Project environment

Specific needs *********************** We will see, when we will receive applications if we can host a volunteer we less opportunities. That will depend of his profile and his motivation for a 9 months project. Project environment ********************************* Location of the project: Montpellier: Located in south of France, near the Mediterranean, Montpellier, regional capital of the Languedoc Roussillon, has more than 250,000 inhabitants and is growing at about 10 000 inhabitants per year. It is a pioneer in sustainable development (housing, transportation ...) and is currently the 8th largest city in France in population. Montpellier is well known for its university and by the very good wines of the area. The young EVS will be housed and fed by the C REPS during the entire school year, for example, from September 1, 2013 to June 31, 2014, desired duration for its volunteering. He will be under the responsibility of the manager of this part of the C REPS. He will be in contact with the high level secretary team, the supervisors and the reception team. The volunteer will be integrated within the high level department in the educational team composed of six night supervisors and a educational coordinator, actually volunteer in the frame of the French civic service. For more information have a look at www.montpellier.fr and www.creps-montpellier.org

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers *********************************************** The volunteer work will be essentially an educational role that means to be ready to assist young athletes during all the time except during the school time. Under the responsibility of the educational coordinator of the high sports level, it will have: - A mission to relay information between supervisors, the Secretariat level and the concierge. - A monitoring mission on specific times in the C REPS - A mission of help to the homeworks including in his native tongue or in English or Spanish . - A specific mission to propose leisure and animation to youths sports staying during the weekends on C REPS. This mission is about a boarding school with a hundred young sportsmen and sportswomen aged 12 to 20 years and whose accommodation is spread over three residences inside the C REPS. In this context, the C REPS contributes to the two projects of the students, success in their sport associated with success in school project. The C REPS thinks that an educational support on site at the end of the day is a reinforcing factor and helps them in their studies. C REPS will give the volunteer, in connection with C oncordia, possibilities to participate in short courses

to enhance their knowledge and expertise.

Volunteer profiles and recruitment process ***************************************************** Due to the function, during the volunteering, of helping the youths in their homework and in particular in two languages in which most young athletes are enrolled in their studies: English and Spanish, we will ask for volunteer from England and Spain or youth speaking one or two of these languages. The young European volunteer will have to speak a minimum of French in order to communicate with young athletes. The volunteer will have to be motivated or to have some educational experience to young people in his country. That would be nice if his personal project was linked with education or animation with youths. Finally, it goes without saying that this young person will be fundamentally motivated by the sports culture as a practitioner himself without being high level. Seeking age: young adult with some experience to supervise adolescents aged 12 to 18 years.

Number of volunteers One volunteer for the first experimental year ****************************** Risk prevention, protection and safety ********************************************** The volunteer will have a list of emergency numbers in the accommodation including the home and mobile numbers of staff members. The volunteer will work in a place were many security controls are made and the people from the school have knowledge in security and safety. The volunteer will work within the rules of C REPS in the frame of a sports area and an integrated educational and disciplinary framework for young athletes. The safety of public facilities obviously applies to C REPS. On a medical side, the volunteer will also be able to use all the facilities and contacts of the C REPS. In terms of support, a tutor will be named within the high level department to facilitate the integration within the educational team and provide regular updates on this experience with him. This will be the person in charge of the school support in the C REPS; The volunteer will be in every days relationship with her. She will help the volunteer in his every days life and to resolve his problems. There will be also a tutor from C oncordia, the coordinating organisation. This tutor has experience in tutoring and will help to organise in a good direction this project.

Motivation and E VS experience

It is a first request for hosting a volunteer in the EVS program with the partnership of the association C ONC ORDIA. The objective is to allow a European young person to make experience a living in a public institution welcoming youth sports in the frame of the Ministry of Sport and Youth. The perspective would be the possible link between C REPS and the European city which will be from the EVS and opening receptions on internships or youth sports.

Description of the organisation
