A long, long, time ago, there was a guy named Leif Ericson,

hor who was born in about 1000 AD. He was a Christian, and he
loved to relax, and he also liked watching the boats come in on shore. He was born on the island of Iceland, which today is now called Newfoundland. As part of thenViking's tradition, Leif Ericson did not grow up with his family. Instead, when he was eight he moved in with a Viking named Thryker. Thryker was from Germany where Leif's father kidnapped him. Thryker taught Leif everything he needed to know. When Leif was not in a lesson, he would watch the boats sail from shore.

Leif was on sea from 984 to 1000. He was traveling when he got thrown off course, and yet, he still found land called Vinland that is now considered Newfoundland.

Some interesting facts about Leif Ericson is he was the first one to discover Vinland which is today Newfoundland. He established a Norse settlement at Vinland . Once at his stay at the Hebrides, he found a noblewoman named Thorgunna who gave birth to a son Thorgils. Leif's. nickname was Leif the Lucky because he rescued a ship full of goods and he rescued two men who were shipwrecked and took them back to Vinland

One day, Leif and his father, Eric the red, went to a thingvellir,(law making assembly) and while they were waiting, Eric got in a fight with a guy, and shot and killed him. So Eric was banished for 3 years. So he took his wife, kids, and a few slaves and left.
