management studying the present was most important, studying the past was next, and studying the past and studying the future was least important.

We believe that this statement is true and therefore w e agree with it. In fact the reason why studying the present is the most important for management is that the present is something under our observation and therefore we are more likely to know about it than our past and our future. Moreover, the present provides us with the present problems relevant to management . These present problems give the possibility for planning for the future. However, good planning requires an experience from the past . The past informs us of the challenges and the problems that we have encountered . It provides us with the solutions which we had for these challenges and problems. These things describe our past experience in management. It constitutes the knowledge we need for designing good plans in the present and for the future. From this

simple argument we can understand the importance of knowing the history of management. This field of knowledge is important to design successful organization .

Management becomes more technology -driven. Which will be more important: manageme nt of technology or management of humans?

There is a reason why the future of management is technology -driven: the employment of technology decreases incidents in technological industries.

There are some views that take the management of technology to be more important than the management of humans. The argument that supports this view goes as follows regardless of the fact that organizations are becoming more technology-driven, management of human beings will always be more important. This is because, in the end, all of the technology only has value when used by humans to create a product. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to manage in such a way as to keep the humans happy and productive.

But we think that there is no standard at present for answering this question. For example in some business situations, management of human is more important, because the nature of the business requires humans not technology. For example, in a journal or a TV station, the organization under question in

this case or other cases might is based on human labor. So the management of human here is more important . Another example is a law f irm . Here, human beings are much more important than the t echnology in that line of work. In the case of organizations which are based on technology such as factories, management of technology is more important than management of humans. In fact, the human element in this kind of organization is limited and less needed in management, and sometimes leads to high risks. A manufacturing company that needs to use a large n umber of robots would place more importance on the technological side. Some other views go with idea that both management of technology and management of human elements will remain important. The argument that supports this view goes as follows: most firms cannot prosper unless both ( technology and human elements ) are managed well.
