Baggage Policy for Pass Travel 2012

Overview:
Under Uniteds Baggage Policy for Pass Travel, employees, retirees and their eligible pass riders, including extended family and regular buddies, are allowed one carry-on bag, one carryon personal item and two checked bags, up to a maximum of 70 pounds each, free of charge. All pass riders pay excess and overweight baggage fees, consistent with customer charges. United delivers lost and found checked baggage to pass riders free of charge, provided the baggage was not checked in late or a change in itinerary occurred. Claims for lost baggage are handled the same as they are for customers.

Carry-on Baggage:
Carry-on bags must fit under the seat or in the overhead bin. In compliance with Federal Aviation Administration carry-on baggage limits, pass riders may take onboard a maximum of one carry-on bag and one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer on flights within the United States, as well as to international destinations. Dimensions of carry-on bags should not exceed a total of 45 linear inches or 114 linear centimeters (length plus width plus height). Checked Baggage:
Employees, retirees, their eligible pass riders, extended family buddy pass riders and regular buddy pass riders are exempt from the first and second checked bag fees. The maximum free weight allowance for each checked bag is 70 pounds. Revenue customer fees and restrictions apply for overweight bags,* oversized bags and excess bags. International checked bags will receive a status pending bag tag and will be boarded on the aircraft when the pass rider is cleared for the flight. If the pass rider is not cleared, his or her bags may be reclaimed in the baggage claim area. Pass riders are subject to all baggage embargoes. *Bags over 70 pounds and up to 99.9 pounds will be charged the overweight fee consistent with elite customer fees.

NOTE: Excess (one extra bag) and overweight checked baggage fees are waived for United employees traveling on positive space while conducting business for United. NOTE: Employees of other airlines are subject to all applicable checked bag fees, consistent with customer charges.

Sporting Equipment:
During non-embargoed periods, employees, retirees and their eligible pass riders, including extended family buddies, may take one item of sporting equipment in lieu of one checked bag free of charge. NOTE: Regular buddy pass riders and employees of other airlines are subject to applicable charges for sporting equipment, consistent with customer charges.

Infant Seats:

Pets:
Employees, retirees, their eligible pass riders, including extended family buddies, may take one pet in-cabin in addition to one carry-on bag, free of charge on domestic flights and international flights. NOTE: Regular buddy pass riders and employees of other airlines are subject to applicable pet charges, consistent with customer charges. Baggage Liability:
Uniteds baggage liability coverage applies to employees, retirees, their eligible pass riders, extended buddy pass riders and regular buddy pass riders. Compensation will be provided for lost baggage, damaged baggage and pilfered baggage using the same policies and procedures in place for customers.
