Prayer to Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness,
joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be
consoled, as to console. To be loved, as to love. For it is in
giving, that we receive. It is in pardoning, that we are
pardoned. And it is in dying, that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Litany of Humility
O Jesus, meek & humble of heart, hear me…
From the desire of being esteemed,
From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, Jesus…
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, Jesus…
That others may be loved more than I,
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That in the opinion of the world, others may increase & I may
decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may
become as holy as I should,
Jesus grant me the grace to desire it.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your holy gifts. Let my
weakness be penetrated with Your strength this very
day, that I may fulfill all the duties of my state
conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just. Let
my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no
one’s feelings; so generous, as to pardon sincerely any
wrong done by me or to me. Assist me, O Holy Spirit, in
all my trials of life, enlighten me in my ignorance, advise
me in my doubts, strengthen me in my weakness, help
me in all my needs, protect me in temptations and
console me in afflictions. Graciously hear me, O Holy
Spirit, and pour Your light into my heart, my soul, and
my mind. Assist me to live a holy life and to grow in
goodness and grace. Amen.

Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
O my Jesus, You said, “verily I say to you, ask and you shall
receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be
opened to you”, behold, I knock, I seek and I ask for the
grace of . . .
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in
Thee.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for all my sins. In
choosing to do wrong and failing to do good. I have
sinned against You, whom I should love above all
things. Because of them I deserve the eternal pains of
hell, but most of all, I have offended Thee, my God,
who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly
resolve with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins,
do penance, avoid the near occasion of sin and sin no
more. Amen.
Padre Pio Prayer O Jesus, full of grace and charity,
victim for sinners, so impelled by love for us that
You willed to die on the cross. We humbly
beseech You to glorify in heaven and earth, the
Servant of God, Padre Pio who generously
participated in Your sufferings, who loved You so
much and labored so faithfully for the glory of
Your heavenly Father and for the good of souls.
With confidence we beseech You to grant us, through
his intercession, the grace of a complete conversion
and confession of our sinfulness and the graces which
we ardently desire.
Glory be…etc. (3 times)

Third Station: Jesus falls the First Time.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
Jesus, our dear Savior, His flesh torn by scourges, His head
crowned with thorns, so weakened by the heavy burden upon
His shoulders, fell exhausted to the ground.
O my Jesus, it is not the weight of the cross, but of my sins,
which have made Thee suffer so much pain. By the merits of
this first fall, deliver me O Lord from falling into sin. Thou didst
bear my burden and the heavy weight of my sins. Should I,
then, not bear in union with Thee, my easy burden of suffering
and accept the sweet yoke of Thy commandments? May the
thought of Thy sufferings make me ever watchful over myself
from falling into sin. Thy yoke is sweet and Thy burden is light.
I therefore willingly accept it. I will take up my cross and
follow Thee...
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
16
Fifth Station: Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His
Cross.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
Afraid that He may die on the way, when they wished Him to
die the ignominious death on the cross at Calvary, they made
Simon help Him with His Cross. Simon unwillingly assisted
Jesus. Jesus accepts and invites your assistance, How willingly
do you accept the weight of the cross?
My most sweet Jesus, I will not refuse Thy cross, I accept the
life and death Thou hast destined for me, with all of the pains
which may accompany it. I will be Thy assistant, following in
Thy bloody footsteps. Inspire me also to console You with
prayers of reparation and love, that I may follow Thee to
eternal life...
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
Sixth Station: Veronica wipes the Face of Jesus.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
Impelled by the pain and sorrow shown on His holy face,
Veronica wipes the sweat and blood from His face with her
veil. Jesus imprints on it, His holy countenance: a great
recompense for such a small but loving gesture. What return
do you make to your Savior for His great sacrifice and love?
Most merciful Jesus, What return shall I make for all the
benefits Thou hast bestowed upon me? My soul also was once
beautiful, when it received Thy grace in Baptism, but I have
disfigured it since with my sins. By Thy Passion, O Jesus, Thou
alone can restore it to its former beauty. Behold, I consecrate
myself entirely to Thy service. I offer and consecrate my heart
to Thee. Imprint on it Thy sacred image, never again to be
effaced by sin.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
17
Seventh Station: Jesus falls the Second Time.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
The suffering Jesus falls again, under the heavy weight of His
cross, renewing the pains of all the wounds of His head and
body. Pushing and striking Him, the cruel executioners do not
permit Him to rest for even a moment.
O most gentle Jesus, my repeated falls into sin have added to
the burden which Thou hast carried for my redemption. Grant
me the strength and perseverance that I may earnestly strive
to reform and not fall again and relapse into my former sins.
By Thy grace, without which I can do nothing, strengthen me
to commend myself to Thee when faced with temptations that
assail me.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
18
Ninth Station: Jesus falls the Third Time.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
What a fearfully oppressive burden our sins must have been.
Arriving exhausted at the foot of Calvary, Jesus falls to the
ground for the third time. His weakness extreme, and the
cruelty relentless, however, His love for us never diminished.
19
Eleventh Station: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
They crucified Him, and with two others, one on each side,
with Jesus in the middle. Pilate had an inscription written and
put on the cross that read “Jesus the Nazarene, the King of
the Jews.” Thrown on the cross, Jesus extended His hands,
and offered to His Eternal Father, the sacrifice of His life for
our salvation. With even more excruciating pain His hands and
feet were nailed to the cross. Yet, He bravely and patiently
remained silent, to please His heavenly Father, suffering all
for me. How do I react to sufferings and troubles? How fretful,
impatient and full of complaints am I?
O Jesus, gracious Lamb of God, I renounce forever my
impatience and ingratitude. Thou didst forgive Thy enemies;
my God, teach me to forgive injuries and forget them. Crucify,
O Lord, my flesh and its sinful hungers, scourge, scathe and
punish me in this world, do but spare me in the next. Nail my
heart to Thy feet, that it may be united to Thee until death. I
commit my destiny to Thee, surrendering myself to Thy holy
will, May Thy will be done in all things...
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
Twelfth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
For three agonizing hours Jesus slowly dies on the cross. When
Jesus had taken the wine, He said “It is finished.” Bowing His
head, He handed over His Spirit. Jesus our Lord is crucified,
His work perfectly done. Behold His wounds, received for the
love of you. His head is bent to kiss you, His arms extended to
embrace you, His heart open to receive you. O
superabundance of love, Jesus, the Son of God, dies upon the
cross, that man may live and be delivered from everlasting
death...
O most loving Jesus, I embrace the holy Cross whereon You
loved us even unto death. I thank Thee for Thy sacrifice, and I
desire to love You as much as You love me. May we in Your
example, Love one another unto death. Give me grace to die
embracing Thy feet and burning with love for Thee. I will at
least endeavor to die to the world. I commit my soul into Thy
hands. I love Thee with my whole heart; I repent of ever
having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again.
Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what
Thou wilt.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
20
Thirteenth Station: Jesus is taken from the Cross
and laid in the arms of His Mother
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.
Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
Two of Jesus’ disciples, Joseph and Nicodemus, took Him down
from the cross and placed Him in the loving arms of His
Mother. We grieve with thee, O Mary, for the sorrow you
experienced as you tenderly embraced the lifeless and
mangled body of your dear sacred Son.
O Mother of Sorrow, for the love of your Son, accept me for
thy servant, and please pray to Him for me. Receive me into
thy arms, O Sorrowful Mother; and obtain for me a perfect
contrition for my sins. And my Dearest Jesus my Redeemer,
since Thou hast died for me, please permit me to love and
serve Thee completely all the days that I may live.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory Be.
Lord Jesus, crucified, Have mercy on us!
21
Almighty God, whose command is over all and whose love
never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to
Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against
dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that
I can face my fellow man, my loved ones and Thee without
shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the
work of a true & faithful servant and to accept my share of
responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the
courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me
loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties You have
entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to
my leadership. Help me to wear my cross with dignity, and let
it remind me daily of the values which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith. If I am tempted,
make me strong to resist. If I should miss the mark, give me
the courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me the wisdom by
which I may understand the answers to my prayers. AMEN...

Universal Prayer
O Lord, we Thank You for all of our blessings and graces we
so often seem to take for granted. Thank You for Your loving
presence, the wonderful children, people and beauty of this
world that surrounds us. Thank You for our health &
happiness, the answers to our prayers, deliverance from our
sinful desires, comfort in times of sadness & pain. For our
priests, the graces of Your holy sacraments, Your divine love &
forgiveness and thank You Lord, for not giving up on us, as we
so often deserve. Please be with us always, help us never to
stray from Your presence and to never take Your unconditional
love for granted.
O Lord, we pray for Your protection, guidance and
deliverance from evil & infirmities for: our loved ones,
relatives, friends, associates, those who we have passed by,
those in authority over us and those who protect & serve us.
We pray for the innocent unborn, the afflicted, the imprisoned,
the needy, the sorrowful, the sad, the lonely, those addicted to
sin, for those known and unknown to us. Those who
misunderstand our motives. Those who in all sincerity, oppose
us. Those who do not like us. The souls of the faithful
departed, our loved ones and those most abandoned in
purgatory, so easily forgotten.
We pray: For the peace, comfort & guidance of Your Holy
Spirit in our hearts, in our homes, in the world and in the
Church. For the reign of Christ in the hearts of all. That all will
come to know, love and serve Christ, to see Him as their
redeemer, their Lord and God. That they will accept His
teachings and seek to live ever in the state of grace. For the
conversion of sinners. That those touched by God’s grace will
respond, repent and come to know the joy of a heart at peace
with God.
For Christian unity. “That all may be one,” in fulfillment of
the prayer of Christ at the Last Supper. For healing, guidance
and protection of marriages, broken homes and the children
entrusted to us. That we all may be solidly bonded together
forever, become more holy and pure, obedient, patient, loving
and wise.
For social justice. That all in the spirit of Christ will be
brothers and sisters in Christ, so discrimination disappears.
That all will be charitable and help the poor, the suffering and
downtrodden. Protect and guide those who make laws, those
in authority and those who serve. That law and order will be
observed. That crime and immorality will be lessened.
For the universal church. That God may bless, guide and
strengthen our Pope and all his labors. That bishops, priests
and religious everywhere, may give their lives for Christ
totally, prayerfully, unreservedly and with a spirit of sacrifice.
That they may be converted of their shortcomings and any
misconceptions that may lead others astray.
For vocations. That many may heed our Lord’s invitation:
“Come follow me.” That those called, respond to and
persevere in their vocations and holiness.
