A TOTAL OF 130 SEMESTER CREDITS ARE REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION. Also, a GPA of at least 2.0000 BOTH overall and in-major (all mechanical engineering (ME) and nuclear engineering (NSEG) courses taken) is required for graduation. *If you take a course that double counts in two different areas, unfulfilled credits must be replaced by a free elective. Area 6 credits may NOT be used to satisfy two areas. Must satisfy ViEWS requirement based on date of entry. **The two-course ECE sequences that may be substituted for ECE 2054 each total 4 credits. Of these 4 credits, only 3 may be applied to ME required courses. The 4thcredit may be counted as a free elective or towards an ECE minor. Foreign Language Requirement: Students who did not complete 2 units of a foreign language in high school must earn 6 credit hours of college level foreign language. These credits are in addition to those normally taken for graduation. A 2.5000 overall GPA is required to enter the Mechanical Engineering Department. To remain enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Department, a student must continue to meet the following conditions for satisfactory progress toward a BSME degree: (1) An overall GPA of at least 2.5000; (2) an in-major GPA (all ME and NSEG courses) of at least 2.0000; (3) an extended in-major GPA (all ME and NSEG courses plus ESM 2104, 2204, and 2304) of at least 2.0000; (4) successful completion ofME3124 and ME3514 by the time 90 credits have been earned or attempted. Technical Electives must be selected from Approved Lists. There are no hidden prerequisites. Please see attached list for courses which do not count towards degree credits in the College of Engineering. All courses designated as ME or NSEG are used to calculate the required in-major GPA of 2.0000.

*Any

4974, 4994, and 5974 course from any department on List #1 or #2 other than ME must be approved on an

individual course basis; see departmental advisor to request technical elective credit for these courses. A114974, 4994, and 5974 courses (whether from ME or another department) count toward the 6 credit limit associated with List #2.

** Any 4984 course from any department on List #1 or #2 other than ME must be approved on an individual course basis; see departmental advisor to request technical elective credit for these courses. The approval process for non-ME 4984 courses will also determine whether they count toward the 6 credit limit associated with List #2. ME 4984 is an approved List #1 technical elective. *** See departmental advisor to request technical elective credit for the foreign language courses after you have completed your 9 credits of technical courses in that language at a foreign institution.
NOTE #1: Students are responsible for checking the prerequisite courses for any listed technical elective course. Many courses on the lists require one or more prerequisite courses. Students may need to get permission from the department offering a course to sign up for non-ME courses.

NOTE #2: A student will not receive technical elective credit for more than one course covering essentially the
same material, If two courses have similar descriptions or appear to partially duplicate material, students should check with their academic advisor before attempting to take both for technical elective credit (or if the technical elective partially duplicates material in any required ME course).
