YOU’RE INVITED

[Develop eagerness to be part of the activities of the

community]

“Come everything is ready.” Luke 14:17

Goals
§ To realize that it is God who invites us in every
activity of the community
§ To be eager in attending activities of the
community
Mechanics
1. Send out invitations to the members prior to the
date of the household. It would be good to make
creative invitations to encourage and excite them
to attend the prayer meeting
2. The household will be a fellowship. i.e., eating,
bonding and updating of each other’s lives, etc
3. Allot time for fellowship before the sharing
Guide Questions
1. How does it feel to be invited?
2. How do you respond to the invitation?
3. How do you feel during the activity?
Lessons
1. In every activity of the community, God is inviting
us to know Him more and experience His ultimate
love for us
2. For every invitation of the Lord, may we be eager
and joyful to meet and experience Him there
3. We have to attend activities of the community
because God will speak to us there
Action Plan
1. Find out when the next activity of YFC will be and
make sure to reserve that date so you can attend
2. Pray to God everyday that nothing will hinder you
from attending the activity
My profile
Goal
§ Introduction to the importance of personal
identity
Materials
1. Clean Paper
2. Pen
Dynamics
1. Let the participants think of a cartoon
character that would best describe their
personality
2. Have them sketch this on the paper, without
showing it to others
3. Have them fold the paper once they are
done
4. Group the participants into 8-10 members
5. The group facilitator would gather the folded
papers and mixed around
6. Let the group facilitator pick out a piece of
paper and show it to the group
7. The rest of the group then tries to guess who
drew the character
8. When they have made the right guess, let the
person who chose the character share on
why he/she chose that particular cartoon
character
9. Everyone must have a turn in sharing to the
group
SCHEDULE:
Opening prayer 5 minutes
Groupings 5 minutes
Activity 45 minutes
Closing prayer 5 minutes
Human scavenger hunt
Goals
§ Familiarity with all the other members of the club
§ Promote the idea that YFC club is essentially a
good set of friends
Dynamics
1. Divide a sheet of paper into twenty-five sections,
like a grid.
2. Write a different description in each section of the
grid.
3. Hand each student a copy of the grid and tell
them they're going on a human scavenger hunt.
4. Participants must find 25 different people who
match the descriptions and have them sign their
name in the appropriate box.

For the descriptions on the grid, you can select any

25 topics, but here is a list of possibilities; insert a
blank line before each phrase where the student
who matches the description can sign their name:
• has a pet fish
• has a phone number with two digits that are the
same
• has a brother or sister under three years old
• loves to shop
• has a relative that lives in another country

• has a brother or sister who also goes to this school
• plays more than one sport
• loves to study in a noisy environment
• eats ballot, including the embryo
• can play at least 2 musical instruments
• favorite subject is math

The topics themselves are not important, as the idea

is to get the students moving about talking to all of
the other kids in the classroom. Be creative and add
your own topics!

Schedule
Opening prayer 5 minutes
Activity 35 minutes
Processing 15 minutes
Closing prayer 5 minutes

Guide Questions
1. How did you feel answering/ asking the questions?
2. What did you learn from the activity?

Lessons
1. The topics we choose can tell a lot about how
much of ourselves we reveal to others (especially
when we hardly know them) and how much we
try to build relationships with them.
2. The more we are willing to invest/ risk in any
relationship, the more we also receive in return.
3. In this club, we need to share as much of ourselves
as we possibly can to make this club work, to
mirror Jesus to those around us.

1. Friendship is a gift that is given to us. And just
like any gift, it should be received and should
be taken cared of.
2. We would be encountering “strangers” along
the way but it is up to us to take the risk to
offer build new relationships or accept the gift
of friendship offered by others.
3. It would take time to establish a good
friendship but we must first be brave enough
to have it started.
SEE ME THROUGH
Goals

Topic Outline
I. Introduction to the Activity
(Activity Proper)

II. Experiencing Christ Within Us

A. We are privileged to be given all the blessings
we enjoy now in our lives.
B. We have been given all the opportunities to
grow and in the process serve as an example
for other people.
C. Christ effectively works through us whenever
we achieve success in all our endeavors
(studies, relationships, other activities)
D. We are driven by the knowledge that other
people support us.
E. We strive to do our best when we are aware
that people appreciate what we are doing.

III. Sharing Christ to Others

A. As God’s children, we have experienced the
joy of serving in His kingdom. We should take
on the attitude of being an inspiration to other
people, an effective instrument in bringing
others to Him.
B. This appreciation should not only be for
ourselves but for others.
C. People need affirmation from others in order
for them to know that they are affecting
others in a positive way.
D. Through encouragement, we reinforce
whatever good behavior they have and
provide a venue for them to properly channel
their service to God and to others.
E. Even in the event of something undesirable,
we strive to see Christ in every situation.
Instead of noticing what is wrong, we focus on
what we can learn from what we do well.

IV. Relating with Each Other as a Family in Christ

A. It is our duty to build lasting relationships with
each other because we are all working
towards the same goal of sharing our
experience of Christ to others.
B. It is our privilege to be serving Him in a manner
that no other person can unless he/she
believes Christ exists within.
C. Let us uphold one of the best values YFC can
instill in us, the value of honoring.
D. To honor is to recognize the significance of
each other, the love of Christ and the glory of
God in each individual.

Note: For extended club periods, the activity proper

and/or the time for sharing / discussion /
exhortation may be lengthened.
THE PATRIOT
[Love of Country]

Goals
§ To appreciate that the essence of patriotism is
love for God.
§ To know how we can concretely and actively
do something for the nation
§ To develop a deeper love and concern for
the poor and be motivated them to translate
this love through actions.

Dynamics
1. Creative: SKIT (The King and the Generals)
Pointers to consider:
a. Make the story light
b. It is suggested we create comedy skit
c. Highlight the point about the reason of
serving
d. For added effect, use makeshift costume
and props
2. Talk Proper
3. Sharing
There must be 1-2 shares who will magnify the
major points of the talk (ie: being a patriot
provider, protector, or priest)
4. Group Discussion
5. Afterwards, the speaker will process the
sharing and will segue to the closing worship

SKIT – The story: The King and The Generals

There was once a King with two generals, who
work alternately to ensure the safety of the
fortress and accompany the King during outside
mission.
The generals were both great soldiers and
leaders. They vowed to protect the King and the
kingdom with their lives. They differed only in one
thing: the reason why they serve.
The first general served because it was his
sworn duty to serve the king. He started his
training since he was young. He learned to owe
his allegiance to no one else but the king.
The second general, on the other hand,
served because he loved the king with his heart.
You see, the second general and the king grew
up together and were friends since they were
small. Many times did the king saved the
general’s life from the wild animals when they
were kids. He happily served as a general
because this was his way of returning the love
and kindness that the king has given him.

The Skit
The story focuses on the reasons of the generals
translated in the performance of their responsibilities.
The first general, because he saw his service as an
obligation, soon got overworked and burnt out with
everything that he was doing.
The second general, on the other hand, had a
deeper reason, which was love. Love enabled him
to endure the difficulties that go with being a
general.

Morale
In serving, we must have a deeper reason that “it
is my responsibility” or “because I am obliged”.
Because if it is our only reason, when things become
too demanding, we get easily disheartened and
tired. Our reason for serving others and doing our
responsibilities should be LOVE. Love pushes us to
endure.

Anchor Verse
“My children, our love should not be just words
and talk; it must be true love which shows itself in
action.” 1 John 3:18

Talk Outline
I. Introduction
This country is God’s gift to us and we are born
and raised here for a greater purpose. We
wouldn’t be who we are if we are not born in this
country. We wouldn’t think the same way, talk
the same way, and act the same way. We are
where we are right now because God designed
us to be here.
However, we are not here just to fill in a
space. We are here for a deeper purpose and
that purpose is either incidentally or ultimately
connected to our mother land.

II. The Patriot

A true patriot is someone who is passionate for
the country and for his countrymen. He is
someone who takes his responsibility and
accountability seriously. He holds nothing back,
realizing that all he has is given for a purpose. He
does this not because he is obliged to do it. He
does it because he is pushed by a greater
purpose; and that purpose is LOVE.
“…our love should not be just words and talk;
it must be true love which shows itself in action.” 1
John 3:18
A true patriot loves God. And his love for God
pushes him to translate this love to the people
around him, especially those who need it the
most.

III. Our Call

As God’s followers, we are called to be
patriots. We are called to translate our passion
for God into concrete actions. We are to be:

A. Stewards of God’s gifts

As patriots, we are to be passionate in
sharing. We are called to be good stewards
of God’s providence. We share what we
have to others but most especially to those
who lack. Patriots give their all in excellence,
be it time, talent or treasure.
1. Take time to listen to other people who
need someone to talk to, to play with the
kids, or to visit regularly the sick and the
needy
2. Tutor the kids and youth in the Gawad
Kalinga sites or in the depressed areas or
teach them skills such as singing and
dancing, physical health and hygiene
3. Share whatever we have with others.
Celebrate birthdays in the GK sites, be
advocate of our work with the poor and
social justice.

B. Source of encouragement
We talk courage to guide the youth. We
aim to inspire and build up their spirits. We
motivate the young people in the GK sites to
study. WE focus on their talents and skills. We
should be generous with them with our
compliments and praise.

C. Vessel of hope
We ourselves believe that they can rise
above poverty. We entertain and encourage
their big dreams, like becoming engineers or
public accountants or businessmen. We
dream with them, we support them make
their dreams happen.

D. Champion of the poor

Knowing is one thing, loving is another.
When we call ourselves champions, it only
means that we have decided to love. We are
proud of being connected to Gawad
Kalinga. We talk about working with the poor
to our friends, family and relatives, not really
boasting about what we do, but simply
sharing the joy we have.

As patriots, we are called to be passionate

in caring. God has lovingly shared with all of
us His divinity by creating us in His image and
likeness. Thus, we are capable of things of the
Spirit – care, sacrifice, and heroism. All these
are within our capacity to give. WE can go
beyond ourselves, dying a little if we must, to
sacrifice, to forego our selfish tendencies so
that others may simply live.

IV. Conclusion
Being a patriot is living life to the fullest; living
life with a deep sense of purpose. It is knowing
that we are where we are because god intends
us to be there. This is our inheritance and we are
called to be stewards of this. Our love for God
pushes us to answer to this call. Our love for God
pushes us to be more than just citizens; our love
for God pushes us to be patriots.

Guide Questions
1. How can you be a patriot of the poor in your
everyday life?
2. IN your own little ways, how can you show
that you are stewards of God’s gifts, source of
encouragement, vessel of hope and
champion of the poor?
CARE TO CHAT
[Honesty, Trust, Openness, Listening, and Respect]

Goals
§ To appreciate the importance of open
communication as a way of reaching out to
one another
§ To see it as a venue to resolve
misunderstandings within the family
§ To learn how to practice open
communication
Mechanics
1. Write down the different roles in communicating in
separate pieces of paper. Fold it after (ie. the
listener, the silent one, shy to speak, distracting
one, loud voice, not open, trusts a lot to open up,
straightforward, beating around the bush)
2. Ask your members to pick from the folded pieces.
3. Ask them to open the pieces. Explain that, these
are the roles that they will have during the group
discussion. Instruct not to reveal those roles for the
meantime.
4. Give a simple guide question (ie. How is your
family right now? What did you do today?)
5. Proceed to the discussion and facilitate the group.
6. As each one shares, the roles of each member
should be portrayed.
7. After the discussion, ask them to reveal the role
they had during the activity.

Guide Questions
1. What role do you play among these? Who
play/s these roles among your family?
Father - soft spoken
Mother - straightforward
You - not comfortable with revealing
things
2. How do you deal with the people who have
different characteristics in communicating?

Lessons
Strong relationships are based on honesty,
trust, and respect. These can be weakened or
strengthened through communication. Open
communication allows us to be real to one another
thus allowing the person to understand you more.
As of this pint, most of us still struggle in
communicating well towards certain members of
our family. We must all remember one thing – that
our family is a gift from God. He sends them to us in
our lives for a purpose. We must seek and learn how
to see Jesus in them.
Seeing Jesus in them would allow us to trust
them more, to be honest towards them, to give
them respect, and be open to them. This in turn
would allow us to realize that they can love us as we
are and thus grow in a deeper relationship with
them.

Action Plan
1. Start praying to God on helping you to practice
open communication with your family.
2. Ask God to lead you to choose the right person
to start practicing it with.
3. Approach that member in your family and try to
tell a story of something that they don’t know
about you yet. (ie the new things that you did or
achieve; you know how to play the guitar; you
already know what to take in college; share to
your mom or dad about your crush)
TOWER OF BABYLON
Goal
§ Build teamwork and realize the importance of
communication

Materials
§ Bundle of bbq sticks
§ Masking tape
§ Hanky for blindfolds
§ Picture of a tower

Mechanics
1. This team building activity can be played indoors.
2. The whole group can be divided into smaller
groups with five members each.
3. Each member has a specific role:
• “Visionary”
o he will be shown what to do but he won’t be
allowed to tell the coach. He can only use
sign language to communicate what to do.
• “Coach”
o he will be the one who guides and instructs
the builders. He can only give verbal help; he
is not allowed to do anything.
• “Builders”
o there will be two builders to a team. They are
blindfolded as they do their task. They are
guided and instructed by the “coach” and
assisted by the builder-assistant. All they have
to do is follow the “coach”
• “Assistant-builder”
o he is task to help the builder, but he can only
hand them the materials needed. He won’t
be allowed to help the builder. He will not
also be allowed to speak.
4. Here are the instructions:
a) The game master will gather all the
“visionaries” from each team. He will show
them the picture of the tower.
b) The “visionaries” then will try to instruct their
‘coach” on what has to be done without
speaking. He can use sign languages or
body movements.
c) The “coach” now instructs the “builder” on
what to do. The “assistant builder” can
only help in handling the materials but not
in building the tower.
d) Each team will be given 20 minutes for the
activity. After 20 minutes all towers will be
brought in front and will be judged by the
game master.
e) The group with the best looking tower wins.
5. Then time will be given to process the whole
activity with the following guide questions:
a) What did you observe?
b) What did you learn from the activity?
c) Share to the group the importance of
teamwork and communication

Schedule
Opening Prayer 5 minutes
Instructions 10 minutes
Activity 20 minutes
Discussion 15 minutes
Wrap up/Closing Prayer 10 minutes

Criteria For Grading

Attendance 50%
Participation 40%
Winning team 10%
Total 100%
ANGELS AND DEMONS
Goal
§ Enjoy working as a team
§ Learn the importance of team work
§ Have fun and exercise

Materials
§ 4 field markers
§ Playing Area : Open field
§ Object of the Game : To capture all the
members of the opposing team

Mechanics

1. Divide group into two teams: red team and blue

team

2. The teams go to opposite ends of the field and

line up behind their respective end lines.

3. The red team sends one member towards the

blue team. Each member of the blue team
remains behind the end line with one hand
extended over the line. If any member of the
blue team crosses the line without first being
touched by a red player, he must leave and join
the red team.

4. The red player then touches the hand of one of

the blue team members and runs back to his
own team. If the blue player tags the red player
before the red player crosses his own team’s end
line, the red player becomes part of the blue
team. If the red player returns safely, the entire
red team chases the blue player.
5. If one of the red team touches the blue player
before the blue player before the blue player
crosses his own end line, he becomes a member
of the red team. If the blue player returns safely,
the entire blue team pursues the entire red team.

6. When all the members of the red team have

either crossed their own end line or have been
captured the round is completed.

7. Once the teams are realigned, the procedure is

repeated with a member of the blue team
opening the round. This alternation continues
until all the members of one team have been
captured. A round ends when a player has
been captured. The only exception is when the
entire team is being pursued. In this case the
round does not end until all the players have
been captured or have gone to safety.

through one’s own self, family and the
community
Schedule
Gathering and Registration 30 minutes
Worship 30 minutes
Game 20 minutes
Talk / Reflection 40 minutes
Group Discussion 30 minutes

Anchor Verse
“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or
conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish
or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs;
love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the
truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope and
patience never fail.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Talk Outline
I. Introduction
To love and to be loved is one of the greatest
gifts that god has given us. God is love and He is
the only source of love that we need. Jesus was
the best expression of His love for us.
As a Youth for Christ, we must also express this
love. But for us to do this, we must first
acknowledge his love for us. This is manifested by
allowing ourselves to use this gift in our lives as an
individual, as a part of a family and of a
community.

II. How do we love?

The best example of loving is Jesus. He loved
unconditionally. He forgave even if he was hurt.
He went out of His way to tell the people of His
Father’s love for them. He was gentle to the
afflicted and he mourned with the sinners. He
ate and lived with the people who were
rejected. He loved everyone equally, just like His
Father did.
This is our challenge as Youth for Christ.
We can start loving thru the people closest to
us:
A. Our Family
1. Parents (“is patient, kind and not rude…”)
- Respecting them (mano po, po and
opo, chores)
- Obeying them for they know what is
best for you (ie bawal ang relationship
muna at certain age)
- Honoring them all the time (ie.
Anniversaries, Birthdays..)
2. Brothers and Sisters (“is not ill-mannered,
selfish or irritable…”); (“does not brood
over injury…”)
- Respecting them (ie. kuya, ate)
- Helping them in their certain needs (ie.
homework or exam preparations)
- Being a “brother’s keeper”
- Giving simple things can even make
siblings closer
- Ensuring quality time is spent regularly
B. Studies
1. It is our priority among the many service
that we have as YFC (“rejoices with the
truth and is not self-seeking…”)
- Excelling academically
- Ensuring balance between co-curricular
and extra-curricular activities
- Respecting authorities in the school like
administrators, faculty and staff (even
school janitors and guards should be
called Sir or Ma’am)
2. Our parents worked hard to send us to
good and reputable schools (“does not
rejoice over wrongdoing…”)
- We dishonor our parents if we cheat in
our studies

C. Community
1. The YFC Household is where Christian
environment can be built, nourished,
sustained and empowered.
- Regularly attending
- Sharing experiences
- Giving comfort to fellow members of
the household
- Listening and learning from the
experiences of others
2. The YFC Household is a venue to express
and experience the love of God
- Caring for one another
- Sharing in times of need
- Being Brothers Keepers (accountability
as a household)
Expressing love brings out the good in us. We
also bring out the goodness in others. Together,
we build a culture of goodness.

III. Conclusion
The only way to live is to love. The only way to
love is to live like Christ! We may be imperfect but
His perfect love will be shown in us if we just
decide each day to follow and imitate Him.

***At this time,, the speaker asks the participants to

read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 replacing the word love
with their names, their parent’s names, their sibling’s
names, their fellow members of the household.

conclude the whole anchor verse:
“Because of our love for you we were ready to
share with you not only the good news from god
but even our own lives...” (Thessalonians 2:8)

Talk Outline

I. Introduction
Jesus was great enough to command the storm
to stop. He had authority to drive out demons and
to part the sea. Thousands of people would leave
behind their livelihood and treasure to follow where
he is and do what he did. However it was in is
humble service that people were inspired to follow
him. Even when he was glorified as the king of all
kings, he would go down to their level, on his hands
and knees, and humbly serve his apostles. He even
washed their feet.
II. Comfort Zones
We have heard that Christ is willing to go all the
way for us, to go out of his comfort zone.
Unfortunately, for us, there is a great struggle to do
the same.
As the name suggests, our comfort zones are the
areas where we live, the friends we go out with, the
things we do. There are times when these hinder us
from loving more people. Our comfort zones are
usually based on the lifestyle we are comfortable
with.
A. Who are we with
Sometimes we do not want to be with people
who are not familiar with us or who are not like us.
We do not want to talk to people with whom we
have a hard time relating to or to people we do
not like.
B. Where we go
We want to go to places where it is
convenient for us. We want to be seen in places
where we would look cool. There are moments
when the way of getting there is also an issue for
some of us.
C. What we do
We want to do things that we love or
sometimes, things that will make us more popular.
Because of this, we do not want to do the dirty
work or the simple assignments.
As we love god and the people he has
blessed us with, we need to go out of these
comfort zones and go down on our hands and
knees
III. On Hands and Knees
Earlier, we all went down on our hands and knees
to make our household banners. We even gave up
things that are dear and personal to us to make the
banner. There are three attitudes that we need to
take to help us do this in our everyday lives.

A. Give no conditions
We all got dirty earlier. We all gave up some
of the things personal to us. Someone of us
worked without footwear. Some gave up other
things.
(note to speaker: you can cite other things that
they gave up-mobile phone, etc..)

Though we have limitations, we are called to

give what is expected. We gave up part of
ourselves. We all did what is needed. We do not
choose our service or how much we serve. Christ
never set limitations on how much he love us,
bless us or forgive us- neither should we. We need
not have hesitations on what and how much we
give up as god has. He is always with us and has
promised us everything.

B. Take initiative
We make do what we have. We work
together to accomplish our tasks. Some of us
lead, others painted, and others cheered. We all
played different roles. Sometimes, we just have to
seek ways of serving more people. In the
community we are given many opportunities to
serve. There are more than enough for all of us to
do.

C. Serve Joyfully
We can become joyful despite the dirt on our
hands and knees. We made the most of what we
have. Here in YFC, this is fun in itself. Christ never
complained, thus we do not complain. We give
our all even if we are not acknowledged or
affirmed as God loves a cheerful giver. We gave
up a lot of things yet we joyfully did what we
need to do.

IV. Conclusion
As Youth for Christ members we are called to be
servants. We are blessed to know that god loves us
no matter what. Knowing God and knowing his love
is what makes people happy, peaceful and alive.
We were born to make this known to everyone
who doesn’t. The only way we can make this known
is by loving everyone whom God has entrusted to us
unconditionally – no ifs, no buts, whenever,
wherever and however.

Guide Questions
1. What do you think are your comfort zones
today?
2. How far are you willing to go for God and His
people?

Prayer and Reflection Song

Reflection Song: I Give My All
Fast Song: Follow You
EVEN THE SMALLEST DETAIL
[Diligence]

Goal
§ To realize the importance of being diligent

Mechanics
Noel Borja of Malabalay, Bukidnon, Philippines
would have been the youngest Philippine
multimillionaire on record. Alas, it was not to be.
Borja had thirty days in which to appear
before his grandfather’s executor so he might
receive the $116 million that his grandfather left him,
as his sole heir. Unfortunately, the letter from his
executor ended up in the dead-mail section of the
Bureau of Post, and the deadline expired. Borja
never appeared.
Why didn’t Borja receive the notice? He had
moved from a boarding house in Manila without
leaving a forwarding address. His own negligence
left him without a solid basis on which to appeal.
The opposite of diligence is not necessarily
laziness, but often, negligence. We should be
certain to take care of routine tasks, follow normal
procedures, and fill out necessary forms.
Borja lost far more than money because of his
lack of diligence. A new standard of living, a new
opportunity for giving and a new outlook in life were
all within his grasp.
Diligence will always bring an abundant
reward.

Guide Questions
1. What ‘routine task’ do you usually oversee in
your everyday living?
2. What areas of our lives do we lack diligence?
Lessons
God is not only concerned in the big events of
our lives, but the minute details as well. He knows
every strand of our hair and every time that we
breathe. He is involved in the smallest detail of our
life because that is how much He loves us. We, as
God’s imitator must be responsible in the smallest
detail of our life. Not only will it be beneficial to us
and to the people around us but will also give glory
to our Father.

Action Plan
Make a list of the ‘routine things’ that you usually
overlook. Post the list somewhere you can see it
every morning. Practice to give attention to these
small details of your life every day.
CALLED TO SERVE
[Being a Missionary]

Objectives
1. To understand the meaning of CALLED TO
SERVE
2. To realize the importance of this call and of
being in this community
3. To understand and know the best way to
respond to the call of God by serving others

Dynamics
1. Registration
2. Worship
3. Talk proper
4. Group discussion
5. Closing prayer

Speaker’s Profile
A youth leader who has served in the community
with the same position for at least 8 months.

Anchor Verse
“But God in His grace chose me even before I
was born and called me to serve Him.” Galatians
1:15

Talk Outline
I. Introduction
Why are you here? During our youth camps,
we are taught of one main thing- that God loves
us and He is inviting us to have a personal
relationship with Him. Ever since, we sought to
attend and discover what this relationship was.
Slowly, God has shown us in one way or another,
what means to be loved by Him. We all know the
response to this call is to love Him back. Let us
discover more about this call that He addressed
specifically to us and see what we can do about
it.

II. The Call and the Privilege

1. Our Call
God called you first. Out of all the people in
the world, He called you first because He wants
you to feel His love first. You are singled out
because you are simple in God’s eyes. He is
asking us to follow Him and influence others to do
so as well.

2. Our Privilege
The call may seem hard but God doesn’t
want us to just follow Him. The call is also an
invitation to enjoy the privileges of being God’s
children. As God’s children, we enjoy peace of
mind and heart because we learn of His promises
for us. We experience love through our families,
brothers and sisters, our friends, our support
environment that guides us. Through this
community, He had made sure that we are
always surrounded by His love.

Note to the Speaker: cite privileges of being part of this

community - attending the ILC, parties, a venue to
discover/showcase /enhance your talents, being
part of nation building.

3. Our Response
Yet there are still others who have not yet
received and experience God’s Love
III. Called to SERVE
S- Sharing One’s Time, Talent, and Treasure.
We share time by attending meetings. Our
presence leaves an impact to other people. Let
us share our talents by participating when we are
needed. (Example: music ministry, writing, being
a speaker, etc.) Let us share our treasure by
giving what we can give like food, clothes,
books, especially with our less fortunate brothers
and sisters.

E- Enjoying the activity

We should always participate, not allowing
ourselves to be “kill joys”. Show eagerness in
everything that you do. Make the most of it.

R- Reaching out
Being out of place is a decision. Whether you
are just new in a group or been there for a long
time, you need to make one another feel
welcome. Let us make it a habit to introduce
ourselves to the people that we do not know yet.
Let us not be cliquish.

V- Volunteering
Always offer to help others. Be sensitive to the
needs of others. Volunteer to be part of the
community’s activities/events. (Example: serving
in the youth camp, be a speaker or sharer, be
part of the committee, etc.) Take the initiative.

E- Encouraging other people to join/attend

When you share, enjoy, reach out and
volunteer, you would really inspire others to want
to be where you are. In this way, we could
encourage others to join in our community. Let us
be God’s instruments of love. Let us be His
missionaries.

IV. Conclusion
But God in His grace chose me even before I was
born and called me to serve Him. Galatians 1: 15

We are called. It is time that we share what we

have learned or gained in this community. The love
and privileges that God gave us should not stop in
us. When we S-E-R-V-E, we become good witnesses,
leading us to follow Christ, thus, making us
missionaries.

Guide Questions
1. Share how you fell knowing that you are
called and privileged to be part of the YFC
community.
2. How will you respond to this call of God for
you to serve in the YFC?
MY PRAYER LIFE
[Growing deeper in one’s prayer life]

“Pray at all times; be thankful in all circumstances.

This is what God want from you in your life in union
with Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Goal
§ To instill the significance of deep prayer

Mechanics
1. The household head should give each
member a piece of paper.
2. The household head will instruct his/her
members to write the things that they are
currently prayer for in 5 minutes. Members
may not write their names on the paper.
3. Then the household head will ask the
members to drop the pieces of paper in the
prayer pot/prayer box.
4. After collecting all the pieces of paper, the
household head will randomly pick a prayer
paper and read it aloud.
(NB: If there are more than 8 members in the
household, the household head may not read
all the prayer papers.)

Guide Question
1. How is your prayer life?

Lessons
Prayer is important in our Christian life. It is our
way of communicating with the Lord. The Lord
wants us to pray always. “Pray at all times; be
thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants
from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus.” 1
Thessalonians 5:17-18
But most of the time we tend to neglect this
special time with the Lord. Some of us just pray
when we need to, and some of us just pray simply
for the sake of praying. This is not what the Lord
wants to happen in the way we pray. He wants us
to treat prayer as an intimate date with Him. Prayer
is His gift to us, and so we need to appreciate it,
take care of it, put depth in it and grow in it. This is
the only way for us to be truly blessed and happy.
When we spend time with God in deep prayer,
we will:
1. Fall in love with Him more
2. Receive guidance for our everyday life
3. Be given the grace to endure the hardships in
life
4. Grow to be the person that He wants us to be
– to be like Him
We should keep on praying. Let us strive to
become more passionate in deepening our prayer
life.

Action Plan
1. Set a regular time of prayer. Go to a
conducive and quiet place where you can
be alone with God. “When you pray, go to
your inner room, close the door, and pray to
your Father in secret. And your Father who
sees in secret will repay you.” Matthew 6:6
2. Have a prayer journal. Divide your notebook
into two sections. In the first section, make
three columns. In the second section, write in
your journal the remarkable messages of the
Lord for the day.

SIMPLY JC
[Simplicity]

The older I grow, the more clearly I perceive the

dignity and winning beauty of simplicity in thought,
conduct and speech: a desire to simplify all that is
complicated and to treat everything with the
greatest naturalness and clarity.” Pope John Paul
XXIII, Journal of a Soul

Goals
§ To see joy in simple things
§ To realize that happiness in life doesn’t have
to be glamorous, expensive, or limited only to
material things, but living simply is the way to
be

Mechanics
1. Before the household, instruct your members
to bring the 3 simplest things that give them
joy or happiness.
2. During the household, make each one share
to the group how these things bring joy to
them.

Lessons
Clearly we have seen and experienced how the
simplest things in life can bring us so much joy.
(Household heads can use his/her members’ simple
joys as example). Jesus, Himself showed us that life
doesn’t have to be glamorous and expensive. Being
born in a simple and humble manger, in a family of
carpenters, Jesus didn’t allow it as a hindrance in
living a happy and fulfilled life. In fact, the baby
Jesus was even able to sleep peacefully and
soundly in the manger, pacified only by God’s love.
May His example inspire us to continually seek joy
even in the simple things and ultimately, find peace
in not having a lot but being with our Father.
1. Every little thing comes from God and so let’s
be thankful to Him.
2. Simplicity is living from the sore of your being.
(Janet Luhr)
3. Simplicity is having the time and space to
embrace what is important to you. It is having
the leisure to cherish it, having the freedom to
glory in it and having the power to live by it.
(Bo Sanchez, simplify)
4. Along the way, you’ll discover that the most
important things in life aren’t the things but
the persons who have become part of our
lives.

Action Plan
Know the simple joy/s of at least one person
around you (family, friends, classmates, etc) and
find a way to share with them their simple joys.
DARE TO BE DANIEL
Goals
§ To challenge YFC members to have
conviction like that of Daniel and his young
friends
§ To inspire them to stand up for God even if it
means standing alone

Dynamics
1. Discern a speaker for this activity.
2. Prepare 1 to 2 sharers and brief them
accordingly.
3. Open with worship.
4. After the talk and the sharers, give the guide
question for reflection.
5. For the reflection song have the music ministry
play Refiner’s Fire or another song that can
lead them to reflect.
6. Ask the group to divide into households to
share among each other with the reflection
question as guide.

Schedule
Opening Worship 15 to 20 minutes
Talk Proper (with sharers) 30 to 40 minutes
Reflection 5 minutes
Sharing by households 30 to 40 minutes
Talk Outline

I. Daniel’s Courage

DANIEL IN THE LION’S DEN (DAN.6:1-16, 19-23,

25-26)

1 Darius decided to appoint over his entire

kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to
safeguard his interests; 2these were accountable
to three supervisors, one of whom was Daniel.
3Daniel outshone all the supervisors and satraps

because an extraordinary spirit was in him, and

the king thought of giving him authority over the
entire kingdom.
4Therefore the supervisors and satraps tried to find

grounds for accusation against Daniel as regards

the administration. But they could accuse him of
no wrongdoing; because he was trustworthy, no
fault of neglect or misconduct was to be found in
him. 5Then these men said to themselves, "We
shall find no grounds for accusation against this
Daniel unless by way of the law of his God." 6 So
these supervisors and satraps went thronging to
the king and said to him, "King Darius, live forever!
7All the supervisors of the kingdom, the prefects,

satraps, nobles, and governors are agreed that

the following prohibition ought to be put in force
by royal decree: no one is to address any petition
to god or man for thirty days, except to you, O
king; otherwise he shall be cast into a den of
lions. 8Now, O king, issue the prohibition over
your signature, immutable and irrevocable under
Mede and Persian law." 9So King Darius signed
the prohibition and made it law.
10Even after Daniel heard that this law had been
signed, he continued his custom of going home
to kneel in prayer and give thanks to his God in
the upper chamber three times a day, with the
windows open toward Jerusalem. 11So these

men rushed in and found Daniel praying and

pleading before his God. 12Then they went to
remind the king about the prohibition: "Did you
not decree, O king that no one is to address a
petition to god or man for thirty days, except to
you, O king; otherwise he shall be cast into a den
of lions?" The king answered them, "The decree is
absolute, irrevocable under the Mede and
Persian law." 13To this they replied, "Daniel, the
Jewish exile, has paid no attention to you, O king,
or to the decree you issued; three times a day he
offers his prayer." 14The king was deeply grieved
at this news and he made up his mind to save
Daniel; he worked till sunset to rescue him. 15But
these men insisted. "Keep in mind, O king," they
said, "that under the Mede and Persian law every
royal prohibition or decree is irrevocable." 16. So
the king ordered Daniel to be brought and cast
into the lions' den. To Daniel he said, "May your
God, whom you serve so constantly, save you."
19The king rose very early the next morning and

hastened to the lions' den. 20As he drew near, he

cried out to Daniel sorrowfully, "O Daniel, servant
of the living God, has the God whom you serve
so constantly been able to save you from the
lions?" 21Daniel answered the king: "O king, live
forever! 22My God has sent his angel and closed
the lions' mouths so that they have not hurt me.
For I have been found innocent before him;
neither to you have I done any harm, O king!"
23This gave the king great joy. At his order Daniel
was removed from the den, unhurt because he
trusted in his God.
25Then King Darius wrote to the nations and

peoples of every language… 26I decree that

throughout my royal domain the God of Daniel is
to be reverenced and feared:

FAITH, LOVE AND COURAGE

Daniel believed in God’s great love.
He knew God would never leave him. This led
him to a deep, deep love for God as well. It was
from this love that Daniel was able to sum up the
courage to serve God, even if it meant having to
stand-alone--even when it meant risking his life.
Very few of us will have the chance to stand up
for God to the point of death.
It would be great to believe that like Daniel, we
will stand courageous and risk our lives out of our
love for him. But we don’t have to wait for
somebody to throw us into a lion’s den or point a
gun at us to prove our love for God. Although
we may not be fully aware of them, we face our
“lion’s dens” everyday of our lives.

II. Would You Stand Up To Be Counted?

The challenge for all of us, is to be like Daniel who
stood up to be counted for God even to the point
of death. What are some areas in our lives where
we can be called to stand up and witness to people
that we belong to Jesus?
A. Are we good witnesses for jesus at home?
• Do we obey and respect your parents?
• Do we take care of and love your brothers
and sisters?
• Do our parents see us strive hard in our
studies?
B. Are we good witnesses of jesus to our friends
and in school?
• Do we still cheat during exams
• Do we still go out with them and get drunk, or
visit places such as beer houses or
prostitution houses?
• Do they still influence us to do vices such as
gambling and drugs?
• Do we bring our friends closer to Christ?
C. Do I keep myself pure, even when no one is
looking?
• As a YFC member, do I still flirt?
• Do you I keep getting myself into situations
with my boyfriend/girlfriend that often leads
us to sin/premarital sex?
• Do I prioritize more my boyfriend/girlfriend
over God?

III. Dare To Be Daniel

Daniel has shown us a great example of
faithfulness and courage. God saw these and
rewarded him greatly. We too could be like
Daniel, courageous enough to stand up for Jesus
and faithful enough to make it last. And surely, if
we become like Daniel our efforts here in this
campus will be greatly rewarded.
Dare to be Daniel
Dare to stand-alone
Dare to have a purpose true
And dare to make it known
IV. Reflection
Do your actions in front of your friends and
classmates make it easy for you to evangelize, or
does it make evangelization difficult
BOY MEETS GIRL
[100% Pure]

Goals
§ To have a deeper understanding of the
complementary relationships of the two sexes
§ To accept and appreciate the natural
differences between men and women
§ To live out our roles as man and woman of
God

Dynamics
1. Worship
2. Activity: Hands Up, Masks down
a. Gather all the male participants in one group
and all the female participants in another
group. Do this activity separately in different
session rooms, with a facilitator from the male
group and a facilitator for the female group.
b. Post the tally board for everyone in the group
to see (see sample of tally board attached)
c. Ask the participants for a show of hands to
signify their choice per item. Tell the
participants to answer each question honestly,
and that there are not correct or wrong
answers.
d. Make a tally per choice and write the number
on the tally board.
e. When both groups are done, gather as one
big group and post both tally boards.
f. The speaker will compare the responses of the
two groups, and then will segue to the talk
proper.
3. Talk Proper
The talk proper can be done in a more creative
manner. (ie talk show ala Boy and Kris) – wherein
there will be two speakers, preferably a male and
female leader who are partners in service to
explain how they are a brother and sister to one
another.
4. 2nd Activity
5. Closing Prayer

Talk Outline

I. Introduction
The activity showed us that there are things
that males are more prone to do than females,
and vice versa. There are things that
characterize a man, and things that characterize
a woman. Can you imagine a world with only
men? Or just women?
In the beginning of creation, only man was
there. He was expected to love. As a person, he
had to love and he needed to be loved. So God
created a woman, and upon seeing her, the
man exclaimed excitedly: “This one, at last, is
bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: This one
shall be called woman, for out of man this one
has been taken.” Genesis 2:23.

II. God’s Intent

A. Man and woman are equal in worth and
dignity. This is because God created both in
His image and out of love (Gen 2:21-23)
B. God designed man and woman to be
different from each other, in order to carry out
a partnership that is complementary and
interdependent. This partnership is not just
about a romantic relationship but in any
situation this partnership can grow into, since
God gave both of them the commission to
subdue the earth and have dominion over all
of creation.
But before one can fully understand what it is
to complement and to be interdependent
with the other, we must understand the
differences in the way God designed the two
sexes to be.

Human sexuality encompasses the whole being of a
person – the physical, emotional, mental, and
spiritual – all intertwined in one totality.

III. Misconceptions of Human Sexuality

The world has confused man and women
regarding their roles and because of this, it has
caused a misunderstanding on the meaning of
being a real man and woman.
Ever since our first parents had fallen into sin,
the world has taken control of our sexuality. The
modern world has distorted the beautiful plan
that God has intended for every man and
woman He created. It has threatened the very
core of a person’s identity. Since that day, man
and woman have engaged themselves to an
endless pursuit of impossibility where man wants
to be woman and woman wants to be a man.

Homosexuality
Some believe that they have been born as a
person with a heart of what is opposite to his or
her gender. Some quote them as saying that
they have a woman’s heart but trapped in a
man’s body or vice versa. God made woman in
such a way that she is different from a man.
What only exists is human sexuality that is
composed of being a man or a woman, any
other desire or attraction other than that is a
distortion of our real sexuality. You are created
as who you are today. There is no mistake on
how God made you as a person.

Romantically In Love with the Same Sex

There is absolutely nothing wrong with loving a
person but this love must conform to God
otherwise it is simply not love. Showing love and
concern to the same sex is normal, but once it
elevates itself romantically then it doesn’t
become love anymore. 1 Cor 13:4-7 tells us
what romantic love truly is and if we are to live
out this definition then falling in love with the
same sex cannot be LOVE.
The sad reality is that more and more people
fall into these lies simply because our generation
has given up and started accepting all of these
as the truth. What we should realize is that our
attractions and emotions must not define who
we are as a person.
IV. Conclusion
Men and women are in themselves complete,
at the same time, complimentary. Individually,
they have the capacity to be the best. When
they bring out their natural geniuses and go
hand in hand, together, they create something
bigger for this world. They both have to realize
that they need the help of one another to fully
allow them to live out God’s unique purpose in
them.
When men and women work together, it
leads to the fulfillment of our human sexuality.
We began to realize earlier that we are made
out of love and we are to love. Then God further
made us man and woman. This is what allows us
to live out our basic call to love.
A part of this plan is for a man and a woman
to fall in love with each other. The love that God
planted in this design is meant for the greater
plan of allowing His creation to go forth and
multiply (Jeremiah 29:6). So great the love that it
can further create another person, when they
enter marriage. But before this happens, what is
important first is that each person should
understand and fully live out what he or she is
made of. That would further allow one to take
part in fulfilling the greater plan of God.

male and female help you in your
relationships with the opposite sex?
2. What is your response to the expected roles of
