ABOUT WORLD OCEAN BUSINESS FORUM


World Ocean Busines Forum is an international business platform organized with the aim to make contribution to the sustainable development of coral reef and and fisheries to support food security programmes by encouraging local and international partnerships and investment, exchanging information, knowledges and best practices between stakeholders. This forum expectedly will provide the platform for stakeholder to discuss and present successfull project and business opportunities.

FIELDTRIP

National Marine Park - Bunaken (08:30 - 16:00)


The world famous Bunaken Marine National Park, with an area 75.26 hectares, is located very close to Manado and comprises of 5 islands: Bunaken, Manado Tua, Siladen, Mantehage and Nain. The superb diving and snokelling sites puts the Marine Park in one of the top 10 dive area of the world and is a mecca for seasoned and beginner divers alike. Wall diving offers a spectacular drop off 100's of meters deep and the warm water is particularly inviting.

But it is for the diversity of sea life to be found around the Park that attracts divers from around the world. Whether you are a fan of big pelagic fish down to the smallest anemone, whatever your fascination, you certainly won't be disappointed.

For those who are avid underwater photographers be sure to bring countless rolls of film, photo opportunities abund. The variety of fish and other marine life often spotted include: Napoleon Wrasse, Angelfish, Turtles, Blue Ribbon Eels, Stingrays, Eagelrays, Snappers, Groupers, and sharks to name a few. There are hundreds of other species too numerous to list but easily located at a variety of sites. There is now a number of professional dive operators in and around Manado with well-trained staff and a commitment to safety. Accommodation is available at most dive operations and full packages including equipment hire and meals are extremely competitive.

Highland Tour (08:30 - 16:00)


The highland resort is located at the edge of a thick jungle forest of Kinilow, 20 Km from Manado and5 Km before Tomohon . It offers a cool respite from the tropical heat of the town and quite venue to relax and enjoy the lush vegetation and birdlife found in the highlands. A dramatic feature of the resorts location is the towering volcanoes of Lokon and Mahawu. The volcanic soil of the area provides the lush vegetation surrounding the resort and the region produces most of the vegetables and flowers supplied to Manado.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Passport and Visa


All foreigners wishing to enter Indonesia must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival along with proof (tickets) on onward or return passage. Please contact the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate in your country well before the Conference in order to check if you require any immigration documents neccessary to visit Indonesia. Please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia at http://www.kemlu.go.id.

Free Tourist Visa


Non-extendable visa free-entry to Indonesia or 30 days is available to passport holders of Brunei, Chile, Hongkong SAR, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Letters of Invitation
The World Ocean Business Forum Organizers can provide invitation letters to those who require it for visa or other necessary procedures. However this letter aims to assist participants for their travel to Indonesia and does not imply any commitment by the Organizers to provide financial support. Please get in touch as early as possible with the Organizers should you need an invitation.

Airport Departure Tax


An Airport tax of IDR 150.000 is imposed on travelers for international routes and IDR 40.000 for domestic routes. Airport tax is payable after check-in at airport

The distance from Sam Ratulangi airport to the venue is ..... km/ 30 minutes by car.

Climate
Manado has tropical climate appropriate to its proximity to the equator. Year round temperature averaging 31 degrees Celcius. High humidity can be expected between months of October and April. The wet season brings daily rain and quite overcast days with mist rain recorded between December and February. Ocasionally rainfall can also be expected during the dry sesaso byt usually at night or very early in the morning.

Language
The official language in the Business Forum is english.

Currency
Only rupiah (Indonesian currency) is acceptable at regular stores and restaurants. Most hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops accept certain foreign currencies and credit cards. The Indonesia Rupiah is available in note, denominations of 100.000; 50.000; 20.000; 10.000; 5.000; 2.000; and 1.0000. Coins are available in denominations of 1.000; 500; 200 and 100.

Electric Current
The electric current in use throughout Indonesia is 220 volts at 50 cycles. In hotels, though, you may find two sockets for 110 and 220 volts each. Converter may be obtained through housekeeping; however, we recommend you bring your own
