1.0 SCOPE

The work to be done shall include, but not limited to, the procurement of entire workmanship, materials, equipment and services necessary for carrying out pressure test on the entire station pipe equipment, including the repairs arising from the test, as stated in the present Specifications and/or as indicated in the drawings. The purpose of the present Specifications is to apply pressure test according to the strength of the system in order to ensure that the pipe system is safe, free from leaks, free from harmful defects and ready for commissioning. 1.1 REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS Station pipe equipment 4-NGTL 0-GN-P-002-4000 Welding 4-NGTL 0-GN-P-002-5005 Pipe welding examination 4-NGTL 0-GN-P-002-5006 Sanitary installation works 4-NGTL0-GN-M-002-4004 Heating, ventilation and air conditioner 4-NGTL0-GN-M-002-4005 General pipe equipment materials 4-NGTL 0-GN-P-002-5110 1.2 CODES AND STANDARDS The entire workmanship, materials and equipment shall subject to, but not limited with, the final editions of the following codes, standards and specifications: ANSI/ASME B 31.8, natural gas transfer and distribution pipe equipment systems Turkish national standards National natural gas code ANSI Z 223.1 ASME Section VIII, boiler and pressure containers code, Part 1 ASTM American society for tests and materials 1.3 TEST PRESSURES Minimum pressures shall be as stated in the attached table. Test pressure of the pipe equipment being tested should be monitored considering protecting the pressure at the highest level. 1.4 EXAMINATION BOTAS authorized representative shall be present during tests. The test time shall be communicated to BOTAS in advance.
2.0 GENERAL

Water, methanol and glycol mixtures shall be supplied by the CONTRACTOR for using in the cold air hydrostatic test. The CONTRACTOR shall supply water or methanol-water mixture and shall dispose the mixture after using. BOTAS preserves the right to request from the CONTRACTOR to take samples from the weld before carrying out hydrostatic test. Sampling and testing costs shall be borne by the CONTRACTOR.

The CONTRACTOR should supply the pumps and other equipment necessary for filling in the pipe and carrying out the test. The test medium should be free from chloride for austenite stainless steel. The CONTRACTOR shall supply gasket for testing the pipes. The CONTRACTOR shall supply all of the temperature and pressure record devices, deadweight test devices, gages and test load as required. Damages which occur in the materials due to not using materials as required or not observing the provisions of the present Specifications shall be repaired by the CONTRACTOR the relevant costs being borne by him. 3.0 APPLICATION 3.1 GENERAL Before commissioning, the CONTRACTOR shall test the entire pipe equipment in a manner to satisfy BOTAS. Testing operation of the lines and method for draining all of the lines shall be submitted to the approval of BOTAS. Each system shall be tested according to the pressure and time stated in the present Specifications and in the contract documents complying with the classification of the test, and shall be in full compliance with the following operations: Pipe equipment shall be examined carefully for leaks and/or bents. All of the defects exposed by the test shall be corrected and the equipment shall be retested for a test period fully away from the defect. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for correcting the materials and workmanship defects exposed by the test. No test shall be carried out under any condition, unless BOTAS is present in and approves the test. Before carrying out the hydrostatic test, adequate measures shall be taken for discharging fluid from the pipe equipment systems upon injecting the fluid, discharging the air and completing the tests. For this purpose, openings shall be projected and installed as approved by BOTAS and consistent with the pressure-temperature yields of the system on which they are tested. Ball stoppers shall be placed at all of the threaded underground drain points. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible from filling or draining connections necessary for any additional hydrostatic test purposes. Natural gas shall not be allowed to be used as a test medium in any case. De-chlorinated water or lubrication oil shall be used for testing the stainless steel pipes. 3.2 TESTING PROCEDURE All of the valves and their complementary parts shall be controlled before filling the pipeline for ensuring that they are at the necessary working condition. Also the correct positions of the valves should be controlled. Before filling in the fittings, these should be controlled for tightness and greased. New gaskets shall be used.

Measurement gauges, regulators, discharge valves, control valves, transmitters, openingclosing wrenches and other instruments shall be taken away from the system before the tested. Already tested containers and valves may be included in the test for convenience or may be left out of the test (except the compressor pipes). If the valves are tested, attention shall be paid for protecting the valve slots or bearings; test pressure shall only be applied to the valve body. Valve bodies shall be drained fully after completing the test. The equipment of the compressor supplied by the seller, compressor itself and lubrication consoles shall be left out of all of the hydrostatic tests in order to avoid damaging. Such materials should be tested hydrostatically in accordance with 4-NGTL 0-CS-M-002-4400 before being released for the use of CONTRACTOR and due to their complexity or tendency to break, such materials shall not be allowed for repeated hydrostatic tests. When all of the sections are filled, the air locked inside should be discharged from the existing access points. Air release or discharge valves shall be placed on the profile at intermediate high points selected at minimum number in a section before making any change in their amounts or place without the consent of BOTAS authorized representative, and shall be installed to their places before filling the system. Air discharge or release valves shall be 1 ball valve or dead valve, 3000, NPT or equivalent. Hex head ball stoppers and dead flanges shall be placed except where measurement gauges, record devices or pumps should be connected. Pressure pump and its couplings should be controlled before the test in order to ensure that they are strong enough to resist pressure they are going to be exposed to. Test pressure should be increased slowly in each system and the leaks should be repaired as they appear. Pressure shall be decreased to a safe level (to atmospheric level for gas systems) before tightening the couplings for ensuring personnel safety. Workers shall be kept away from the pressure test area and recording devices shall be placed at a safe distance from the tested lines. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible from carrying on the test until leaks appear or for a minimum time period as stated in the table. Detailed records of all of the leaks or breaks shall be kept and repairs and replacements shall be carried out in accordance with the present construction specifications. After repairing the leaks, test section shall be increased to full (or a little higher than full) test pressure, balancing according to temperature shall be allowed and test shall be re-started and carried out for the whole time period. Leaks, which arise during test and cause test pressure to decrease, shall cause the test to be restarted. A temperature recording device shall be installed by the CONTRACTOR at a small distance from the open pipe at one end of each tested section, sensor shall be placed in the pipe covered thoroughly with isolation material. Pressure increases which take place as the temperature of the test medium increases (for instance due to the increase in environmental temperature) shall not be allowed to exceed the stated test pressure more than 3 BAR. Excess pressure shall be released carefully back to the test pressure and this issue shall be noted on the test diagram. Pressure drops caused by temperature drops in the test medium (for instance drops in the environmental temperature at night time) shall be acceptable provided that the test pressure is decreased

due to a decrease in the temperature of the test medium. Pressure decreases caused by temperature shall not be corrected by applying additional pressure. Originals of all the test record diagrams shall be delivered to BOTAS. The CONTRACTOR may keep the certified copies of the diagrams. The CONTRACTOR should dispose the water used in the test and the other test medium in a manner to satisfy the authorities competent in these fields.
