Personnel: This week Administrative Secretary Shannon Nelson had some health-related issues that took her out of the office at various times during the week. This left the department with no administrative support during her absence. The good news is Shannon has returned and is on the mend. On Wednesday Wade conducted and taught Employee Performance Evaluation Training at Camp Ripley through the Minnesota Police Chief's Association. Staff continues working on the department's year-end annual report and hopes to finish soon. Detectives: This week Detective Darrin Berg was selected to sit on a promotional interview panel for the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department. Berg and other selected panel members interviewed 16 applicants for the position of Investigator for their department. Patrol: On Sunday officers investigated a reported assault at a home in the Sunnyside Estates area. The victim reported that a male suspect had tried to strangle her causing her to fear for her life before her mother intervened and told the suspect to leave the residence. The suspect left the residence on foot and began walking in the City of Cloquet. Shortly thereafter he broke into a residence

in the 800 block of Garfield Street. The homeowner called 911 and told police that she confronted the man in her residence after he broke a basement window and came into her home. After being confronted, the suspect fled the home through the broken window. Cloquet officers, along with assistance from the Fond du Lac Police Department, were able to track the male suspect's footprints through the snow and he was apprehended without incident a short time later. The suspect has been charged with Burglary in the Fourth Degree and Assault in the Fifth Degree. Department Study: Work continues on recommendations coming out of the recent department study. A meeting has been set up for next week to discuss the recommendations and suggestions regarding the Citizen Advisory Board (CAB). Miscellaneous: Several departmental staff members were invited to attend and provide input in the Cloquet Public School's long-range facilities planning meeting on Monday of this week. If you have any questions about the information provided, feel free to contact me at the police department. Respectfully Submitted,

Administrative Staff
