Maxedia is Martin Professional’s high
performance digital media server for the
easy creation of stunning graphical displays
- the most user-friendly tool for media
composing and playback available today.
This professional HD-playback system with powerful effect
plug-ins utilizes an intuitive touchscreen-optimized user
interface to access a vast library of media clips, still images
and multidimensional animations - or users can input their
own custom content - without the need for a complex
lighting controller.
More than a simple video playback device, Maxedia is a
state-of-the-art media composer that encourages creativity.
Manipulate digital media in an endless variety of ways for
immediate, eye-catching, professional results. And because
Maxedia is designed around the user and not a DMX
protocol, the learning curve is fast with even first time users
up and running in a matter of minutes.
Maxedia uses standard DMX 512 or Ethernet DMX over
Artnet protocol.
Handles a multitude of media
Maxedia can handle a multitude of digital media including
Quicktime H.264 MOV Video, MPEG-2/4, WMV, BMP/
JPG/TGA/PNG images, live video input, 3D graphics, AVI
Video and Flash animation.
Video signal output can be sent to any form of display
device from plasma screens to projectors to creative LED
displays like Martin LC Series™ LED panels using VGA,
DVI, S-Video or SDI signal (optional).
Maxedia includes an enormous amount of 3D effects and
renders such as 2D and 3D smoke and water effects,
particle generators, 3D object shading and text engines to
name a few.
Ultra-widescreen
Maxedia can easily handle wide screen arrays with support
for screen resolutions up to 3840 X 1024 per output,
making it ideal for multi-screen projections or even extra
large LED displays.
State-of-the-art video playback engine
A B mixer
Maxedia contains a powerful custom playback engine for
seamless and smooth playback of media files. Media files
can be manipulated in hundreds of ways such as intensity,
coloration, color effects, position, rotation, and more. Pow-
erful, built-in frame-blending is also included. Even overlay
media files in multiple layers for endless creative possibili-
ties. And Maxedia does it in real time with no delays for
easy last minute content changes.
Professional AVC H.264 Codec
Maxedia 4, the latest version software, features a host of
upgrades including an entirely new video engine that uses
the latest high-performance professional video codec. The
new Maxedia video engine is optimized to play multiple Full
Cue programmer
HD 1080p H.264 MPEG-4/AVC Codec, the only codec that
can deliver high quality video while maintaining a decent file
size.
Using the latest video cards and new multi-core proces-
sors, the new video engine is capable of playing up to 8 full
HD 1080p at the same time without frame drop. Maxedia is
capable of running two separate video engines simultane-
ously and a total of 20 layers can be active at the same time.
Each layer can display videos, 3D animations, graphic
effects, sound-to-video effects and much more. The pixel
accurate video engine ensures that video is reproduced in
its exact format without any artifact or a “block” look.
Pixelmapping Engine
Customizable Graphical User Interface
The Maxedia video engine is accessible via an intuitive and
easy to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) with configu-
rable screens and layouts. The GUI output display gives
direct access to all parameters with an instant overview of
the media content and layers. With 16 screen views, Maxe-
dia offers plenty of options to customize the user interface
around the needs of the user and application.

Innovative plug-ins
- creative control at your fingertips
With Maxedia, easy to create, professional lighting looks
are only a few screen taps away. Effects are provided as
separate plug-ins with their own individual control layouts
and interactive access. Create media overlays and play with
the effects plug-ins to generate something new every time,
even with the same media files.
Maxedia plug-ins can be used by themselves or layered
with other media files, providing endless options and modi-
fications. Create an ocean of color, rain drops, smoke
animations or a colorized plasma animation without ever
needing to find the right media file. Animate custom text for
messages or lyrics. Additionally, a variety of matrix plug-ins
is available specifically designed for fixture arrays like
LEDs.
Use Maxedia to alter media on the fly. Add an effect in just
a few seconds instead of using hours on re-rendering and
recompiling.
Maxedia pixelmapping - video to DMX
Imagine taking the video from your LC Series LED panels
Various plug-ins and extending it to hundreds of moving heads or any other
DMX controlled device, effectively making each fixture a
single pixel of the video image. With Maxedia pixelmapping,
this is possible and more.
The Maxedia pixelmapping engine can control a multitude
of fixture types from RGB to dimmer and can even take
control of the CMY color mixing of moving heads for
perfect synchronization of video with lighting. Consider the
Pixelmapping stage a canvas and colorize it using the Maxedia system
instead of generic color presets from the lighting console.
Multi-screen edge blending
Each Maxedia engine contains its own screen edge blend-
ing settings, as well as settings for keystoning and warping,
which allow corrections to parallax, alignment, distortion or

distinct outputs, and each output can be individually
keystoned and edge blended. Maxedia edge blending
eliminates banding by blending together the three outputs
to display a seamless single image for exact eye-catching

graphics.
Large media library
Maxedia comes with DVDs of media content, containing a
wide variety of video files, still images and animations to get
you started immediately. All media import is handled by the
Maxedia Media Manager and an easy to execute backup
routine conveniently puts all stock and custom media files in
one archive. The Maxedia Content Navigator allows view-
ing of the DVD content before importing into the Maxedia
system.
MaxNet - Maxedia Networking
Today’s media server setup requires complete integration
between each system. For this purpose we have developed
MaxNet, a zero-config network-based protocol which
connects Maxedia and Maxxyz lighting console systems
together in one unified platform.
MaxNet allows multiple Maxedias to synchronize and share
content.
Additionally, Maxedia uses the CTIP 1.1 protocol for infor-
mation exchange with compatible systems such as Martin’s
Maxxyz controller. This greatly simplifies a programmer’s
workflow by displaying on the lighting
controller a thumbnail preview
of each media’s file and cues.

Maxedia PRO™
Based on a dual-core processing sys-
tem, Maxedia PRO is a highly capable
media server with support for High
Definition content playback up to two
1080p. Two outputs are available and
each can be configured as a user
interface or playback engine. The
engine output can be split over three
projectors for seamless widescreen
images. Maxedia PRO supports a full
Pixelmapping engine for CMY and
RGB systems.
Maxedia Broadcast™
Maxedia Broadcast contains the fast-
est hardware available for powerful and
smooth playback of High Definition
content with ultra-fast multiple-core
processors, multiple 1080p playback
support and two dedicated engine
outputs. Nearly a terabyte of drive
space in a RAID array is available to
support even the largest shows.
Two powerful graphics cards provide
a dedicated user interface plus two
engine outputs. Each output can be
split over a maximum of three displays
for custom wide screen projections,
allowing a maximum of six projectors
to be connected to Maxedia Broad-
cast. Maxedia Broadcast supports a
full pixelmapping engine for CMY and
RGB systems. Maxedia Broadcast
also supports the Professional HD-
SDI capture card for high quality/low
latency video capture up to 1080p,
720p Live HD-SDI.
Maxedia Compact
Rackmount™
Maxedia Compact Rackmount is a
budget-minded solution with slightly
reduced features. Up to six layers of
SD and HD video media can be placed
into a cue and it contains the same
amount of content as Maxedia PRO
for immediate results. Pixelmapping is
also possible. This is an ideal package
for installations, productions and rent-
al companies as it is mounted in a
small 2U rack housing.
Each version of Maxedia has been
extensively tested with hours of burn-
in testing performed to ensure that all
components comply with Martin’s
high standards.

media server and Maxedia delivers in a big
way by taking full advantage of 1080p
technology, assuring that you get the best
possible picture.
HD offers amazingly sharp images for crystal clear detail
and a smoother flowing picture that has fewer artifacts and
less jagged edges and lines. Simply put, High Definition
playback is higher quality and increases the visual experi-
ence.
Maxedia Broadcast is optimized for High Definition play-
back and Maxedia 4 software is highly optimized to support
H.264/MPEG-4/AVC for superior performance and top
video quality. Up to eight 1080p H.264 videos can run si-
multaneously.
Expand your horizons
In order to get the full HD benefit and experience, a wide
screen display is a must. Maxedia can easily handle wide
screen arrays with support for screen resolutions up to
3840 X 1024 per output, making it ideal for multi-screen
projections or even extra large LED displays.
The Maxxyz Button module also works with the new
Maxedia 4™ software to recall cues, transitions and
other functions.
The built-in encoder belt can be assigned as manual
dissolver between cues as well as setting transition
time and intensity.
