User Guide:

Please read this guide carefully before completing the data entry tab. The data entry is split into a number of sections under either a power diversity calc or a SEC calc Client information Technology to be installed Existing machine background data Operational background data Equipment information Energy use assessment Energy savings - auto calculated CO2 savings calculation - auto calculated

There is one further tab that can be utilised with either the SEC or power / density calculation. The 'water calc' tab allows savings from reduction in water cooling to be taken into account and this data flows into the other 2 calculations. Please carefully go through each section filling in the information required for the loan application. If you are unable to fill in any sections please provide details in the 'Notes / Assumptions column' this should include; Additional information where relevant i.e. provide details of the 'percentage avg conslption' or 'SEC' for the calculations. If you have used different calculations both the data and the calculations used should be provided with an explanation of why you have done so. Conditional formatting Conditional formatting is included on the sheet in 2 instances and will turn cells Red if - cell is negative (for carbon and cost savings) or if total energy use is greater than 90% of total site energy consumption. The following key is used throughout the spreadsheet; Lilac - CT input only Yellow - applicant/supplier input Green - Auto calculated cell Grey - notes sections Red cells - conditional formatting identfiies that there maybe an error in this cell Client information Please provide background details on the client. Technology to be installed Please tell us the type of equipment to be installed, the type of machine, the manufacturer name and identify the specific product. Existing machine background data Please provide details of your existing machine as specified. Operational background data Please provide a list of details of the type of machine currently installed, the model name, serial number and machine type. Please input the normal running hours on a per day, days per week and weeks per year. This should be done in consultation with the client. If the organisation has changing shift patterns please identify the average running hours here. Please include the price paid per kWh of energy used (unit price) broken into a day and night tariffs. Please also include the CCL (the Climate Change Levy) in the unit price. This data then allows other energy saving information to be automatically calculated. If no night running is used overwrite the average calculation. If the new machine is replacing 2 older machines please note this in the comments and include the total consumption for the 2 machines in the existing equipment boxes. Equipment information Please provide details of the existing equipment and the new product to be installed. In particular we require; the installed power rating of the existing and proposed machine (broken down by the energy used for heat and motors & drives), the percentage average consumption, the cycle time and the percentage of production scrap. Cycle time will be used here to show improvements in efficiency between the old and new equipment. Energy use assessment From the information provided above (equipment info and operational data) and through the selection of the fuel type energy use calculations are made here. Please perform non standard savings calculations in the notes section and provide full details here. Power load calc Note that the calculation for current energy use is calculated from the number of hours worked per year multiplied by the avg power consumption multiplied by the installed power. This is different to the calculation for predicted energy use which includes the difference in the scrapage rate and cycle time between the existing and proposed machines allowing changes in production efficiency to be taken into account. SEC Calc The SEC calc uses a specific energy consumption figure and multiplied by the throughput of material. The calc takes account of shot weight, cycle time and scrapage. If the machine has a faster cycle time you will need to decrease annual running hours for the proposed machine to give the same annual output. Energy savings - auto calculated Energy savings are automatically calculated from the information provided. CO2 savings calculation - auto calculated The CO2 savings are automatically calculated from the information that you provide in the sheet. No loan calculation is provided in this spreadsheet Please refer to the Carbon Trust website for more information https://www.carbontrust-online.co.uk/carboncalculator/ Water Calc Where possible we would like to capture the energy savings achieved from any new plant that reduce the need for cooled water. The 'water calc' tab presents an opportunity for this calculation to be presented where possible.
