The Helsinki Accords: The rights of humans, the responsibility of leaders.

Abraham Mendoza, Ulises Soriano Senior Division Group Website Process Paper

We chose our topic because one of the most important things that humans have are rights. Without rights there is a greater possibility of dictatorship rising in countries, nations violating citizens rights which include privacy, freedom of speech, religion and belief. Gulag is a perfect example of how these rights were violated. The prisoners of these camps were beaten, starved, tortured and almost killed. The Helsinki Accords seeked to change the violation of rights by gathering 35 countries including the United States and Canada. We chose the topic because it dealt with the Rights of all citizens of all countries and the responsibility these countries took to stop the crisis in a formal and professional way. All our research was conducted online, on Government Website, University Websites, History Websites and a few books on the Human Rights subject. We searched up basic sources and by analyzing at their cited work we can branch of two more professional websites and when searching images, finding their original site can lead us to more primary sources like speeches from the leaders themselves presenting their claim and videos of the actual conference taking place. These methods provide us with more sources to support our topic overall expanding our knowledge of the topic. One of the best ways to display information in an efficient and clean format would be through a website. Professional websites will tend to be organized and divided by categories and also provide a wide range of options when thinking about designs. Websites also provide a larger range of formats that may satisfy different learning styles, such as papers, images, videos, audio files, and graphic representations such as charts, graphs, and maps. When you think about the Helsinki Accords, the best way of displaying information is through a website. Imagine having a picture that displays the emotion of a Gulag citizen, and when you're disgusted by seeing a human tortured, the picture automatically moves to something that gives you exact information about the picture; now that would be one of the best ways of having information displayed to you. Rights and Responsibilities, the project revolves around the rights of people in communist and dictated countries and their human rights were suppressed and violated. Now the Helsinki Accords were made for several reasons but the most important reason was to enforce human rights around Europe. There were a total of 35 countries that met together at Helsinki, Finland; these countries took on the responsibility of making sure that the rights of the people of Europe were protected during the convention. Each country had the responsibility to present their claim and argument and represent their country well. All countries at the end came to the agreement that the abuse to human rights shall be abolished and the people now have more freedom and more rights. Simple tasks like visiting neighboring countries, practicing your religion or simply stating your own opinion of the government were now possible with the success of the Helsinki Accords.
