THE FOOD DELIVERY AND SERVICE BUSINESS

INTRODUCTION

Supermarkets waste hundreds pounds of foods which can not sell anymore every year around the world. Meanwhile, there are many children do not have enough food to fulfill their lives and suffer the hunger. So what I am thinking is making a bridge between the supermarkets and the organisations which can reuse these foods. For example, giving the foods to the food bank, the energy company or the biochemical industry. That means every company needs the foods that supermarkets do not need can be our customer.
3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision

Being a bridge between the supermarkets and the organizations to save the foods and deliver them to reuse it around the world. Building a worldly food-recycle and servicing all the organizations that they have needs.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Delivery and service industry

Industry: Delivery and service industry. The main work for the company is help organizations to get the food which the supermarkets do not need. So the service and distribution is our main work.

Force:

Supplier power:

low

the main supplier of the delivery company is the equipment and the vehicle. There is lots of suppliers can be chose. Even there are 2001 delivery vehicle manufacturers in one website. (Delivery vehicle, 2002),

Threat of new entrants:

High

That is really easy to enter the delivery and service industry. There is not many technology required and it is easy to get the license. Few steps have showed in the research. (Allison Dodge, 2011)

Threat of substitutes:

low

It is really hard to find out a substitutes for delivery, most of people is willing to pay the money for food delivery. ( Ferdaus& Adesoji, 2001)

Rivalry among existing High competitors:

The pressure for the food delivery is rising as a new level. There are thousands company enter this industry each year. This industry has support over 2.65 million jobs in total today and has become one of world- wide industry. cited by Oxford Economic Forecasting. (2005)

Overall attractiveness of the industry: the delivery and service is the most important things we need in our lives. For every company and every supermarket, they all need delivery. This industry has huge potential and it is required by every one in our society.

3.3 Customers and Their Needs

The customers will focus on the Food Bank and the energy company. Food Bank is a large organization which donates the food within New Zealand and oversea country. As for their need, a large number of foods will attract them to work with us. However we buy the food which the supermarket do not need as a low price and sell them to the Food Bank. These kind of food can satisfy their needs. The another customer will be the energy company. Most energy company use the biological energy source to generate electricity or other energy , which produces by the kind of food. The food which has expired will be their main needs. And the a large amount of food requires the lower price. Their requirements will satisfy our service and that is what we are doing the business.
3.4 The Product and Service

The first thing we are doing is cooperating with the supermarkets. With a lower price to buy their foods which they are going to throw away and deal with, we help them to solve this problem. The supermarket can access our database and upgrade the food information and then when we receive the information we can pick up the food. On the other hand, we find our customer by using the APP software. Every potential customers can create a account and upload their needs to the database, our IT staff will match the needs with the food we have and then deliver to them.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners

The main suppliers are the supermarkets which we find out our food source. There is a reason why we just focus on the supermarkets, because the supermarket is the main industry that throw away a large number of food as I have research and they probably need people to deal with these kind of food. Like Countdown or Paknsave. The another supplier is the truck company, because we need number of big truck to deliver the food. Those kind of vehicle should be special for the food storing. For example, the Mercedes-Benz truck company.

For the partners, the charity organization will be involved. They need food to help people, also we will have some foods which our customers do not need sometimes. It is really good to donate these food and build our reputation. For example, the Red Cross. The another partner is probably the university, we can donate the free drink, like Red Bull which is near to expired data. That is a good way to do the advertisement that people can know us. For example, The Auckland university.
3.6 Strategy: Cost leadership

For the market, we focus on the broad market because we pick up the food from the a large number of supermarkets and we should focus on the big area to sell these foods. Also, we have to assure our source is enough for the customers. Local markets will be shortage for the inventory. For the cost strategy, we will make sure our price is lower as the customers will buy it. Also, we need get the competitive advantage on the price. Additionly, the food is not fresh any more, the price will be low reasonably. The overall strategy is Cost Leadership
3.7 Value Chain Activity: Market and sell the product or service

The most important value chain activity for this business is Market and sell the product or service. The main work for the business is building the market. As the vision has stated, we service for the all the organizations around the world and satisfy the all needs. Additionally, our strategy concentrate on the broad market. All this points states our market is really important for us to build. And our service should be flexible for the different company.
3.8 Business Processes
3.8.1. ORDER DISTRIBUTION PROCESS

we have by using our database system. After that, we can conform the information and prepare for the distribution.

3.8.2 .

INVENTORY PURCHASING PROCESS The inventory we have is purchasing from

the supermarket. However, the supermarket should conform the information with their the goods which they prepare for dealing with and send the information to the database. We can see the goods condition online and decide whether we would buy it. And then, the manager can send feedback to supermarket. If we decide to buy it, the accounting department can make a payment. And when supermarkets receive the payment, we will pick it up.
