Archive Links Part 1 Reports from the Kunama land confirm of very serious and sinisterly conducted medical check-ups, treatments and operations, performed on the Kunama people, by the regimes regional medical staff, not to heal but to kill them. Since the sudden death, and under very suspicious conditions, of the late Dr. Alexander Nati, just over two years ago, there have been repeated deaths of many other Kunama people, under similarly mysterious conditions and with recurrence. If the principle, repetitive actions and language prove a point, is true and valid, those reports of alleged continuous maltreatment of the Kunama patients, do prove a systematically conducted acts of genocide against the Kunama race. The team of the Voice of the Kunama People/Kunama Agara Mena (VKP/KAM) and the Kunama Civic Society/Kunama Narkaba Tummada (KCS/KNT), have now jointly decided to open an official enquiry, not only into the deaths of those Kunama persons, but also on the regimes medical staff in the Kunama land, on their methods of conducting their medical check-ups, the results of those check-ups, the kinds of the medicines ordered and administered and on the kinds of treatments carried out. Added to these, a list of the names of the past and of the present responsible medical staff as well as an assessment of the overall activities of the regimes medical staff, engaged in the health service, in the Kunama land, will be made, for future considerations. The present medical staff in the region, is therefore warned to be accountable for its own operations in the performance of its medical profession. There have already been many complaints of open discrimination of the Kunama people, seeking medical care, and that many of them have never had an easy access to the medical services, offered in all of the medical centres in their entire native land. A classical example of such act of discrimination, of contempt and of injustice against the Kunama people, had been offered, some years back, by an Eri-Tigrian health officer, in Barentu, by the name of Zerabruch, when, as he was asked to send an emergency team to help a Kunama pregnant woman who was having difficulty in delivering, the officer did not only decline, but talking on the phone with one of his own friends, he was heard to have stated, in his own Tigringnga language: zei hanti Kunama ia, (she is only a Kunama woman). This had already been a clear and a deplorable act of discrimination and of contempt, which should have been duly and severely punished, but it was unfortunately left go by. Now, reliable sources are reporting again and confirming that, whenever a Kunama patient undergoes a medical-check-up, he/she is either announced with a false result about his/her illness or is he/she given a treatment or even admitted to a hospital, never to come out of it alive. This very cruel and immoral policy of systematic killing, is said to have been practised by the regimes medical staff, since the day it first set foot in the Kunama land. This undoubtedly is a policy of a systematic cleansing of the Kunama race which has been left to continue unchecked and untold ever since. Many Kunama have been victims of such cruelty, which has today come to the daylight. Any Kunama dying in heath care centres today is questionable. As already mentioned, the sudden, the unexplained and the unexplainable death of the late Dr. Alexander Nati, who, though was declared to have been on the way to recovery, after falling ill in the Kunama land, but once transferred to a hospital in Asmara, he was immediately announced dead, without any medically justified and justifiable explanation, unquestionably raises serious doubts. His death therefore was not natural but manmade, following the regimes medical staffs practice of not letting any Kunama come out of a hospital alive. All the deaths of the Kunama people so far taken place, in hospitals, clinics and in the regimes prison-cells, in the Kunama land as well as anywhere in the country, are to be attributed to the killing hands of the regimes medical staff and of its prisons guards. There are to many proofs not to see and admit such reality. There are more such deaths than otherwise. The Kunama people are being systematically killed by the regimes soldiers, by its supporters, by its fellowethnic-groups members and by its medical staff, not only in hospital, clinics and in prison-cells, but everywhere, in their urban and rural habitats and in their countryside. The Kunama farmers are being shot-dead in their crop-fields. The Kunama merchants and traders are being openly gunned-down in the market places of their own major centres. The Kunama shepherds, cow-herders and ordinary villages are being continuously shot at and killed for no reasons and their houses and hats set ablaze for sheer hatred and contempt. It is time that we Kunama take the appropriate measures. Let the PFDJs regime of Mr. Isaias Afwerki himself, be warned that ethnic-cleansing is a crime calling for the intervention and for the hand of the international court of justice and that what is taking place upon the Kunama people in their land is nothing less that a true and clear ehtnic-cleansing, punishable with the

harshest means of justice. The VKP/KAM and the KCS/KNT: (October 5, 2006).
