THE CREATION OF THE ATOMIC BOMB


Who? Einstein and several other scientists told Roosevelt of efforts in Nazi Germany to purify uranium235,which could be used to build an atomic bomb. What? atomic science began many centuries ago with experimenting and probing into the nature and structure of matter. When? On august 2,1939,just before the beginning of world war 11,albert Einstein wrote to then president franklin d. Roosevelt.

Where? The Manhattan project created the first unclear bombs. The Manhattan project was a research and development project that produced the first atomic bombs during world war 2.
Why? Because it developed and used on japan. Possible quick end of the war and eliminate the need for invasion of japan which America military estimates would have caused large American causalities. Ussr agreed to enter into the war against japan and time was running out before they would.

Who? The national aeronautics and space administration is the agency of the united states government that is responsible for the nations civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research. Why? Because on oct,4,1957, the soviet union had sent the satellite sputnik to orbit around the earth. The national aeronautics and space administration (NASA) was founded in 1958 by president Eisenhower and senator Lyndon B. Johnson so the united states could develop a sate-of-the-art-space.

CAPE CANAVERAL: FIRST MISS LAUNCH


Who? Known as Cape Kennedy from 1963 to 1973, it lies east of Merritt island, separated from it by the Banana River What? Who? Jonas Edward Salk (October 28, 1914 June 23, 1995) was an American medical researcher and virologist. He discovered and developed the first successful inactivated polio vaccine. He was born in New York City to Jewish parents. Although they had little formal education, his parents were determined to see their children succeed. While attending New York University School of Medicine, Salk stood out from his peers not just because of his academic prowess, but because he went into medical research instead of becoming a practicing physician What? . The field trial set up to test the Salk vaccine was, according to O'Neill, the most elaborate program of its kind in history, involving 20,000 physicians and public health officers, 64,000 school personnel, and 220,000 volunteers. Why? It's purpose was to measure the density and composition of the upper Atmosphere, as well as Measuring solar Radiation, Magnetic fields, Cosmic rays.

SPACE RACE SUMMARY


Who? The space race had its origins in the missile-based arms race that occurred just after the end of the world war 2, when both the soviet union and united states captured advanced German rocket technology and personnel. What? Space race grew out of cold war between us and USSR. When? It began on august 2, 1955, when the soviet union responded to the united states announcement four days earlier of intent to launch artificial satellites for the international geophysical year, by declaring they would also launch a satellite in the hear future. Where? The soviet union (USSR) and the united states (US) for supremacy in spaceflight capability. Why? Because the space race spanned pioneering efforts to launch artificial satellites, unmanned probes of the moon, venues and mars, and human spaceflight in low earth orbit and to the moon.
