Loc a t e the t wo se t s of screws th a t are positioned on the de c k of the boa t ( F igure A , far right image ) . One se t of screws wi ll be forward of the daggerboard well ( F igure 1) whi le the other se t wi ll be af t of the mas t s t ep ( F igure 2) . T ip: When un folding sa i l , ma ke sure th a t the area is free of sh arp obj e c t s th a t could damage the sa i l! To ensure the ba tt en tips do not fall off inside the poc ke t when the ba tt ens are removed, it is sugges t ed th a t you t ape the ba tt en tips.
2 . Un fold the sa i l . S t ar ting from the head of the sa i l loc a t e the top ba tt en poc ke t . Inser t the smalles t of the three ba tt ens into the top ba tt en poc ke t ( F igure 25) . 3 . When inser ting the ba tt en into the poc ke t , you wi ll be applying pressure aga ins t elas tic loc a t ed in the end of the poc ke t . As you press aga ins t the elas tic , sl ide the ba tt en in and down so th a t the tip res t s in the c losed end of the poc ke t ( F igure 26) . To remove : press the end into the elas tic , and sl ide the tip to the open end of the poc ke t . 4 . Continue down the sa i l , inser ting the t wo rema ining ba tt ens. Not e : Before folding the sa i l ma ke sure to remove the ba tt ens.

Vang Key
2 . Ta ke the smaller of the t wo vang bloc ks and remove the pin and ring . Inser t the vang key and se cure with the pin and ring ( F igure 42) . Hook the key into the vang slot on the underside of the boom ( F igure 43) .

Attaching the Rudder When rigging the rudder it is impor t ant to pla c e the ti ller and ext ension undernea th the t raveler l ine.
4 . Ta ke the free ends of the shoc kcord and put them through the shoc kcord loop . Pull unti l tight around the edge of the board ( F igure 72) . 5 . When you are ready to launch , pla c e the daggerboard in the t run k with the shoc kcord fa c ing towards the bow. Ta ke one end of the daggerboard re t a ining l ine around the s t arboard side of the mas t and through the bow h andle. Ta ke the other end of the l ine around the por t side and conne c t the t wo brummel hooks. T ip: For the Laser Pro model versions it is re commended th a t you lead both ends of the daggerboard re t a iner to one side of the mas t and hook the brummels around the bow h andle. To keep the daggerboard re t a iner out of the way of the other l ines on the de c k it is sugges t ed to ti e the mas t ti e in around the daggerboard re t a iner ( F igure 73) .
5 . The rudder downh aul l ine loc ks the rudder in the down position . Before launching be sure th a t the l ine is loose so th a t the rudder c an rema in in the upright position . Sail N u mber Application: Provided in the del ivery k it are 4 red and 8 blue or bla c k sa i l numbers. In order to par tic ipa t e in Laser rega tt as you wi ll need to apply the numbers to your sa i l for easy identi f ic a tion . The sa i l number corresponds to the identi f ic a tion number th a t is imprint ed on the s t arboard side of the t ransom . The identi f ic a tion number wi ll be a seri es of le tt ers and numbers. The f irs t three le tt ers are the manufa c turers code followed by an additional le tt er th a t wi ll s t and for the f irs t t wo digit s of the sa i l number. The le tt er A s t ands for the number 10 , and the progression logic ally continues with B = 11 , C = 12 e t c ... These f irs t t wo numbers wi ll be represent ed on the sa i l with the red numbers. The following four digit s are the rema inder of the sa i l number. Use the blue or bla c k sa i l numbers for the rema ining 4 digit s. For example, i f your hull identi f ic a tion number is OQTH4714B506 , your sa i l number would be 174714 . The rema inder of the numbers and le tt ers in the identi f ic a tion number wi ll s t and for the da t e in which the boa t was manufa c tured.
Sail Care: It is impor t ant to t a ke proper c are of your sa i l in order for it to las t longer and perform to the s t andard th a t they were designed for. Follow these simple tips to help ext end the l i fe of your sa i l . 1 . I f you are sa i l ing in sal t wa t er, be sure to rinse out your sa i l with fresh wa t er af t er every use. Da cron sa i ls do not absorb wa t er or sal t but the sal t wi ll dry on the sa i l ma k ing them s ti ff . The sal t in humid wea ther c an a tt ra c t mois ture th a t may lead to mi ldew on your sa i l . 2 . To wash your sa i l , NEVER ma chine wash them . Doing so wi ll damage the ma t eri al as well as remove the f inish of the sa i l . I f your sa i l be comes dir ty, c lean it with a mi ld dish de t ergent and rinse with fresh wa t er. Do not blea ch or use other h arsh chemic als on the sa i l for they c an also ruin the f inish , de creasing the l i fe of the sa i l . It is not re commended to s tore your sa i l we t , doing so is an invit a tion for mi ldew to grow. 3 . It is not re commended to dry your sa i l in the sun be c ause other th an when in use, over exposure of UV rays wi ll slowly brea k down the ma t eri al of the sa i l . Be aware of the surfa c e th a t you are drying your sa i l on as asph al t and other park ing lot surfa c es are very abrasive to the sa i l ma t eri al and may cont a in chemic als (i . e. oi l ) th a t c an damage the sa i l . Avoid h anging your sa i ls up to dry in the breez e, unne c essary flogging wi ll grea t ly reduc e the l i fe of the sa i l . 4 . F la k ing or roll ing your sa i l is high ly re commended. Crumpl ing a sa i l wi ll cra c k the f inish of the ma t eri al which quic k ly reduc es the l i fe of the sa i l ( F igure 83) .
