Process Paper When exploring for an NHD topic, I knew I wanted to research the field of women's rights.

As I turned through a book entitled _____________________ , I came across Betty Friedan's biography. Interested, I read it and decided to follow up on the idea by searching Google. There was an abundance of information and primary sources that popped up, showing that this woman was significant in changing the rights and responsibilities of history. Betty Friedan was also a great topic for me because she has especially impacted girls' education and opportunities which directly affects my life. After I established my topic of research, I needed to get a good base of background information. To do this, I used several databases like EBSCO and SIRS and the books entitled The Modern Feminist Movement: Sisters Under the Skin, Things Every Girl Should Know about Women's History: From Suffragettes to Skirt Lengths to the ERA and American Women's History. These were helpful because I was able to understand the basics of how Betty Freidan affected history and the second women's movement in general. Once I analyzed those second-hand accounts, I was led to more specific primary sources. Websites of women's organizations, like N.O.W. and the ERA, provided documents and testimonies helpful to my project. Also used in my research are newspaper articles from the 60s and 70s and videos of speeches and news reports. After the research stage I began creating my website. I choose this presentation category because I am good with technology and the formatting of quotes, music, images, videos and my own words would be best portrayed in this way. To display my information, I separated my project into five main ideas: historical context, the catalyst, revolution, impact and conclusion. By doing this, I was able to show what I'd learned in a direct, understandable manor. Also, to make my website pleasing to the eye, I collected around thirty photographs that show events and protests from the Second Wave of Feminism. Betty Friedan and her work with equality relates to the theme "Rights and Responsibilities" because her main purpose was to expand the freedom and obligation that women held in society. She fought for the legal rights of women so that they held more liberties, from laws eliminating gender discrimination to legislation allowing women to make their own decisions regarding their bodies. Friedan's advancements in the Feminist Movement have enabled girls and women today to further entitlement in many different aspects. For this reason, she is a perfect example of a rights and responsibility activist that has influenced history.
