Over 130 brands and companies have pledged not to source cotton from Uzbekistan until the practice of forced child and adult labor in the cotton fields ends. Responsible Sourcing Network (RSN), a non-profit dedicated to sustainable supply chains, collects signatures for the pledge. Signatories commit to not knowingly source Uzbek cotton until forced labor is eliminated. RSN welcomed new signatories Ikea, Lululemon, and Marks & Spencer to increase pressure on the Uzbek government to meet international labor standards and end oppression in the cotton industry. However, inspections this year by the International Labor Organization accompanied by Uzbek officials make it difficult for citizens to speak openly about ongoing forced mobilization of children and adults
