CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SIGNS CATALINA HOTEL AND BEACH CLUB

AS OFFICIAL HOST HOTEL OF SLEEPLESS NIGHT
Miami Beach, FL -- The City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural
Development is very pleased to announce that the CATALINA HOTEL AND BEACH
CLUB will be the Offical Host Hotel of SLEEPLESS NIGHT 2009, the free, 13-hour,
dusk-til-dawn, citywide celebration of the arts.

The Catalina is the hip flagship of the South Beach Hotel Group, and was an
enthusiastic participant in Sleepless Night 2007. “We had so much fun at the first
Sleepless Night that we jumped at the chance to participate as a sponsor this year,” said
Linsey Harris, General Manager of the Catalina. “Sleepless Night is the quintessential
Miami Beach event, and we hope to be involved for years to come.”

In addition to providing rooms for participating Sleepless Night artists and performers
from England, California, Texas, Montreal, France, New York and elsewhere, the
Catalina and its adjacent sister properties will offer 13 full hours of free pop art and
music events. The public will have the opportunity to meet Florida pop artists Stephen
Gamson, Helena Garcia and John Kissee and view exhibitions of their work, as well as
that of the child artists from the Shake-A-Leg Miami organization. On tap at Maxine’s
Bistro will be “Catalina Unplugged!!,” ten hours of live music featuring Caribbean
Calypso, Gustavo Fidelis, ArtOfficial, Geneiva Allen, and Rose Max & Ramatis. The pop
art theme continues at the nearby Riviera South Beach, which will show works of Miami
artist Ed King, and showcase feature vocalist Juanita Marie Franklin.

“This kind of partnership is really what Sleepless Night is all about, “ said Max Sklar, the
City’s Director of Tourism and Cultural Development. “The success of the event
depends on the enthusiastic participation of our businesses to provide the critical mass
of programming beyond what the City itself is presenting, and the Catalina’s really raised
the bar this year.”

South Beach Hotel Group offers accommodations from economy hotels for the budget-
minded traveler to upscale properties for the most sophisticated visitors. All are true,
historic boutique hotels in the heart of Miami Beach. In addition to the Catalina Hotel &
Beach Club, other South Beach Group properties include the Hotel Chelsea,
Chesterfield Hotel, Suites & Day Spa, Mercury Resort, Metropole South Beach, Riviera
South Beach, Hotel Shelley and Whitelaw Hotel. All are offering special packages for
Sleepless Night.

We are committed to providing excellent public service and safety to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, tropical, historic community.
Catalina Hotel and Beach Club joins title sponsor Audi of America, Inc., presenting
sponsor John L. and James S. Knight Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts,
the Ocean Drive Association, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and
Classical South Florida 89.7 FM, among others, to provide the funding and services
necessary to produce this free,13-hour-long event.

Sleepless Night, which will next take place November 7, 2009, is a sundown-to-sunrise,
free arts celebration. It is produced by the City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism
and Cultural Development and Cultural Arts Council in collaboration with every cultural
organization in the city, together with private businesses and individuals. It offers free
museum admissions, indoor and outdoor art installations and performances,
architectural tours, dance (and dancing,) theater, music, film, slam poetry, fashion
shows, acrobatics, comedy and other cultural offerings, all presented without admission
charge at over 80 different venues spread throughout the city and the 13-hour night.
Free shuttle buses with onboard arts programming connect the various zones of activity
and remote parking for the duration of the event.

The last Sleepless Night (2007) presented more than 130 arts and entertainment events
to over 100,000 residents and visitors of all ages. “It was the best multi-genre arts event
I’ve ever enjoyed here in South Florida – in over three decades!” said Ed Bell, producer
and host of WLRN 91.3FM’s “South Florida Arts Beat.” “Sleepless Night will prove to be
South Florida’s premiere annual arts extravaganza.”
