Course Number: ELC 724318 Course Title: Install Computer System and Networks Course Credit: Three (3) Credit Hours Prerequisites: None Placement in Curriculum: Computer Hardware Servicing NC II Instructor: Lornilo S. Alimpuangon

Course Description: This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills of the students in accordance with industry standards. It provides them with the computer operation knowledge and basic skills prior to the conduct of servicing computer hardware and software components which are essentials towards becoming competent individuals especially using information and communication technological advancement. It also provides computer hands-on activities which give students the opportunity to apply and master what they have learned through the actual use of computer. The student will be able to use computer terms properly and computer software competently. They will be able to learn how to assemble and disassemble a PC, partition and format a windows installation, and install applications and utility software. It is a perfect way for those who have little or no experience with computers to establish a strong and competent career and be a part of Information and Communication Technology industry.

By the end of the semester, the students will be able to:

Understand the computer system concepts. Identify and explain functions of computer parts and its peripherals. Follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) in software and hardware components installations. Recognize and practice the Occupational Health and Safety Procedures. Understand uses of computer tools and the BIOS Setup program. Install computer hardware, operating system software and device drivers. Demonstrate computer hardware and software installation procedure. Make an illustrative project(s) showing the parts of computer and its functions.
